"Sexy Chantry Sister" makes even more sense when you consider the recent topics about how it's unrealistic for a female protagonist to achieve her goals without seduction.  Posted Image

But of course, that sexy templar costume would be her main armor. Her specialization would be Naughty Nun. Complete with Holy Hotness, a burst of spirit energy that knocks only the men down and makes them babble incoherently, and Silent Seduction, a stealth mode that allows you to slip unseen through a battle and sidle up to backstab a male enemy. Isn't that how all women do it?  *rolls eyes*

That thread was a nightmare.

There was a thread about it?

That... what? Oy. Or perhaps it's more that many people can't write a female protagonist without having her resort to seduction? Sorry, just... sigh.

Yep. Evil Chris kindly saw to it that it was shut down.

That thread was horrible. :(  This thing with the costumes was started as a dig against trampy Halloween getups. I see a difference between poking fun at the ridiculous and seriously championing sexism. :)

Oh that one! He posted up the same topic earlier on today. I told him to get back under his bridge.

It was pretty much a trollish bit of garbage about how the OP is a personal trainer in real life, and based on a woman's physical inferiority to a man and her inability to control her own emotions, the idea that Hawke or the Warden could have achieved any of those things as a female was completely outside the realm of possibility, even for a dragons-and-magic fantasy universe. The one thing women have going for them is sex appeal, so he was campaigning for a "seductress" class skill for all female protagonists.

You know, so we can flash our panties when all those big mean men gang up and make us cry.  Posted Image

Yeah the OP even tried to sound like he was some kind of expert, going on about muscle mass and hormones. Where his "facts" fell apart was his single minded focus on how a seductress specialization would make more sense. He didn't even try to be fair about it. <_<

Oh, don't mistake me, SD - I'm all for sexy Chantry sister.  Posted Image

I'm just still a little ruffled over that stupid thread, and how many people actually engaged in taking it seriously and even agreeing. Thankfully the devs were awesome about it.

He also said stay-at-home moms are akin to ~sloth demons. *eye roll*

Oh, and let's not forget about the part where he equated stay at home moms to sloth demons.

Yep. You know, because they're all lazy. /facepalm

Argh, hearing you describe it again just makes my blood boil. Nice that they take a world like Dragon Age that has done its utmost to remove gender bias, by and large, and promote the notion that men and women can both achieve whatever they want, and then twist it. :crying:

That's always the trouble in these threads inviting people to  make sweeping gender generalizations. Like those threads about "why women do... (fill in the blank)?" Why do women like Bioware games? Why do fangirls like Cullen? And, so every poster engages, puts on their Freud armchair psychologist hat, and starts talking about Venus and Mars. grrr...

Anyway, Cullen!

Had something on my mind today. We've talked about red lyrium before, and maybe you guys are faster on the uptake than I am, but today I realized something...

if red lyrium is innately evil or corrupted, would taking it not only make a Templar go nugsh*t insane, but could it give him/her evil versions of the classic Templar abilities?

For instance.... could there be something like an UNholy smite?

Meredith was able to do some pretty crazy stuff toward the end, and she wasn't even ingesting red lyrium. Granted, part of that was probably due to the idol's powers and not just the lyrium itself, but still.

What do you guys think?
