I'm starting to think Templars and Seekers have some sort of kinky fetish for the whole forbidden mage thing. First Cullen, then Evangeline and now Cass with Gaylan (she blatantly liked him at least a little). And lets not forget whoever got Wynne up the duff waaaay back in the day and all the Templars shagging/raping the mages/tranquil in the Gallows.
Hate to disagree, but the vibe I got from Cass was not "like." It was more "Since you risked your life to help me, I will reluctantly concede that not all mages are ravening monsters. On a case-by-case basis." For Cassandra, this may be a huge concession, but she seemed to be crushing a lot harder on Hawke toward the end of Varric's interrogation. Galyan did seem to be attracted to *her*, but for all we know, he may be like that with everyone. Some people flirt as a defense mechanism.
Not to throw a wet blanket over the present discussion, but David Gaider has already hinted strongly that they aren't going back to single-orientation romances. If the insistance that he only romance straight females had any effect at all, it would simply ensure that the only romance involving him would be with another NPC. If you'd rather watch Cullen get all gallant and adorable around Cassandra or some other random female than contemplate the thought that some player somewhere in a different state might be romancing the guy with a male character, that's certainly your prerogative, but that wouldn't be my first choice.
I think many in the discussion will agree with me that it's not a HUGE deal whether or not Cullen turns out to be bi in DA 3 or anything only that we think it'd be cool if each orientation got a specific companion. That way even if the specific orientation companion (i.e. the gay one) didn't pan out they still had the bi male option. I think we also don't mind whether or not someone else is romancing that person, rather we'd prefer consistency among companions.
I for one liked both Origins and DA 2's romance systems, I guess my only grievance was that instead of having just everybody be bi, why not have a gay romance option (such as Steve) as well. I mean whether some guy is romancing Anders somewhere doesn't really concern me. I mean did it take away from the romance that Sebastian was only romanceable by woman? Not to me. Did it bother me that Traynor was only romanceable by women? A little but more in a "grr she shot me down" rather than a "grr this is stupid!". I mean I will always applaud the attempt at making an option for everyone in ME3, but if it's to difficult then I'm fine if everyone is by, doesn't bother me one bit. I really don't care what the person's orientation is as long as the character is good. I think most here would agree.
Reading this I bet it sounds perplexing and it's a bit of greed mixed in there at least on my part. I mean I loved Morrigan because she was "mine", but if she was lesbian it wouldn't have made her any less appealing, it was more that I was one of the few that could have her. You sort of lose that with Isabela. I mean I like where in my video game if I say I'm a male certain options are closed off for me romantically and then going off a little bit more, saying I'm straight maybe closes off more.
If they go with the everyone is bi again I won't rage, I won't grumble and I won't even really give it a second though because it's an optional piece of game and if I have a problem with some woman I don't even know romancing my pixel girlfriend than I have a bit more problems and should proabably be checking that out first.
