So... here's some strangeness for you folks.
Last night, for I don't know how long, I had a dream about DA3. More to the point, it focused on Cullen. I can't recall the specifics of it -- really the lines that were said -- but I'll say what I can remember.
1) When Cullen appeared, it wasn't in DAO or DAII form. It was in more of a.... realistic type of depiction -- for lack of a better word -- so I'd say it was what my mind figured he'd look like in the Frostbite 2 engine. And yes girls (and guys?) he was still attractive. When I saw him in my dream -- I think I was sort of "hovering" over the events -- I said "Damn... Cullen looks badass and awesome".
2) He was present at some sort of meeting between Mages and Templars, Seekers and the Divine, and... maybe other people? I dunno.
Basically what happened was there was arguing. A LOT of arguing. And some anti-Mage higher up in the echelons of the Templar Order spoke up about how he didn't understand how anyone could say they shouldn't crack down on the Mages and be strict.
To my surprise, Cullen spoke up. With a slight tremble in his voice, he gave a one-liner that completely destroyed the Templar's argument.
Sadly as I said I cannot recall the specific lines mentioned in this dream sequence. All I do recall was that it was using somewhat archaic wording and that it definitely conveyed a sense of guilt on his part and a real understanding of what truly needed to be done.
I wonder if it's one of my prophetic dreams. They've been known to happen to me before, and usually I can recall them in full detail. Shame that this was one of the exceptions.
That's not strange at all - around here, we have Cullen dreams all the time.
... just kidding. Sometimes I have to propogate the creepy fangirl persona just for fun.
Sounds like your brain's on the right frequency if anything from the Inquisition leak is correct (besides the title)! I do really appreciate that you see Cullen's badassery, because I think a lot of that gets lost in the squee's that he seems to be more famous for lately. As if guys are intimidated by this pixelated knight just because a few girls find him attractive.
So it's cool that you're more mature than that.

I am, too. I'm just excited to hear anything new about the game or the world or whatever. Even just the sentence, "Yup, like we already said, there definitely will be a DA3" pleases me!meanieweenie wrote...
I'm going to ready myself to be happy with just about anything they'll toss our way. Even if it's random scenery concept art. That way if it's anything more I'll be pleasantly surprised.

My favorite new Thedosian oath!

So it's cool that you're more mature than that.Especially since DG's shock at finding out about all the lady-fans also centers around the fact that Cullen's just this character, a minor one, that tells this unique story about a guy who has every reason to hate mages but still struggles against the compulsion to hold a grudge against them forever. That's pretty much the appeal most of us see. Others like to jump on the bandwagon and make a lot of noise. A few others are just horny and deranged. Most of us, um, just want to see the some closure to his story, and just want to see the poor guy have the satisfaction of finally knowing friendship, love, and a life of purpose that won't involve the slaughter of small populations.
brush, this is another one of those posts that I need to just point to and say, "This." Why do people like Cullen? Why do they not? What's the big deal?

So, of all the places we're going to visit in Thedas (everyone remember the map from last year's NYCC?), which country do you think Cullen would be most fascinated with?

"I met him at the chantry door...
He turned around and smiled at me
You get the picture? (yes, we see)
That's when I fell for (the knight-captain cullen)"
So, of all the places we're going to visit in Thedas (everyone remember the map from last year's NYCC?), which country do you think Cullen would be most fascinated with?
Hmm, of course I've spent the most time thinking about his response to Orlais. Sort of a combination of revulsion and confusion over their high falutin ways and his deeply ingrained prejudices.
Hmm... given his... issues, though, I suppose Tevinter might be the most interesting. Seeing him react to the extreme, extreme of how mages can be integrated in society would be fascinating. I wonder if he'd be irritating and pontificating about how the Chantry is clearly in the right, and how allowing mages to have such power is the perfect example of what not to do. But I'd also love to see him be grudgingly introspective about it, perhaps meeting a highly placed, free mage and seeing that he/she is really no danger to anyone. That could make for some fun "questioning beliefs"-like discussions with him.

Oh that sounds like a pretty interesting dream. I've had prophetic dreams too which is kind of scary. But I sure wish I could have one about Cullen hehe
I've had one or two Cullen dreams, but they've never been epic like that one. What's cool is it's not unreasonable to imagine that something along those lines could actually happen involving Cullen.
Well my Cullen dream consisted of tragic romance between Cullen and someone he would canonically hate, so don't feel so bad
Plot?! Who needs it

Either way I think Cullen is going to be a bit irritating to anti-Chantry or just anti-preachy people but I think he also has the biggest room for change, he'll always be a templar I think, I mean when I think Templar I don't think of Alistair or Gregoir I think of Cullen arguably the worst Templar in Origins (attitude wise) but when DA2 came I saw him in a different light he was the sane one simply tortured by his experiences and forced to realize life (especially in a Bioware game) isn't black and white.

IIRC, it was from an early, playable mock up of either DA:O or DA2 that the devs put together as they were developing their early ideas.motomotogirl wrote...
