Terrible atmosphere? Have you seen Duke's pad?! That place is amazing.

Doesn't mean the game has a great atmosphere.

The game takes place in Vegas though and Vegas has a great atmosphere thus so does Duke Nukem Forever!

I can't choose between Deus Ex: Human Revolution or LA Noire.

Duke Nukem Forever .. decided by reviews.

To be fair most reviews dropped the ball with it. In no way does it deserve some of the  3/10 loathing it got. That has at least 2 pointsworth of disappointment, nerd rage and malice. Strangely enough all the publications I've grown to trust gave it 6-8/ out of 10, which sounds close enough to the mark. Various net derps who can't write a goddamned article without turning " I thought" into " We thought" focused in 2/10 troll review department. Xbox version might be a different story but surely nobody in their right mind would try playing an FPS essentially ported from PC with console and pad so that much at leats is irrelevant.

....Not saying it were a good game though, make no mistake:p Just that it wasn't exceptionally bad game either.  Most of it's benefits have to do with how stale the genre as a whole has gotten, which just might not be such a good thing. It is incredibly  refreshing to see something offering such pathetic, obsolete and alternative view to what is cool after decade's worth of heaploads of insanely boring, caluclated Michael Bay games like Modern Warfare part Derp.  Ultimately it boils down to wether you enjoy Michael Bay's Transformers or Rambo IV.

Yeah alot of the reviews were political and chest beating for the Feminist. Still it actully was a bad game over all minus a few parts. Still not as bad as Homefront.

Also movie/comic games, minus VERY few are always bad, and thus I never play them

I've played the following titles this year:
Portal 2
Witcher 2
Shogun 2: Total War
Little Big Planet 2
Dead Space 2
Dragon Age 2
Deus Ex 3
Xenoblade
Pokemon BW

The worst was easily DA2 but that doesn't make it a really bad game or anything. I'd rate it 6-7/10 I guess.

OP why all the hate on anime? Some are pretty good. Have you seen Gantz or Death Note? An personally I loved Catherine. It was great because it at least tried to be different. And also I loved the gameplay. If you didn't like it because it was too hard for you ok but it wasn't that bad. I guess your just the kind of gamer that has to have an explosion every few seconds for a game to be good huh? And when you say it doesn't have depth have you only played like the first puzzle or something? Once you start playing for a while the puzzles become extremely detailed.

Anyway.....back to topic. I thought Duke Nukem Forever SUCKED!

It's because anime seems a little too whimsical and melodramatic.  Everything in anime just feels random and stupid rather than creative.  There are so many cliches in anime that you can get an idea of what all of them are like by just watching a few examples.

Catherine's storyline actually started off ok but I think they really should've tried to incorporate more humor.  The game took itself too seriously and the twist at the end was just lazy writing.  There was no way we could've guessed it because it was just random and completely pulled out of the writer's behind.

The problem with Catherine's gameplay was the lack of variety.  Even the minigame played EXACTLY like the main game.  It's the actual core gameplay of Catherine which should've been a mini-game and it seems the actual gameplay took a backseat to the story which wouldn't have been so bad had the story actually been decent, it wasn't.

Why the hatin' on LA Noire?

I'll go for DA2. Just because that game totally disappointed me big time.

I haven't bought too many new games this year, only 3. And the first 2....

Portal 2 = Great game
The Witcher 2 = Great game

so the award of worst game of the year i played was *drumroll*

Dragon Age 2

Not a horrible game, just seriously disappointing.

^^ How many animes have you actually seen? Yes there are some stereotypical animes that are all about fanservice but like I said have you seen Gantz or Death Note? They are both extremely well done and have great stories. You should really watch more animes, some are very good. But I agree some do suck.

And about Catherine there is a reason they didn't have a lot of humor. Because it was a game that tried to be serious. What did you want a freaking comedy? If this game tried to be overly funny the seriousness of Vincents problems would have been reduced. Like his whole life is being torn apart, but everyone has to be a comedian. How does that make sense? It wanted to be dark, it wanted you to feel sory for Vincent. And the gameplay of Catherine did change. Yes the premise was the same, to get to the top of the tower. But you had to evolve as a player. You couldn't use the same strategies over and over because you wouldn't win. And the story was good, it just chose to focus on one man's personal life struggles instead of the traditional "go save the world from a superpower" method thats used so often in games today.

Death Note is worth watching for the xanatos speed chess on crack, even if you aren't interested in the character design or animation quality (both of which are pretty good)

I know the game tried to be serious and that is the problem, it didn't resonate well with me. Everything in the game was way too silly for me to take it seriously so I think had they tried to make the game a comedy it would've worked much more effectively.

Regardless of the strategies you use you're still just doing the same thing, pushing blocks. I can only push a block so many times before I'm not having fun and by the end of the game I had long lost interest.

Anime just isn't for me. I find anime fans kind of creepy and extremely nerdy. They all like to pretend they're so in touch with Japanese culture even though outside of anime they know next to nothing. As a real life Samurai myself who has sworn his life to a code whose origins are in Japanese history I find their annexation of Japanese culture offensive.
Anime is just one tenet of Japanese culture and it's an embarrassing one.

^^ Dude are you on crack. I love anime but I am not even close to being a nerd. I'm extremely fit I love baseball, football, soccer, tennis, badmington, kyaking, canoeing, fishing, camping.

And when you say about Catherine regardless of your strategies your still just pushing blocks you could say that about any game. For a shooter you could say regardless of your strategies your just shooting crap. If you play in very easy then I agree with you, but in normal or hard you are very wrong.

And dude what do you mean your a samurai. Like your in some stupid club at school with your friends? And dude I highly doubt your a real samurai. A friends of mine took an oath to be a buddhist monk, and trust me he is definately not. If you mean that you go to town with a kimono and a katana, then you should get help.

^ A nerd? Really dude if you could see me that is not even close to the case. If anything people would think I am a jock by looking at me. When I think of nerds I think of 120 pound weaklings (you know the type) that the only type of gf they have is in a videogame. And they memorized all episodes of Star Trek or some crap like that. So if it makes you feel better go ahead call me a nerd. Your probably what I just described, aren't you?

Maybe my past statements are a bit overboard and for that I'm sorry. But I hate it when people focus their opinons of people on stereotypes. Yes I play videogames, no that does not mean I play 8 hours a day in my mother's basement. And yes I like anime, but that doesn't mean I'm some pervert that only watches it for the women with  large breasts. It drives me completely crazy that I have to defend my interests from everyone because they can't believe that a normal person can like anime, and that a normal person can play videogames too. To the OP the main thing that pissed me off about your statements is that you speak with a sense of superiority. Like when you first said that all anime sucks. No they all don't, some are poorly done yes. But not all are just for fanservice etc. Then you said that all people that like anime are nerds and just want to "pretend to have japanese culture" or something like that. Just because I'm not japanese that doesn't mean I can't watch anime. And just because you are japanese doesn't mean you have to. One of my best friends is and hates all things anime.

Your on a forum for a video game company talking about video games or some otaku related thing. Your a nerd and you try to compensate for it by being a douche most if not all the time. If your a real life Samaurai you should have killed yourself long ago for bringing so much shame right?

And like any other show there is good anime. Samurai Champloo, Moribito, Ghost in the Shell hell most anime do a better job with the characters then western cartoon shows. Your just lumping all of them into one group and saying its all bad with no exception.
