Ok, listen. I'm just gonna put this out there:

Can we all avoid referring to Cullen with silly nicknames like "Cully" "Cullykins" "Cullypie" "Cully-wully-woo-woo" etc. It's giving us even more of a bad rep and making us look like a bunch of dicks. Plus it's embarrassing.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but the hate surrounding this particular issue is starting to get ridiculous.

I've actually never seen anyone refer to him in such a fashion LOL

The only one I do that to is Fenris. FenFen, Fenbear, FennyFen, etc. Because, come on, he's just asking for it.

When it's done to be funny then it's amusing. But I keep seeing serious posts in the DA3 forum referring to him as Cully, in a completely straight faced manner... which is then followed by a lot of ridicule and posts about how Cullen fans behave like 14 year old girls blah blah blah.

I agree.

My eye twitches whenever anyone brings him up in the general forum now because I know the conversation will inevitably become about us.

Aye, everyone is alive now Lol.

I believe it to be unfair that those threads are always slamming us as if we are some strange breed of people. I mean, I think there have been some other odd things in some other companion threads yet we are treated so...rudely sometimes. Maybe I just haven't seen the other fans slammed yet, I dunno but thats how I feel.

Mine too. I mean, it was fine all the time we were going into these threads putting in sensible explanations and reasons as to why we'd like him as a companion/LI, but then it gets ruined with the whole "OMG CULLY, I WUV HIM!!! <3<3<3<3:wub::wub::wub:<3<3<3" etc. By all means, squee as much as people want in here, but out there in the DA3 forums, where the trolls and DA team are watching, we'd be best off avoiding making ourselves look like squeeing pre-teens.

I feel like, if there ever was a reason for the DA team to avoid turning a character into a companion/LI, it's fan-girls screaming about how sexy/beautiful/pretty said character is, followed by tacky emotes.

This is the only reason these posts get to me, though. Nothing like having your own gender thrown at you as an insult all the time. That's not deflating at all. If they mean "childish" can't they just say that instead of adding gender to it? I'd be like "ok *scrolls on*" but they always have to tack on "____girls."

I'll own up to having our moments and over-analyzing a minor character who isn't really defined yet, but us being predominately female should not be on this list, yet it is brought up again and again.

Of course, we're all guilty of it in here. I mean, if we didn't speculate and come up with "what if's" then there would be nothing to talk about, since he's such a minor character.

What gets me, is the sweeping generalisation. If they said "SOME of the Cullen fans behave like *insert insult here*, then it would be tolerable. I just get sick of all of us getting tarnished with the same brush.

It also does not help when Cullen screens are posted in the twitter thread.

I think the twitter thread should be left alone for ALL things Dragon Age 3.

Hope that didn't offend anybody. :crying:

I really don't care what anyone thinks about me for liking Cullen, but I agree, some things like the cutesy nicknames should be only used in this thread or not at all. I've never seen a character and it's fans get attacked like this. It's disconcerting that's for sure.

Agreed, although that wasn't posted by any of us lol. I did mention that it was a bad idea for it to posted in there once I saw it though.

Agree, Lola.

If we want other fans to respect us as fans and Cullen as a character, we need to present ourselves in a respectable manner. We can win them over if we're smart and respectful. Squeeing is seen as a sign of weakness *out there*.

In here, we can squee as much as we want to. Ahh... *snuggles in* Posted Image

@moto, your new character sounds fun! Are you sure those hormones are *ahem* his?  Posted ImagePosted Image

It's offensive, especially since we're not all that bad at all. The main thing I'm concerned about is that the DA team would remove him from companion status/regret it (if he is a companion/LI at all.)

I just wish they knew that we don't take ourselves that seriously and most of us know that our speculation is probably false/way off the mark. We are just trying to engage in a speculitive discussion based on the facts we are given -- which isn't much and we tend to acknowledge our limitations. I mean speculation isn't the same as treating something as fact.

Also, for me, I just like to talk to you guys as fellow fans and it's a good way to stay on topic, lol.

Yeah, I mean, if they ever visited the thread a lot of the time we're talking about something either unrelated or about Dragon Age in general, especially recently since the DA3 announcement and those survey leaks occured. If they're basing it solely off fanfic, then they shouldn't because 9 times out of 10 creative writing is no-holds-barred, but that doesn't mean we consider fan fiction as canon and gospel, it's just a bit of fun.

I dunno? I've never noticed you calling him Cully lol. But, it's probably best we don't refer to him with nicknames or "omgz he's so sexy" outside of this thread. Other forum users are starting to get really nasty out there.

Oh, I was talking about the photo on the twitter thread and how I commented about how it was a pleasant suprise..

As for Cullen nicknames—never have used one, those things make me shudder.

I think this thread is more up to date on dev twitter posts than the actual DA twitter thread lol.

Yeah, I don't know why though... so we like Cullen and are enthusiastic about him possibly being a companion/LI in DA3... so what?? We just happen to have the character ahead of time, just wait until the other companions/LIs get announced and then all the hypocrites telling us off for talking about Cullen will be going on about the companion/LIs they're interested in...

Also:
Posted Image

"Wahh, people like things in video games that I don't like!! How dare they." sums it up perfectly. Why do people suddenly want the option to kill Cullen so much? Because he's popular? So confusing...

I just want to say that even though I don't post too much and more or less just lurk, you guys are a great bunch and this is easily the friendliest board on this website, and your enthusiasm for Cullen and DA3 makes *me* more enthusiastic. Don't ever change!!
