I imagine it would -at the very least- make a Templar sick to ingest it. If he could stomach it then yes, evil versions of the powers would be fun to see. What would the UNholy smite be though? Instead of nullifying a mage's mana would it augment thier own abilities? Maybe it would transfer the mages abilities altogether a la X-Men's Rogue where they'd have some actual magic for a shirt time?brushyourteeth wrote...
Anyway, Cullen!
Had something on my mind today. We've talked about red lyrium before, and maybe you guys are faster on the uptake than I am, but today I realized something...
if red lyrium is innately evil or corrupted, would taking it not only make a Templar go nugsh*t insane, but could it give him/her evil versions of the classic Templar abilities?
For instance.... could there be something like an UNholy smite?
Meredith was able to do some pretty crazy stuff toward the end, and she wasn't even ingesting red lyrium. Granted, part of that was probably due to the idol's powers and not just the lyrium itself, but still.
What do you guys think?

Sorry, brush. As usual, I drag us back in the muck, right when you try to elevate our discussion!
Hmm, unTemplar abilities. Honestly, unholy smite sounds so freaking cool. Wow, what an interesting story that could be. The new Templar Order decides it needs an edge in the mage-templar war, starts giving its templars red lyrium instead of blue. They all go eeeeevil, like the fru - its of the dev-il.

"Sexy Chantry Sister" makes even more sense when you consider the recent topics about how it's unrealistic for a female protagonist to achieve her goals without seduction.
That thread was a nightmare.
There was a thread about it?
If that says anything it just says we men are easily charmed by a smile and a wink...grrr<_<. We're idiots....sigh

That thread was horrible. This thing with the costumes was started as a dig against trampy Halloween getups. I see a difference between poking fun at the ridiculous and seriously championing sexism.
I'm just still a little ruffled over that stupid thread, and how many people actually engaged in taking it seriously and even agreeing. Thankfully the devs were awesome about it.
I'm glad they shut that down.

Maybe Unholy Smite would turn the mages magic against them, instead causing them damage every time they try to cast a spell.
This would be freaking amazing!!!
I was thinking it could maybe make the mages a templar's temporary thrall, but your idea is ridiculously awesome. I vote this.
Nothing better if you're anti-magic and sort of evil than being like "oh, what? You're going to freeze me now? Oh no, does that hurt you? Bwahaha! Silly mages. Maker spit on you."

Excuse me, but that's just absurd. Yes, taken as an average of the entire gender, males are stronger than females. As individuals, that falls apart. Some females are naturally stronger than some males (said the lady who can dead-lift her 180lb. partner). Some men are more emotional than some women. Some people are more intelligent than some other people. Variety exists.SamaraDraven wrote...
Yeah the OP even tried to sound like he was some kind of expert, going on about muscle mass and hormones. Where his "facts" fell apart was his single minded focus on how a seductress specialization would make more sense. He didn't even try to be fair about it. <_<
Either that, or this woman is a hallucination.
So, Cullen. I've got a feeling that I'm going to be sleeping when we hit page 1000. Or driving home from work. Hopefully, they won't overlap. I wish I could think of a good journal entry for him, but I'm fried. Ah, well, there's always page 1500. Maybe we'll hit that tomorrow, at the rate we're going.

I just think new abilities are always cool. And as an Inquisitor, it'd be awesome to get the choice between putting them all out of their misery, or trying to "break the spell" so to speak.Hmm, unTemplar abilities. That could be a cool way to transform a very gray moral decision between sides into a more black & white one, like they did with Meredith going cray cray so you could kill her without remorse.
Also, seeing his brethren under that kind of influence would drive Cullen crazy. Serious.Freakout. if you didn't handle that situation delicately.

That's an interesting idea. I'm inclined to think that red lyrium would convey the usual templar powers but drive the user insane, but unholy smite sounds pretty cool. Would that affect only non-Fade creatures and non-mages?R2s Muse wrote...

I always imagined that red lyrium would super charge templar abilities and make it so that certain skills are more damage based rather than nullifying abilities. You know you take them and they hurt the mage rather than simply taking away his/her ability to cast.
From Meredith's display ingesting Red lyrium might kill someone as we've seen what it's liquid/airborne form can do to someone. I imagine it gets inhaled, but in small inconsistent doses is harmless to humans and elves, but for dwarves and possibly templars it can completely destroy them within days.

Meredith turned into some sort of statue thing, what if ingesting it made your body totally corrupt and transform into something monsterous, thus the darkspawn.
