Did you see the secret ending at the end?

Spoiler

She goes to work for ****ing Bob Page.

And it's her work that leads to the Denton brothers, so hey, she can't be all bad. of course, I can't expect gamers to set aside the self-righteous indignation at having their egos trampled by a character in a game.

Spoilers ahead, lots.

She's not all bad, but she's a science ****. She broke up with Adam because he wanted a family and that would take time away from science. She was using Adam as test subject for science. She was perfectly happy working with the people that killed most of the people she saw on a daily basis, because of the science they were doing. And she works at page industries and helps create the Grey Death, because science.

Why don't you show us on the doll where evil Science touched you.

Sounds like you've got a grudge. And hate women who choose career and principles over being used for procreation.

Jensen wanted a family? So what? She didn't. He needs to deal with it, and so do you. This isn't the middle ages or some backward third world culture where women's bodies can be commandeered as baby factories.

Frankly the whole Jensen + Reed couple thing made no sense to me for most of the game. I didn't sense any chemistry between them. The two characters seemed wrong for each other, and I assumed (incorrectly?) that whatever they had was over, long before the game started. Jensen and Malik seemed a much more natural pair.

That's actually (one of the few) problems I had with the plotline.

I'm comfortable with Jensen and Reed splitting up, but there was no resolution, no discussion, nothing. It felt like a very unsatisfactory conclusion between two characters who apparently cared about each other a great deal.

I sounded to me like they already had split up shortly before the start of the game. At least the whole "oh.. you fenced in your garden after all? Yeah... I never had the chance to start with that." conversation had that vibe, imo.

This is pretty true, It did seem like they had broken up and were just friends, (but Adam clearly still loved her) I mean she has Adams dog. I've heard some people think there was something between Reed and Pritchard too.

There's even a picture of the dog in Adams appartment Image IPB I like how they added a lot of details to each character, like photos, and the fact Adam was trying to make a clock (we see a manual on the table, and parts like cogs for the clock on the workbench.) And an email we can read on Pritchards computer that tells us he wrote scripts for tv shows about a hacker, that sadly for him got rejected.

I've played thru this twice now, and am working on a third playthru. This is certainly a game of the year contender, maybe even a winner depending on how Skyrim turns out. Right now I'm looking forward to the new Missing Link DLC coming for DX:HR this month. Supposedly it adds 5-6 extra hours of content. Something about Belltower.

And another good thing is that HR has sold over 600,000 physical copies in its first week. Adding previous weeks and digital sales, we are looking at well over a million. I'm glad, as this means potentially more Deus Ex in the future.

DLC will be disappointing since all your augs are disabled and there is no new weapon content, just story. That doesn't sound appealing to me.

As I have never played the original Deus Ex nor Invisible War and likely won't (for a game so centred on interaction between characters, I just can't get around those old graphics, sorry), I would love an "augmented" original Deus Ex.

Well, it says you build your character from scratch ... and I take that challenge and new story over more weapons everytime!

I just wonder how to get that DLC as I don't feel like getting a credit card just to buy from Steam and yes, paypal is just as impreferable.

Your augments are disabled for a short time. Its basically an in-game respec, possibly with new augments to add. And who's to say no new weapons- no real details have come out yet besides rumors.

And it is a sad day on the Bioware forums that a well recieved RPG has a DLC that adds extra hours of story content is dismissed because it doesn't have any new weapons or other combat applications.

Irony.

I'll wait to see what it is.  I don't like DLC coming out so soon after release... it just screams content taken out of finished game so it can be sold seperatly later.
as for buying from steam I get gift cards from the store.  Works just like credit cards and much safer.
Just stay away from the ones called "Vanilla Visa"  Steam doesn't recognize those... in fact most sites don't.. Bought a 20 dollar one and ended up using it to buy drinks and stuff that I could've gotten without buying the damn card.

I like the game a lot but it won't beat Skyrim for GOTY, it has too many niggling issues.

Pff... it's a tradition of the Elder Scrolls games to look totally awesome and have some really annoying flaws when they are realesed, so I wouldn't be so sure about that :D

I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying a pure shooting playstyle. So many shooters out there and this one rewards stealthy. Thing is when i'm not restricted by being stealthy I feel more freedom in how I tackle things. Most games this style would fail you after shooting up a police station. I killed every officer to get to the morgue and got out fine. Almost got killed going out the front door but going out the roof the way I came in worked.
Getting to play with all the guns that I ignored my first time around is also a treat.

Oh, I'm not denying that they were split up, but you can clearly tell there is some unresolved love/tension between Adam and Reed based on their elevator conversation alone. And other characters (David Sarif, Reed's mother) do make comments about it. I didn't need a ten minute conversation about their relationship, but the parting did feel very lacking. I personally couldn't tell that they ever had a relationship at all, which was not good given how many times it was brought up.

Story is fine, just that I would like to see more augmentations to be honest.

What's this about?

The 3 days Jensen was offline when he got in the pod at Heng Sha to get to where the kidnapped scientists are. In the game you would just assume he was in the pod in some sort of cryo sleep for that time.

Apparently the boss battles were outsourced by Eidos:

No wonder they were so different to the rest of the game.

hmmm yes the more I think of it the bosses don't seem like they belong in this game.
To be honest I would've preferred bigger maps or more missions over the usual boss flair.
I remember reading some article that said boss battles should be a thing of the past and in this case I kinda agree.
