Alright.  So the character I'm playing, in TLDR form, is basically a space highlander psychopath.  She wants to kill all other "warriors" she can find (especially biotics) and that's why she's a marine in the first place.

I can kill Kaiden and Wrex.  Since I can't kill Liara, however, I decided to romance 'er.  Y'know, friends close enemies closer and all that.  There's other stuff too but that's the brief of it.  Well, I picked Liara up last in regards to the story missions.  Feros, Noveria, then her.  Conversation #2 and she drops the "there's something compelling about you" bomb, then goes into asking about Kaiden, whom I've mostly been leading on because I thought that'd be funny to do before killing him on purpose and to see the new dialogue.  Anyway, I seem to be stuck, because she seems to "regret bringing it up" no matter what I say.

"But you're a woman" (FemShep says she's only interested in men) -- Liara thinks she's offended you and apologizes/says we can talk about something else

"Kaiden is special" -- "That's what I thought" then she apologizes/says we can talk about something else.  What confuses me is that when playing the game as my main shepard, I chose that option, and she ended up pressing the issue and saying "But you admit there IS something there", or something like that.  Then I told her she was wrong heh.  But yeah, she didn't do that this time which... was bothersome.

"I'm taken" -- Exactly what you'd think, apologizes/can talk about something else.

"That's private" (Shep says her affairs are none of Liara's business) -- Apologizes talk about something else etc etc


So yeah.  Can this be salvaged?  Will Liara keep saying romantic subplot stuff in the future that I can pick up?  Or is there just a weird thing where ManShep can get Kaiden and Liara both on his junk but FemShep can only get one on their junk and if so the other won't pursue?  So weird.

But yeah, don't really wanna advance in case I **** anything up.  What I'm considering is maybe I can go to Virmire, kill Kaiden, and then scoop up the rebound or something.  I haven't done Virmire yet and it's the last story mission before Ilos.  My logic is that I can't possibly be taken by Kaiden if he's dead and therefore can't comfort me after the Citadel lockdown.  

SO yeah help me sort this out guys haha

As far as in game goes there's no way to rekindle a romance once you cause the LI to lose interest that I know about.

Augh, man. It's confusing, though. I don't have any option to dissuade her thinking that or express interest or anything. And at the same time there's that weird discrepency, where as ManShep she pushes the issue and can still be romanced but for some reason the same option ("____ is special") as FemShep causes her to drop it?

Your problem was picking up Liara so late in the game. Now that you're locked into a romance with Kaidan, there is no way out of it (until you leave him on Virmire). You are not able to romance Liara on this character now, I'm sorry.

Ballllllss. Ah well, I try killing Kaiden on Virmire before talking to Liara again and see if I can make some Mass Effect magic happen. Learn a new trick for the ME replayers.

Hahaha, good news boys and gals. I just avoided having the conversation with Liara (good thing I always save postmission on the command deck) and went to Virmire. Whacked Kaiden. When I went to talk to Liara, she didn't even mention the guy and I seem to be back on track.

Just another Mass Effect catch 22 solved, haha. Hope this helps someone, at some point.
