Shut up fools! Liara LOVES and cares for Shepard, truly and completely. Plus, she's awesome in a bajillion different ways. Liara is THE only ME1 romance worth continuing IMO. (and I don't care if she did the drell dude or not, I still love her).

But if she comes back in ME3, how is her role going to work with the fact that she's, well, the freaking Shadow Broker? Hmmmm complicated. Not a position she can just walk away from on a moment's notice, especially since she seems to be firmly committed to. But I want her to be with Shep again somehow, I hope. :(

Don't worry about her being the Shadow Broker. I do not for a moment think TIM, now being Shepard's enemy AND knowing about the broker's location, will let Liara keep all the data stored at that base. This data is also too sensitive to fall into TIM's hands, who will most likely use it later on to start a war between other races, having humanity stay on the side and get on top once the dust settles. The only logical conclusion after this is: The base has got to go.

I feel like the shadow broker ship will be destroyed by the reapers and liara sets up her network on the normandy. EDI could help her manage it and everything

I'm very interested to compare my playthrough with the original shadow broker and a playthrough with Liara as shadow broker.

I think the shadow brokers ship will remain no matter and under the worst case scenario they will fast forward 49 9xx years and show a alien species discovering it

TIM, now being Shepard's enemy

Has it been confirmed that TIM is still part of Cerberus in ME3? Even if he is, it doesn't mean that he is neccessarily Shepard's enemy.

I see it being Cerberus before the Reapers.  TIM knows where the base is.  He also knows Liara is the SB and he is keeping an eye on Shepard's relationship with Liara.

Nah TIM has Miranda to discuss security protocols in private with. My FemShep has guarantee from Miranda that TIM won't have too much time/energy left to spy on Shep and Liara.

Even without Miranda TIM is way too busy showing Asari super models why the human race is superior

Yeah I sincerely hope he is still capable enough for the task. What with the apocalyptic amount of nicotine and alcohol he flushes through himself every day.

Maybe Fornax is actually published by Cerberus and TIM is the Hugh Hefner of the ME universe.

I never found myelf interested in Liara enough to romance her personally, and I do feel her ways are a little too suggestive to me sometimes (even told her to "keep it professional" at the cost of not getting my tags, sure Hackett will the THRILLED to hear that she kept them), but that's aside the point.

I definitely think that recruiting her will involve saving her from the Shadow Broker ship as Cerberus invades it nd destroys it (Keep in mind they're the only ones outside the Broker's most elite forces who knows where it is). She'll still have her forces and the info she learned, but the base will be gone.

It'd be kind of lame for her to just randomly show up and go "Hey Shepard! Ready to go now! Huh? The base? Being the Shadow Broker? Oh, the cleaning ladies can take care of that."

never accually thought about this, but if the base dose go down, like they have said, Laira will probliy just start it up on the Normandy, tell all the races about what Tim & Cerberus are doing, and will get Pawned, and

BOOM!!, no more Tim
good riddance

From what is shown in both the E3 demo as well as the squad leader trailer, Cerberus still has massive resources available. Not only that but TIM's base was raided by a turian fleet before and he survived, albeit with substantial losses. Being in a galactic war against the Reapers, it's doubtful any race would/could spare ships and men to apprehend TIM.

Also if the base goes down, most of the databases will also be destroyed. Depending on the speed of the attack, Liara might be able to save some data but not nearly all. Finally, the Shadow Broker depends on contacts which have infiltrated all over the galaxy. A lot of these contacts will be killed by the Reapers so I think either way, the shadow broker is finished.

It would make for a good entrance if the base is under attack, Liara is extracted safely but before she leaves, she manages to copy some important data from the archives and spends the next few missions on the normandy analyzing the data, looking for clues to some prothean tech that could help stop the reapers -- As long as they don't turn it into a deus ex machina, I'm good on this.

This.

Whether or not the player completed LotSB Liara being the shadowbroker is probably going to be canon in ME3. The only difference is that Liara probably eliminates the old Shadow Broker on her own if Shep doesn't do the DLC. That, and Feron probably dies in captivity rather being rescued.

This is from a two part interview of Ali Hillis.  This is from part II which was posted today.

Retroplayer- Seeing as Liara mourned for Shepard for two years do you think she fundamentally feels different for him?
Ali- I can’t really say much because some people haven’t even played the DLC which goes a little bit into that.
Retroplayer- Well, they probably should of.
Ali-
Yeah, they should of. All of you out there who have not played the DLC,
get on it. A lot of stuff happens. You can’t just go from Mass Effect 2
to 3. You need to play the DLC. That’s one thing we need to do for Mass
Effect 3, we need to record lines in different ways so that we can make
up for all you slackers who have not played the DLC. You’re missing a
lot if you haven’t played the DLC.

I think in the two years
he was gone Liara realised a lot of things and had to put it aside, she
had no choice. But was very hard on her.

Sounds like there will slight differences if you didn't do the DLC.

Dialogue differences dont necessarily equal a drastically different story though.

I'd bet on Liara being Shadow Broker whether or not the DLC was completed.

The difference I would imagine, is that those that didn't do the DLC get some explanation from Liara on how she became Shadowbroker, and maybe she's mourning Feron's death.

That the type of differences I am referring to.  Liara is the SB in ME3.  DLC played or not.  Just like the events of Arrival happened.
