Cullen has always enjoyed a numerous and vocal fan club, ever since his first shy hello. He has his detractors, just like anybody else, but despite their persistence, there don't seem to be many of them. Sebastian fares worse, and he's another one who we've been promised another glimpse of.
I couldn't tell you why I like Galyan so much if you threatened me with garlic. Maybe it's because, like Cullen, we are shown a superficial glimpse and a pretty face and are given free rein with our imaginations. Threatened at gunpoint, I might reveal that Galyan is one of the few mages we have met who seems at home in his own skin. He accepts what he is, makes no excuses about it, and is patient about teaching people not to hate.

I wonder if Seb is gonna be a bit angry in DA3 if your Hawke spared Anders?
Considering Seb threatened war if you spare Anders, I would say he'd be just a bit angry. Just a little bit.
....And off topic of angry Seb, I like unshaven men and stubble, so I welcome scruffy men in my DA games.

I'd ****** my pants if Seb turned up angry and had gone back to his womanising ways. If he came onto my new protagonist, it would be the BEST trolling ever!
.....Now I want this to happen! Even more so if it makes the ol' LI a little irritated.

If he were, I would be ecstatic. Of course, I'm trying not to get my hopes up, just as surely as you are trying not to get your hopes up about Cullen. I have far less cause for optimism than you do, seeing as how I'm one of the few who have declared an interest in him.

It would be totally awesome if Galyan would be a companion! We need more characters who aren't extremists in anyway, to teach us that mages AND templars can be sane.

I'd totally sleep with Seb in one of my playthroughs, simply because Hawke never got the chance to LOL.
If that was an option, I would feel the need to have that charcter be a mage too. Just because.

So, how would people feel if Cullen could potentially dare one of your other companions if you don't romance him?
I think a part of me would be just a little possesive on behalf of the PC that romanced Cullen/that other character, as sad as that is, but I wouldn't pass hate between the characters. All the people that get SO ANGRY at Isabela for sleeping with Fenris in non-Fenris/Isabela romance playthroughs honestly scare me.
...Funny how they only get mad at/want to murder knife Isabela for that too... <_<
On that subject, I actually wonder if a romance wouldn't start between Galyan and Cassandra if neither are romanced and both are recruitable. I couldn't help but ship them a little in DotS.

I think I'd be cool with Cullen romancing one of the other companions. I think I'd wonder if maybe it would cheapen the romance between the him and the protagonist, but it's kinda cool that they aren't all purely player-sexual and nothing else.
I think it only gets a little "wait a minute..." when the romance with the PC is based on how the PC is the only one the NPC trusts anymore, and how your character is just that 'something special'. I know I felt just a little weird about the Garrus/Tali romance because of that, just because the Garrus romance is sorta based on how Shepard is 'the only thing he has left in this messed up galaxy'.
...Evidently that's a bit of bollocks, Garrus.

I know I felt like my mage Hawke was a bit of a dick for going after Marrill when Carver has a crush on her. First the girl in Lothering, and now Merrill... no wonder Carver doesn't like you, Hawke.

That subject makes me wonder if the reverse can't be true, though. What about if two characters have a sort of thing before you do a playthrough where your PC romances one of those characters? Do you feel bad?

I didn't romance Merrill for that reason (apart from once when she ninjamanced me lol.)

As for "splitting up" would-be pairings, it doesn't bother me a bit. If the relationship has not happened before the protagonist got his chance, interest on the part of the PC won't discourage it. In other words, there may be a reason that Merrill never hooked up with Carver that has nothing to do with Hawke. If Merrill works up the nerve to show up at Hawke's house but never did it for Carver, maybe she just isn't into him. It happens all the time in real life, and it's hard for people - anyone - to take, but abstaining from dating your friend's buddy because you know that your friend is harboring a "secret" infatuation with you that you don't return is silly. Yes, I know, it isn't done. You don't date your friend's buddy under those circumstances, but that doesn't make it any less ridiculous.
As for Cassandra and Galyan, I'd welcome the chance to take his mind off Cassandra. He seemed infatuated with her, but she seemed totally not interested in him as anything other than a friend. It happens. Fortunately, being male, Galyan would probably be very easy to distract. There might be a few comparisons at first, but eventually, the wonderful person that the protagonist is would make him wonder what he ever saw in Cassandra.

Oh, and while we're on the subject, how do we feel about the potential NPC reactions to poaching? In the Cassandra/Galyan/protagonist example, do we want Cassandra reacting to the competition? Attention is nice, whether you return it or not. Cassandra might be a little resentful that she is no longer the center of Galyan's world. Or she might be relieved. As long as it didn't turn into a flat-out catfight, I'd be down with some jealousy.
I think that would be hilarious! I could see Cassandra feeling a little offended, even if she wasn't interested in Gaylan, simply because she'd be thinking "typical male" lol.
