I'm going to have to say Catherine even though L.A. Noire comes damn close.

Catherine blows, the game is basically just a crappy interactive anime with a typical anime plot that just takes a bunch of random nonsense and slopilly throws it together expecting us to think we'll be too dumb to realize how crappy it is.
The gameplay is about as in depth as browsing facebook while playing a crappy flash puzzle game except usually flash puzzle games don't have such poor camera angles.

Atlus should be ashamed for bringing this garbage to America.

All anime sucks but even if I were an anime fan I wouldn't be able to overlook the fact that the little gameplay that is in this game utterly blows.
This IS supposed to be a game afterall, right?

I'll have to say Duke Nukem Forever, they plowed that ball right into the ground.

Duke Nukem Forever makes up for it's lack of quality with sheer manliness.

Although the load times are HORRENDOUS! I haven't seen such long load times since the Sega CD and Neo Geo CD. WOW were they bad.

Hmmm, well if you want another one I'ld say Homefront. Just so many things in the SP were just bad.

Yeah Homefront was bad. What was even worse about Homefront is that it took a good premise and squandered it.

It could've been the spiritual successor to Freedom Fighters and they blew it!

yes they did. the worst part is, they wont admit they did and tried to market it off as a "cheeseburger".

Duke Nukem Forever is actually a great game. The game is a lot like a more action oriented Deus Ex with comedy due to the sheer level of interactivity in the environments.

The game would be a perfect 10/10 if the loading times weren't so bad, at least in the console versions.

Might as well list Dragon Age 2 before someone chimes in thinking they are clever.

Whole reason I bought it. What pissed me off though is like the whole time they got you on training wheels and the rules you have to fallow or get a mission fail other people break. and JUST as you get into the good part doing things for yourself, getting ready to kick the Commies out of San fran... GAME OVER lulz you mad bro?

The main problem was, they just focused on Duke and not what makes those games, those games. I mean if you played the N64 games or Duke 3D you know what I mean.

LA Noire probably annoyed me more than any other game this year. I'm sure Duke Nukem was a worse game, but I didn't play it. Dragon Age 2 was really disappointing, but I could tolerate it more than LA Noire.

Ocarina of Time 3D - it's not the worst game of the year, but it's by far the most disappointing, IMO.

Seriously, all they did was give it a new coat of paint. Nothing else. They didn't add any new content other than replayable boss fights and "mirror mode" - hell, they didn't even update the music!

And even if they couldn't add anything new - there was tons of cut content from the original that they could have worked back in.

I honestly don't even know why they bothered remaking it at all. I may as well have just played the original on N64 - like I have a million times before.

Shame on you, Nintendo.

Well, I can only comment on games I've purchased and played myself. And by far the biggest let-down of the year was DA2. That said, I have no doubt that many of the games I refused to buy are far worse than DA2.

Although it didn't come out yet ,Jurassic Park: The Game looks like it's gonna be laughably bad.

Hey Greengoron89 could you be a little more specific as to what content was cut out? I ask because i am thinking about buying this game and everywhere that I see has rated this game 9.5 and up and everywhere says that there was other content added from another ocarina remake. Is this story content that you are talking about? Please be specific Thank you.

Just off the top of my head, there was supposed to be a Light Temple, Ice Temple, Sky Temple - plus all the stuff they were going to put in the expansion ("Ura Zelda").

There was literally a treasure trove of stuff that Nintendo could have used to, you know, actually remake the game - but they dropped the ball and settled for just fancier graphics instead.

The "other content" you speak of is "Master Quest", which is nothing but the main game with remixed dungeons.  They already released that on Gamecube several years ago, so it's nothing new. Nintendo was gracious enough, however, to include Master Quest for the "remake" (and even threw in "mirror mode" to boot). How generous of them.

The best part, though, is how they didn't even update the music. They lifted the soundtrack directly from the N64 version (outdated MIDI files, to be exact). I believe I read somewhere that they actually did update the music, but decided not to use it for the final game for some reason.

Anyway, the game is a major waste of time and a huge disappointment, if you ask me. The critics might love it, but I'm not impressed in the slightest.

Catherine actually I thought was going to be bad to my surprise it's a good game .

Duke Nukem was trash how can anyone defend it?! It makes fun of Halo and any shooter now yet it does exactly what they do. Regen health, 2 weapon limit and so on which imo adds to the failure. The only good thing about Duke Nukem is the wait is over but too bad because it was so bad. It took what 14 years and countless work so I understand but come on at least SC2 was worht the wait.

As for my worst game of the year. I won't say Dragon Age 2...although honestly it should be because I was so excited for it and then I was crushed by the **** it was.

I choose Crysis 2. I honestly thought it would be good. The first had so much freedom and I loved it and still play it also Warhead but Crysis 2 really felt consolized not just in terms of graphics but also the gameplay and focus. It was a smaller more linear game and online multiplayer was like any other deathmatch etc. Its also dead.

I can play Crysis 1 now and still find games with huge gorgeous maps and big games with active servers that aren't all deathmatch and the like.

The story was exactly the same as the original for N64 - nothing was taken away (or added). Some of the earlier versions of the original, however, had tons of content that was ultimately cut. I believe there was a point in the beta where you could even obtain the Triforce.

Yeah, there was a huge hoax back in the day about obtaining the Triforce (more than one, in fact). But in early versions, there actually was an obtainable Triforce. There's even screenshots of it floating around somewhere (and of other stuff that was cut, too).

"earlier versions" do you mean beta or the original retail version of the n64

Beta version, of course. The retail version certainly didn't have an obtainable Triforce or the Light Temple.
