I guess once we know what the game will be about, we'll have a better idea.

Aw, what if the warden sees him, smiles and he looks somewhat relieved, nods then turns back to the protagonist as the warden says "take care of her, Cullen"
All the while the protagonist can be awed (I mean, thats the warden that killed the archdemon and lived) or be confused (how do they know each other?)
Ah, Shades I would love this. I would love for him to have closure.... but I also have mixed feelings about seeing old me vs. new me interact with him. Ironically, since I never did Amell/Surana PT, it will probably be with my Hawke (which I can't help but secretly ship with him). Ah well! I do hope it is as ... mature as your scenario!

Yeah that is exactly how it feels. I will be so upset now if he isn't. The game would feel odd for me, not that I wouldn't buy it just because I didn't get something I wanted.MinttyMint wrote...
You know its like when you talk about something so much it feels like its already happened. Like Cullen is already a confirmed companion... I cant imagine the game without him really.

Yeah, that's exactly it. With all the fan fic, fan art out there, mixed with the ideas and concepts we throw around in here and the general population presuming that he will be a companion/LI, it feels like he's already a big part of it, even though we know nothing.
Either way, be prepared for trolls to storm the thread with "bwahaha screw you fan girls, you don't get Cullen for a third time!" Or "omg Cullen is an evil murderous zealot and I'm gonna kill him off, just to make you fan girls cry!"

Those are the ones that really make me laugh, cause, I really don't care what they do with him in their games. So as long as he is alive and well in mine.LolaLei wrote...

Exactly, what they do in their games doesn't bother me in the slightest. It's how I play the game that counts lol.

People are so ungrateful, it's crazy. I mean, they didn't have to tell us anything. A lot of games companies won't let the fans have any input or anything.

I see they locked the "I have to be a human" WHinefest.
I actually enjoyed the all the races in Origins but I can understand why we have to play humans.
I would rather see them focus resources on the entire game than on one aspect that only a small percentage will use.
Whats funny is these people who say they won't buy the game, most will.

I think it sounds awesome too! I mean, sure, it's a shame that we can only play as a human but that doesn't really bother me too much because we'll still be able to customise our character, probably more so than we could in DA:O/DA2.
I would have liked playable Origins but they've come to a good compromise by letting us pick our background, plus it means that our past/previous situation will be an important part of the story. Really, the only thing that would disappoint me is if Cullen isn't a companion/LI. However, that wouldn't stop me buying the game or anything.

*Name removed*: "I heard Mike Laidlaw noted that chars will be human only, is this true? It would be too bad if it is like DA2 with no options."
Cameron Lee: "Yep Human only, that said, I think you'll be pleased with the options you'll see in DA3 to make your character your own."
Sounds like we'll get a lot more customisation for our protagonist this time round, maybe even body type if we're lucky!

I'm bummed there's the human-only race but I can accept that if there are still a variety of backgrounds you can choose from that truly, really impact the game. Adding different choice consequences that further individualize the game significantly will make me a happy camper! One of my biggest peeves was having choices that meant squat to what takes place besides a few lines of dialogue. I want to have choices that are exclusive to certain backgrounds. And I want the choices I make to limit me in one direction but open doors in another. In short, I want a game that forces me to replay many different times to get all the experiences there are to be had. I don't want another Meredith-Orsino ending! If this is accomplished, I can get over not being able to do it as a dwarf or an elf. I wish it was different. But I also know I kind of loathed that after each individual origin in DAO, the story was pretty much the same except for tiny little moments that did little to impact the game.
The haters that have already decided DA3 is gonna suck, for whatever reason, are the kind of people I look at and go "This is why we can't have nice things." So glad that thread is closed. And even more glad I didn't go in there after going toe-to-toe with a sexist jerk in another thread.

I read a BSN quote on tumblr that in DA:O, 80% of players chose the human origin anyway. So indeed, if they have limited resources (and what game doesn't, even if they have nothing to prove..?), and multi races don't serve the story, seems logical to me to limit it to human. But then... It wasn't a particular concern of mine to begin with.

awesome. This even strikes me as something beyond just appearance. And more than just three sentences of backstory. What else could it be? What about a big choose your own adventure-type checklist of several elements of your backstory?LolaLei wrote...

Like (apologies to brushyourteeth):
family dead yes no; ever dabbled in blood magic yes/no; Apprenticed in Orlais or stayed on family farm in Fereldan ... Dunno, perhaps too complicated.

haha! Hey! Thanks.Trucking academy went well. I have my CDL now! I have orientation on the 30th and then I'll be gone for about 6 weeks since I won't have a means of being on the internet until I've recieved a few paychecks. As soon as I can, I'm getting a laptop and wireless router thing - hubby knows what it is - so I can be on while I'm chillin' in my rig after a day of hauling.
Until then, I'm a rare, mythical creature. Like unicorns!
How are you?
And I'm all good! Excited for DA3 news! Excited my story for dragon age Big Bang is approaching done! Guess I'm excited.

I know it seems logical and it's easy to accept ... when it's not something you particularly care about. It hurts a little when people keep saying stuff like that. And I'm not one of those who immediatley started nay-saying the devs (naturally lol); I was devestated by the revelation and am still trying to figure out how I'll approach DA3 since it changes how I wanted to play the game and how I wanted to romance someone like Cullen.
But I'm slowly getting over it. It'll be interesting to see what the CC looks like. I do still have faith in BW!
