I think it'll either be 3 class based origins for Mage/Warrior/Rogue, or just one playable prologue to introduce us to our characters current life situation and teach us how to use the controls. Personally I'd prefer 3 class based origins but I'm good with whatever, so long as they don't just throw us directly into the action like last time.

I like the idea of 3 class based origins if races are out. That could be interesting. I agree about not wanting to be directly into the action. Having to play through the DA2 prologue all the time is really tedious, especially since you don't even get to the CC until after.

Yeah, the intro stuck as default Hawke was a pain in the arse, doubly so if you custom Hawke came out looking derpy, so you had to either reload and play the intro again or wait until you were properly in Kirkwall to get to the Black Emporium. It also kinda threw me out of the games immersion a bit by having to start out with the default that you can't skip.

Hopefully this time it'll be like DA:O where you can hit the CC straight off the bat.

It may not be possible, but I'd sorta like it if the multiple origins weren't class based. Maybe that doesn't make sense in the context of whatever the origins are, and since mages have such a specific bum deal. But without Circles, maybe they'd have more freedom to tell a family based origin that included some coding specific to your class, but overall was the same.

Dunno... maybe that's dumb...

Argh, agree. that was such a nuisance with multiple playthroughs... Hopefully, we'll get the cc with the demo or even standalone so we can be PREPARED!

Having to play a default Hawke when I first trie the game, I thought I couldn't customize my character which nearly made me shut the whole thing off.

I wish for a mage there was a choice to be an apostate(all your life) or a mage who has been in the circle. I kind of want there to be two different backrounds for each class.

Yeah class based origins are ideal in my mind since we can expand on the character more so that they're not just [insert name] who got lucky because Steve the Wandering Merchant decided to take a right on the road to Albaquerque. Despite its flaws I felt like Hawke was memorable and the conversation with Flemeth when she says "Is it fate or chance...I can never decide." made me feel like Hawke shaped the world around him simply by being there.

I always thought Flemeth was musing aloud on her own tendency to influence the world around her here.  To me Hawke seems more the kind of girl/guy who just got swept along with events. (Which is fine by me; it was nice not playing 'the chosen one' for once.)

i.e. Is it fate or chance that she happened to meet and save the two men (or man and woman) who would save Ferelden? (Alistair and Warden)

Is is fate or chance that she would happen to save the man/woman who would be so caught up in events of Kirkwall?

LOL I always just felt like Flemeth was being pretentious, honestly, and trying to sound like a fortune cookie to keep you off balance. But, yes, I also sorta felt like Flemeth was musing about her own considerable impact on "events"TM. "Was I fated to run into you, little shaker of worlds, or was it just random that you  happen to not be dead right now?" But, she could also be talking about Hawke's "fate."

True, but how many legitemate organizations are out there that accept all races that aren't tied to any kingdom or group i.e the Chantry or Qunari? I mean who knows maybe the Inquisition accepts elves and dwarves or maybe it's enough of it's own individual that it wouldn't matter. Plus a part of me is hoping I'm wrong so everyone is happy.

... but this also assumes that the PC is part of this new Inquisition organization, which also hasn't necessarily been confirmed or denied...

But, even if that were true, and we are the Inquisitor, I don't know that we yet know enough about the org to know how open it might be. If it's supposed to be some second coming of the historical Inquisition, would it also be racially biased? Most of the folks who broke away from the Chantry were humans to start, so could be. If the Inquisition is some pan-national crazy spy network, it could have an open door policy. Dunno... argh, wish they would tell us more!!

Yeah don't mind me I WANT the races but I just have this gut feeling you know? It also sort of  fits doesn't it that we'll be apart of the Inquisition since the game is in fact called Inquisition? True it could be that we're against them or even just a freelancer and I don't mind either way. I guess I'm just spoiled because a supposed "fake" leak got something right you know, maybe I can't be unbiased here :P

As for Flemeth I always took it as, "Oh I have this medallion and you happen to be going to Kirkwall of all places, is it fate and something is pulling us together or is it chance and I just happened to run across two of the world's most influential people in it's history?"

Good point, Danny. I think I've heard a lot of folks of the same mind: that we won't have race choice. Dunno what it's based on though. I'm cool with whatever they do... altho for myself, I don't necessarily need to be an elf or a dwarf again (I know, blasphemy!).

I'm now thinking about the original Inquisition and whether it might have had surface dwarfs or city elves as a part of it. I always picture it as a sort of militia turned witch hunt. So, if it's normal folks leaving their homes to pick up arms against the threat of dark mages, is it plausible that it also included non-humans?

More than plausible since at the time elves were still on the Chantry's good side and I've no doubt that the dwarves had some anti-mages though they in particular are a lot less believable. I don't doubt that in the early years of the official Chantry that elves were clerics and templars a like so if we only got elves and humans I could believe that.

This is something I've been wondering about actually. The game is called Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, so it kinda stands to reason that we will be part of said Inquisition as the "Inquisitor". I mean, would they really have named it as such if: (for example) the Templars renamed themselves the Inquisition and are terrorising mages? Sure, they may have done, but it seems to me that the Mage/Templar war will only be a small part of a bigger problem (especially if the leak is legit), in which case it would be pointless and lacklustre giving the game a title like "DA3: Inquisition" when in actual fact that could only be a tiny issue in a sea of bigger ones. IF however the game is solely about the Mage/Templar war and the Templars have indeed renamed themselves "The Inquisition" then the game title would certainly make more sense, BUT it does sound like a pretty boring game, plus why bother with all the foreshadowing of "bigger things afoot" and the mention of the Orlesian civil war in Asunder etc.

I'm beginning to think that the protagonist will indeed be the Inquisitor, whatever that may be.

I'm wondering if we'll be given the option between playing as a Human or Elf since they aren't too dissimilar in height and appearance, so it would be easier for the cutscenes. Sadly, I don't think we'll get the option to play as a Dwarf again though.

You know your post got me thinking and I'm wondering if that leak sort of...colored our opinions/got us thinking a certain way? I mean lets say the leak had never occured and we had learned about the Inquisition simply from the title, do you think we would have placed ourselves within the Inquisition? I mean had I never seen that leak I would have thought that it was speaking about the time period and how the templars/seekers were ripping apart families in an attempt to wipe out mages or do things their way.

It's interesting to see how it may have not forced our minds a certain way but guided it in that general direction.

Good point; since I associate "inquisition" with oppression and religion I probably would have assumed I'd get the chance to play someone ON THE RUN from the inquisition... not part of it!

Danny: Yeah it occurred to me too. It'll be interesting to find out if anything else from the leaked survey is true, beyond it's title. Perhaps we'll find out this weekend?
