I usually have to spend 400-500,000 gold to max out my characters level to 25 buying elfroot.

Whaaaaaat???????  Is the amount of gold you get on the console vastly different than the PC?  Or are you confusing copper for gold?

It takes a lot of elfroot to get up those last couple of levels. I think I pay about 20,000 gold to buy 40-50 lots of 99 elfroot. The amount of experience you need to get increases, so you need more elfroot to get the same amount of experience.I use the infinite money glitch to get the needed gold.

So we are saying the same thing regarding what levels the elfroot explooit is effective.

But still . . . elfroot is 56 silver per lot.  At that rate 50 lots x 0.56 gold = 28 gold.

You must be confusing gold with coppers.  I'm not trying to give you a hard time - I just want folks to get accurate information.

The price must be different at level 21 or on the PS3-I've got 1 elfroot for 1 silver 20 copper. 99 is 1 gold 18 silver. A lot of 10 will probably be 12 gold, and 40-50 48-60 gold. I wonder if the price increases if you go up levels.

No.  Scroll back up and read how much you said 40 - 50 elfroot costs you just a few posts ago.

You just contradicted yourself.  Stop defending your bad math and let anyone else who reads this thread get their elfroot exploit information here:  http://dragonage.wik...d_Supply_Crates

Really, I have no problem when a person makes a mistake.  But when a person tries to defend their mistake as truth after it's been pointed out, I have a no problem telling them less politely . . . YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT MIKE.

I was doing it from memory the first time I checked, I re-loaded a save the to double check 2nd time. it was the price I just quoted. I will check next time to see if its still that price. No need to be hateful on the forums.

If you really want to cheat yourself to level 25, use the trap lady in Lothering. She will net you gold as well as XP.

Alright.  As I said - I've no problem with people making mistakes.  Sorry for the hate.

Never - you end up being lvl 25 in tier 2 gear.  Since the game scales to the character level, that sounds like an invitation to get plowed.

But I only exploit between lvls 12 - 18.  Can't stand being a champion/templar without holy smite and upgraded war cry.

I didn't suggest you cheat all the way to level 25. Get a couple of levels and move on, you'll get to level 25 by the end of the game playing normally.

Even if you are worried about this:

you end up being lvl 25 in tier 2 gear

one visit to the Soldier's Peak chest will remedy that.

The Soldier's Peak chest has never levelled up anything for me on PC.  I always have to sell it to Mikhail then buy it back at triple the price.  Again . . . at the beginning of the game one does not have that kind of cash.

But whatever - I have a system that works for me and Mike Smith's 200,000 sovereign claim has been cleared up for newer players/forumites.  I'm moving on.

Not including DLC, I always do:

Redcliffe Part 1
Circle
Redcliffe Park 2
Brecelian
Orzammar
Urn of Sacred Ashes.

I understand it makes no sense to do the Urn last from a roleplaying view, but I hate everything about it so I just push it to the end.

I don't agree that it makes no sense to do the Urn last from an RP standpoint.  First, in order to do the urn, you have to go to Denerim which is risky with Loghain hunting you.  Secondly--objectively speaking--you have no real reason to believe that finding the urn is even possible.

Going to redcliffe first makes sense from an RP standpoint (though if you're a mage or dalish, I think the circle tower/brecilian woods might be alternatives)...but I think the Circle Tower is easier to do first, and it makes a certain decision in Redcliffe a lot more palatable.

So far I preferred to play as follows:
1. Soldier's Peak, for the storage space.
2. Broken Circle, for the attribute points.
Rest doesn't matter so much, but I leave Orzammar for the end and, in case I wish to side with the werewolves in Nature of the Beast, I go there last for the necessary coercion skills.

I usually first go to Redcliffe, then the circle (getting help for the ritual), urn of ashes, Brecilian, Ozrammar.
Only playing an elf or dwarf i change this, visiting first the respective homeland.

This trap exploit in Lothering i dont use anymore, its unnerving on pc to click thru her discussion every time. but i know my son uses it on ps3 to level up to 10-12 and get a more rounded character.

@Caradoc and Heinz
Yes, the chest works only on ps3. as a pc player i have to sell/buy it back. normally i do it only at level 18 to enhance the tier 5 sets up to tier 7.

The DLCs are a little bit to easy, i found, especially soldiers peak and shale. But a good way to level up your group if you want to do ozrammar first.
