Hello my fellow Cullenites! I know it's not our "official" name but that's how I think of our group. =D Just caught up with the thread. Again. Well, I didn't catch up on everything I missed in the past three weeks - too much to read and too little time - but I'm more or less on point for what's been going on today. Sounds like a whole lotta vague and safe lip-service from the devs. The only real bombshell is the human-only protagonist. Given how pissed fans were at that in DA2, I'm surprised they did it again. But at least the PC can have different back stories! I kind of like the idea of being able to set the choices you made from previous games, in the new game instead of needing an import to have those choices reflected. Hopefully this will minimize bugs and make it possible for those past choices to really impact the story in DA3 or at least more than, "I knew an Amell once..." Not that it wasn't nice! it just sucked having to play that origin all over again to import it for such a small connection.

Well... back to your regularly scheduled Cullening. =D

Gosh, DA2 is just soooo much more enjoyable than DA:O (for me). It's so engaging. The characters, the cinematics, all of it!

I think that they're compromising just fine I mean at least they're living up to their words in that sense you know what I mean? Anyway all I hope for is that the background for our chars have more than two mentions during the plot because in Mass Effect and even Origins it doesn't have that much of an effect on the quests or conversations...to me at least. 

So far they seem to be compromising on.

1. No races, but different origins (in the normal sense)

2. Camp is diversified in that it seems big enough for it to seem natural yet small enough not to be a trek to get to the next companion.

3. Mix between open world and instanced areas.

I agree motomotogirl: DA2 was very enjoyable. I think the companions were vibrant in a way that DAo was not. I loved how they all hung out and played cards at the tavern, etc. I just wish DA2 had more variety in general. More customization, no recycled maps and that sort of things. The story being focused on Hawke kind of took away from the epic factor for me. DAO felt more like the PC against everything and just had a scale that was breathtaking. But Hawke's story was still fun.

So far Danny, they're saying what I want to hear. I'm not happy we don't get different races but I'm hoping the different backgrounds and choices will have a greater impact on how the PC can proceed in the game. I said before that it would be neat, given the events DA3 is supposed to be taking place during, to have what the PC is be reflected in how they're regarded by others. Like a mage getting a lot of flak because everyone is over-cranked about what happened in DA2; versus a PC who is a non-mage and is treated much differently. So I hope we get this kind of emphasis on the PC we build to compensate for the loss of races.
