The conversations are either purely investigate options or a minigame with an objective.

Wrong. There are many conversations where you can choose how Adam will react. First conversation with Pritchard or, conversation with Megans mother are good examples right from the beginning.

Many? No not many because I'd forgotten about those they were so few, there's also 1 with Malik IIRC, and they are near the beginning of the game. Not enough to push it into rpg territory IMHO.

On my first playthrough I was agressive to the guy on the reception in the Police station to get in, becuase of this he lost his job as I black mailed him. So later in the game when I returned he tried to kill me becuase he got fired. On my second playthorugh I was nicer to him and he let me in on good spirit. He still got fired and came to see me later on, but instead of needing to kill or knock him out I was able to tell him I will get him a job as Sarif security, as he wont be stuck behind a desk, and the pay is better. And if they fail you have to sneak into the police station (I dont know how this turns out yet though) This sounds like an RPG to me.

I like the game a lot but its not an rpg and IMHO labelling games like it as such is diluting the genre and leading to opinions like Ray Muzyka's remark about how relevant rpgs are.

Well, I personally wouldn't want to call DA2 an RPG, yet that is the official label, DX:HR offers far more potential for certain kind of RP than DA2

Such as?

Well, first of all, I can successfully play different kinds of character-concepts I have come up with, and the game actually does recognize to some extent these RP-choices without outright contradicting my concept. Tailoring a pre-determined character to my liking based on the character-concept. I can and do make gameplay-decisions for RP-reasons.

Ah well, I managed to kill Barrett with a ghost / hacking build in highest difficulty! On first try! lol

So it's possible! Check my latest walkthrough video if you dont believe me ;o)
I was so scared because he could kill me with one grenade, that I missed a few times with my rocket launcher. I was basically trying to hide myself most of the time. My last rocket finally killed him! I was shaking, hehe :-)

That initial conversation with Haas is one of the conversation minigames. if you 'win' you get easier access to the police station and morgue. If you 'lose' you have to find an alternate path. These conversations aren't a matter of role playing they are about finding the right path through the conversation to influence the person get to the result you want.

Look the game has some rpg elements, but then so does Borderlands. Borderlands you get a choice of character, within each character you can upgrade and unlike DEHR the upgrade trees have enough different options to create very different builds for each character (DEHR you get most of the augs by the end so there's no real opportunity for different builds). But Borderlands isn't an rpg either. Having some elements isn't enough.

To me that just sounds like altering your play style eg. a no kills play through, which IMHO doesn't make it a role playing game. I can do that with FPSs like say the Far Cry games. I don't see why you can't do that in DA2 either.

I'm not saying its a bad game, I like it a lot, to me it just feels like a shooter with some rpg elements.

I haven't been able to play much of it because of work issues so I'm only in China but God damn this game is AMAZING!

I never thought the day would come, I am actually playing a worthy sequel to Deus Ex!

I don't see it, about the only thing you can
vary is the play style, but thats hardly a hallmark of rpgs, I can play
COD with different play styles. And Adam stays the same regardless of
whether he's a stealthy ninja or shoot 'em up badass.

Well unlike Adam, Hawke isn't important to the story. Which already makes the game better imo.

Has anyone DE:HR ENB Graphicson the Deus Ex forums?!

"WIP version of graphic implant for Deus Ex Human Revolution. SSAO, indirect

Adamn sounds badass in Russian.

Hardcore deus ex fans wont agree with you, dehr is a good game. But its way to short imo. Not many sidequests.

It's not as deep and the ending isn't handled so half asses. Eidos did say they were rushed during Panchea which is a shame because the game takes a different turn there along with boss fights being outsoucrced its not everything I wanted but its pretty impressive.

Don't worry the person working on that mod also helped develop a lot the code and such for GTA IV - iCEnhancer 1.3. I've heard that its optimized really well not sure myself since I have yet to install GTA 4 on my Steam account.

As much as I love this I now have a huge desire to hunt down the original and play it. I was aware of how much praise it got but I never did get around to it and it just passed me by. Not sure why.

Some wont, some will. I've heard some say ''it's good, but nowhere near as good as the original''. And I've heard some say ''they think it might actually be better than the original''. But I agree, it was way too short compared to Deus Ex 1, I heard three hub citys were cut, a Indian city, upper Hengsha and Montreal were all supposed to be explorable.  Although even with that in mind I say it's still a worthy prequel to Deus Ex, it was just shorter (although still longer than 75 % of games out there) plus with dlc this game is just going to keep getting bigger.

Which would kinda be lame to be honest, I mean if that was their intention.

That is f*cking hilarious. Pro tip: this is a dead body, lol.

Yeah, when you release a short game then start advertising DLC this soon, it screams bullsh*t.

Just finished it yesterday. Great story. Great characters. Great gameplay. Great art direction. Great immersion. Several jaw-dropping plot twists. Loved everything about it. It has done the Deus Ex franchise proud, and as much as I'd like to play it again, I'd rather dwell on the experience I had.

And now all that's left... is Mass Effect 3.

True, I will admit that it looks alright from the stuff I've seen and therefore I am intrigued by it. As far as it being cut-content repackaged as a DLC that fits into the middle of the game as long as it ain't the DLC for Assassin's Creed 2 and their horrendous 'Corrupted/Restored Memory Sequences' then it should be decent at least.

I wrote a review of Deus Ex, which can be found here.

I tried to keep spoilers to a minimum.
