So, I've played through Origins plenty of times, and its starting to kind of run thin.
So I was wondering if anyone had any ideas at all as to how I could beef up a Playthrough. I've done all Origins but the Dwarf Common, just in case you wonder. And I've just kind of been wondering if anyone knew of any themed playthroughs or anything like that, just how to make it more interesting than just running through the game.
P.S. New to the forums, so forgive me if I posted this in the wrong thread.
But yeah, I'm seasoned when it comes to Origins, so, if any of you have any ideas at all to buff up a play, please share it with me.
Need some outside Assistance

Play a type of character you haven't done before - such as Arcane Warrior or a Blood Mage.

- No mage playthrough
- All warrior playthrough (recommend it. Lotsafun)
- All archer playthrough
- All archer and/or animal playthrough (rogue archer warden, with Lel and Zev, all rangers with Dog/Shale/Shapeshifted Morrigan as the fourth)
- Nightmare solo run (possibly with only Dog/love interest for company)
- Evil playthrough: make all the worst decisions and **** up Ferelden as much as possible
- Everyone naked playthrough
- Shapeshifter mage playthough (commonly thought to be the weakest spec). Spend your entire time in animal form, perhaps?

Try a solo game, maybe in Nightmare mode...
Aim for a particular playthrough such as ranger rogue solo with a summoned pet (you may want a mod that fixes the cooldown or turning-off of summoned pets in that case), yourself only with Dog or any other party member.
I went through several playthroughs never bothering to use traps, bombs or coatings and it's just too easy to do so with a full party solely relying on resilience, hacking'n slashing through enemies. Basically, you only need a good equipment to do that.
Now I try to play solo, I have found a whole new interest in the game since I really have to plan everything and explore numerous paths I never bothered with before because you don't just bump into a horde of wolves with your rogue archer alone and nothing but a bow and daggers to attack...
In the past, I wouldn't have bothered tunning my attributes, mostly spending points depending on the feeling of what was needed on the moment, putting a bit into strenght , then a bit into willpower, a few into magic and so on. Now it's more utility-focused and it makes the game a lot more challenging, even on normal difficulty since there's a lot more of planning.
But... if you already explored those possibilities and tried all classes/specializations, played the game experimenting all possible outcomes of each quests (I even find new things now after nearly 400h playing it), then there's nothing new to do with DA:O, except trying mods/quests from the nexus. Or you can play another game for a few weeks or months and return with a fresh mind and new ideas...

I would love to mod my game, but I don't have PC. Which means I must've posted in the wrong thread...well, that aside. I've never run a Nightmare, mostly because I am that new to RPGs, I am still trying to figure out the mechanics, do you have any advice in the workings of the game? I am still trying to understand coatings, and have never seen the use in bombs, I'm guessing if I play Nightmare I will start to see? And thank you for the ideas, I will be tuning into those ideas greatly.

Once you go above Normal difficulty the "friendly fire" factor increases signifigantly. AoE spells, bombs, and the like need to be used carefully.
If you have a manual for the game it explains coatings fairly well. Basically just increases damage, though some coatings have other additional effects. Need Poisons skill to use them.
The Spoilers side of the forum may be a better place to ask these questions, though. Probably get more detailed answers over there.

Is it possible to move this thread over? Or no? I would do that if I can.

Try the Jagermeister style of run, its pretty fun.
Basicaly as many Shapeshifters and Rangers in your party as you can setup.
Im fond of this run setup.
Male/Female
Rogue
Dalish Elf
Setup as a Archer with the Ranger specialization.
Party
Dog
Wynne (As a Shapeshifter)
Morrigan (As a Shapeshifter)
You could also use Leilana/Zevran as Rangers as well.
It has a very lord of the wild hunt kind of feel.

Not really, I know people who have completed solo Nightmare runs as Mages, Warriors, Rogues with the rule of no healing ever.
Its not that hard.
Find a theme you like and go with it.
For example one ive thought about.
Female City Elf Warrior Origin.
Two-Hand Focused
and play her as bloody and violent as possble. The proverbial trope "Blood Knight" applies or even "Hemo-Rotic"
Make sure to have her be as pretty as possible for added effect too.
Imagine these Girls covered in Blood wielding huge Swords?

Dude, how do you guys manage to do such pretty faces, I never get anything really nice out of the character creator... though I suspect some photoshoping.

Those are pretty damn cool, I just wish that I had it for PC, although I'm considering buying ultimate for PC, what do you think?

I suggest you pick up Ultimate Edition for PC, just make sure the copy you get is from your own country.

I did one playthrough as a very cowardly city elf, which was quite challenging as usually I like to do absolutely everything and get as much exp as possible. It was interesting to roleplay, though. He didn't want to cross Vaughan so he left Shianni and the other female elves to be raped, left Redcliffe to be overwhelmed by undead, didn't fight the high dragon, didn't fight Flemmeth, recruited Loghain because he didn't want to go against the advice of a more senior warden or ****** off Anora (who he was completely intimidated by) and made Loghain do the dark ritual to save his own skin (he wouldn't do it himself because Morrigan also terrified him). It was an interesting playthrough.
