It always bothered me that Alistair wasn't in the Sacred Ashes trailer! Actually, I think half your party is missing!

Oh I know! CGI Alistiar...YES PLEASE! I get that they only had 3 companions though, considering that's all you get to bring along with you in-game. Bioware seems to have a trend of only showing off male LIs in the CGI trailers, well, except for Garrus, but to be fair he wasn't a LI at that particular time.

Yeah, I guess I can understand why -- guys want to know that there are hot girls, while girls want to know that they're being represented. But seriously? More eye candy for the (straight) ladies, please!  Image IPB The fellas are welcome to look too, but I won't speak for them. LOL

I think, if they did put the fem protagonist in with Cassandra in the CGI trailer, there would be cries of "omg Bioware are catering to the male audience, look their boobs jiggle when they fight!" *Que feminist flame war*

Lol, to be fair, no matter what/who they put in the trailer there will be idiots complaining in some capacity.

So, since we'll be travelling all over Thedas in the next game and getting involved in all sorts of mischief, do you guys think there would be certain missions that Cullen completely disapproves of us getting involved with? Or Sten-like freakouts that we're wasting our time?

Thinking outside the box. what kind of quests do you think would give us disapproval points with him, besides the obvious (helping blood mages, killing innocent people).

That's true. I'm already prepared to be mad about the trailer. Person B's shoes look all wrong at 00:47!  Image IPB

Any quest involving the use of blood magic by the protagonist or a companion, defiling something Maker/Andraste related and a quest where you help Anders maybe?

Oh, hmm....

I can see a possible mission where we have to work with a known blood mage for vital information, or a mission where we have to choose between vital information that can be used for the greater good or arresting/executing a blood mage who is a known murderer. Something like that, where Cullen would be caught between what has the greater loss?

What if we have to choose between allowing blood magic to be used or letting someone like the Divine die? how do you think Cullen would handle that?

I could see Cullen disapproving of totally mundane or frivolous fetch and carry quests. Things that aren't epic save the world. Could be a fun hat tip to fan frustration with them as we'll.

Oooo, an interesting post from Cameron in the Twitter thread that I missed the first time round:

"It’s looking good and we’re proud of the team’s progress but we still have a ways to go before we show you anything. We’re doing this right and spending the time to make sure we deliver the game you all deserve."

Sounds promising, doesn't it!

Haha - I love this!! "Why are we delivering old pantaloons? The world hangs in the balance and we're going back to Val Royeaux for a measly 30 copper?!"

Cullen disapproves -10

i could see him throw a fit. And then you could throw the templar's use of blood magic w phylacteries in his face and get him to rethink. He storms off but later returns and apologizes. Make up sex? Hmm that seems to happen at the end of all my scenarios recently. LOL

Brush -that's just what I had in mind. :)

Lola- interesting! I think makes the game sound promising. I think it makes the wait sound torturous. Maybe VGAs is too soon?

Yeah, it's the same old **** day in, day out. That's why I mostly stay in here now unless I'm checking for new info/dev participation. I think once we know more it'll be better... For a while.

Okay, we've talked about this before, but that was before Dirgegun, Battlebloodmage, charlottecorday, and Danny Boy 7 joined us, SO....

This came out of us discussing how some hopeful Cullen-mancers would want him to still be a nervous virgin, while others really don't care and are more interested in that not being the major issue we help him through.

So while I loved Alistair in DA:O, there's no point repeating that. And having Cullen suddenly be all amorous and comfortable with a relationship would be completely out of character for him, so we came up with this (and it's fast becoming my favorite Cullen/DAIII idea)

What if Cullen had a serious crisis of faith after the Meredith situation, and having either left the Order or been hunted by the Chantry folk for his actions during the Annulment, he spirals into a kind of identity crisis and basically says "Eff this. I gave my life to the Order and this is what comes of it?" So we meet him in a filthy tavern or brothel, where he's been drowning his sorrows in wine and women for the last few months, trying to forget about what happened and rejecting the duty-bound guy he used to be for something more carefree, but empty.

So we help him clean up - we show him there's still something noble worth fighting for, and the guy still hasn't experienced real love yet, or what it means to be independent without being reckless. Which is a fun adventure all on its own!

Thoughts? :D

I just thought DAIII Protag and crew would be walking along some foresty path and from there he would emerge from the bushes. Covered in war pain, chanting in an unknown language while jumping circles around the group with his almighty spear of bone in hand.
He then proceeds to be the hardcore barbarian LI we have always wanted.

To be honest I think they shouldn't show anyone TOGETHER in the trailers, simply because it gives the illusion of a canon pairing. I would rather the trailer just show off friendship and possible rivalry.

I agree with this. Especially if they can't recreate the character models properly for one thing. Trailer Isabela was barely recognizable!

Though my husband just pointed out to me that Isabela might have been part of the trailer just as an allusion to her being the reason for the big Arishok battle in the first place, and Hawke thinking "That woman got me into this mess!"

But still, it definitely seems as if he's using his lovey-dovey thoughts of her as battle fuel throughout the trailer.

I guess it never really bothered me that they showed a male Hawke clearly in a romance with Isabela since I've always played a female PC, so the male Hawke never really existed in my game. I can see the aggrivation though, as playing DA 2 as anything other than a mage just feels like I'm going against what the game wants me to do. Again, just my opinion.

I really liked the Sacred Ashes trailer for Origins, as it showed off the characteristics of the companions and hints of their personalities, without the Warden having to run up and make out with either Leliana or Morrigan (or Sten....HA)

I really liked Sacred Ashes too, but one thing that always bothered me... Why no Alistair? I can get Morrigan, since she was important to the story whether you liked it or not, but no important male character?

EDIT:
Another random thought after watching DAII videos again... I hope that if Cullen pulls a Fenris "I should go" after romance scene, he's at least not all soldier'd up and armed to the teeth like Fenris was

I just hope the protag in this trailer will be a rogue this time. The Inquisitor just seems like a roguey person, basically pulling people out of bed at night, sinking into the shadows, eavesdropping from across the room and basically just being stealthy.

I would love for the trailer to be set in Val Royeaux (sp) at night and some random shlub is walking around sort of nervous as the music is building, a bit of guitar in the background as he passes by a hooded figure strumming his lute.

As his paranoia starts to build the music suddenly does spurts of guitar and then silence, he turns around....nothing, spurts again, turns, nothing, spurts, turn, nothing. He starts to run and the music goes into full swing until he turns a corner and the man/woman with the lute is there, standing idly as the man looks on.

The paranoid man whistles and groups of his men pop out surrounding the luteman. Grinning he motions for the closest soldier to get him. The soldier obeys and snatches the lute away before smashing it. We get a glimpse of an eye.

"Thought you could come after me Black Fox?" in a clearly Orlesian accent,

Before the lute hits the ground the hooded man/woman whips off their cloak revealing the symbol of the Inquistion, quick shot of the man seeing the symbol and freaking out. We have a sort of Thane moment when the Inquisitor starts just massacring people and one by one the hero is left with his/her original enemy. The man drops to his knees and begs for his life. The Inquisitor draws his/her blade and points it at the man's throat before smiling.

The next thing you see is the man in a rack screaming as the door shuts behind the Inquisitor, the music begins again and the Inquisitor dashes forward as the title screen comes up...

Thats what I think the trailer will be anyway.

There's a small part of me that wants to almost assume it will be a rogue, but we know what happens when you assume.

There is a reason for my want to assume, though, and that's just how the trailers have worked so far. The Warden was a warrior, wasn't he? Hawke was a mage. So that leaves rogue for the protagonist this time.

....I suppose there's an agument for warrior or mage too, though, given how warrior can equal templar and mage... well... mage equals mage.

And that idea would make a sexy trailer! Though I'm not sure they would have any talking in it? If there is talking I imagine it would be Cassandra or whoever the hell appoints the protagonist the Inquisitor.... unless the protagonist doesn't become Inquisitor, and is infact the one being hunted by 'em.

Ooh, conspiracies...!

Sort of how I'd imagine it for a Rogue since we've already had a Warrior and Mage.

Love that idea, Danny. Sounds like a very cool trailer. Although... Hmm, honestly, I still have some misgivings about being the "Inquisitor" and running around Thedas putting people on the rack. I know whoever we are, we'll be badass, and I like the idea of even the inquisition symbol striking fear in someone. I guess it's still the historical overtones that they haven't explained yet.

But I've also been thinking... What if the new Inquisition is even more similar to the original, in that it's literally a non-Chantry based militia that rises up on its own to protect the people... In this case from both the mages and the Templars? DG described the original group as folks who rose up during dark times to say "enough is enough". What if the new group is more like that, a third player in the equation?

i know.  I just  have to stay right here... At least til there's actually something new to discuss. It was tantalizing that the devs were so active... But even that is no longer a lure for me.
