I wonder if the castle will be our main home hub, that we revisit to upgrade and stuff, then when we travel around we camp and/or stay in other places over night.
It'd be cool if it's something like Vigil's Keep and when you get there it's sort of in this state of disrepair and throughout the game you build it up and make it into this huge source of strength within the region. You have to gather supplies, builders and guards for the castle and by the end of the game it's something like an 11th companion.
I hope we'd actually get to see the castle improve as we made repairs to reforce it's wall.
Do you mean like step by step or like in Awakening where it was a three phase thing? I don't mind either but the first one seems kind of awesome like the mobs do different things while you sit idle or are walking through the courtyard.
I was thinking like, you start off and the castle looks like a bit of a state, holes everywhere, roofs falling apart etc. So, over time as you do quests you find materials that could be of use to upgrade the castle, you send it back "home" etc, perhaps you also get given weapons/a small army/etc when you help out/do favors for notable NPC's, which would also get sent back "home" to the Castle, so everytime you revisit you'll notice something new added to it.
Then maybe the Castle becomes an integral part of the end battle and depending on how much you upgraded it, depends on how well it stands up to the assult etc. Kinda like in ME2 when you had to upgrade the Normandy.
