That wasn't really Woo, you know.

Well, sometimes I have trouble telling the difference between your avatar and a volus.

Douche.

Hey, no need to be hostile, I was just teasing. You almost set yourself up for that one.

I wasn't serious. I don't get mortally wounded by complete strangers on the internetz.

The current information makes it sound like Fable 2 where almost everyone is a random set of personality traits rather than a properly defined person -which reduces romantic appeal

Kerra (in Morrowind) would definitely have taken on a number of lovers (of both genders)
Kierra (in Oblivion) probably a smaller number (if any)
Korrin (in Skyrim) hasn't met anyone yet..so is undecided

This is why people are saying it's going to be like Fable: Bethesda PR and marketing boss Pete Hines first said that "Not hush hush, just not making a huge deal out of it. You can marry anyone."
That's when everyone jumped to the "It's going to be like Fable" conclusion.<_<
But then he tweeted: "Sorry, should clarify. Not any NPC, just mean any male or female. Doesn't matter what you're playing."

To me all he did was clarify that there are same gender romance. We don't even have enough information to make an educated guess right now, but I doubt Bethesda would go the Fable way of romances.

Back on topic though.
I'm playing a Khajiit and he will have a Khajiit wife, who can hopefully give him a Khajiit son.

As this was so closely after my post I'll point out that I knew about the updated tweet and was reacting to the announcement that there will be "Hundreds of different NPCs you can marry, if they want to marry you." (plus earlier references to needing to buy a house to marry)
I also picked Fable 2 instead of Fable because in Fable 2 characters are a bit more defined with personality traits including sexuality which limits which are available for marriage (consistant with the revised tweet).

Of course Skyrim will have multiple races and some potential spouses may be competent adventurers..

Ah. You had me scared for a second.

Still though...

If possible-
1-2 Wives, 15 ish kids that I can travel around with. Give em a dagger to put to good use! ;)

"Now stab that scamp in the skull! Give the blade a good twist now! Good boy! Now carry the thing home so I don't have to go to the market to buy food for dinner tonight. "

It's best you not ask about the Bananas... really you don't want to know.

Also I think this thread can be saved with a few more serious answers.

Like this one: I'll be interested to see exactly how the mechanics work. If it's like Fable I'll marry many times especially if it benefits the houses I have in each city. If there are other concerns like the PC becomes Queen/King and my advisor irritates me long enough telling me to have children then yes.

If there are particularly engaging NPCs then yes again. If however it's merely a feature with absolutely no significance or ramifications then almost certainly not.

It's certainly a direction I never expected TES to take.

I'm really hoping it doesn't go the Fable route, as honestly Fables mechanics sucked in this reguard. I mean yeah it was a "first" but I mean just being famous enough and everyone loves you, or just by giving them enough gifts. It should be more..."enovolved" if they are doing this, like a couple of companion quests, or personality issues with various people, you know give it some substance, and some sort of built in personality, like an Argonia should either flat out refuse or have a hard time convincing a durnmer to marry them. Or some people who are just heto or homosexual. Don't make it where I can as a player just go up to anyone and go "Lulz want to marry me?!" Thats just stupid and a fanservice rather than a true mechanic.

Also Backlash for killing a spouse or having more than one, unless the spouces culture allows such. I'm just concerned it will turn into one of those Fable like games where you can't walkk into a town without 20 men or women hitting on you for a ring. And where its more of an addon for a few bits of gold, rather than a true companion sort. Or if a relationship can "go" some place. Like if there will be quests attached, or children. Like say your a Nord that marries an Imperial. Given whats going on in Skyrim, you should come home one day to find Nord rebels have kidnapped your wife or husband and are holding him or her, and either you fight to save them, or do what the hostage takers ask. Or if your a human that has kids with a Dunmer and they get taken by some racially pure motivated parties.

Something like that would be nice. And no "Oh hi I missed you!" "Oh I see you have a lover in each town, thats okay heres a gift for you!" or "Look our kids grew up in 30 minuets." You know some depth, and personality types you just can't marry based on who, what, and how you play and are. Like a priest for instance, I doubt would marry a man, or at all. And I would think a high standing nord or Imperial Nobel would flat out refuse a nonhuman. If they are doing this I hope they do it right.
