I'm new to posting here, and after looking throught the rules and FAQs, i couldn't find anything on this particular topic: I have been a member of other forums, and some of said forums have a rule regarding older threads, such as one forum in which one could not post in a topic after it had not been posted in for more than a month. Is there such a rule regarding time between new posts in a thread on these boards, and if so, what is it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I don't want to unintentionally tick someone off, and thanks in advance to those who post helpful responses!

I don't think there is - though I have seen some moderators lock topics that was opened after 1-3 months again. Then, some other moderators let those threads stay opened.
In the very old days, threads got locked after 20 pages or so. Then threads got locked after no one posting in them for more than two weeks or a month. The beauty of this site is that 1) threads can stay open more than 20 pages and 2) 'dead' threads can be necromanced - but, for a good reason, it seems.

I was just wondering because there was a topic I was looking at about what different music or songs people thought fit the Mass Effect characters best, and I was about to post when I saw that the last post was in 2010. I'm still not sure whether I am allowed to "revive" the old thread, or just start a new one. Would this be an acceptable "revive" or not?

If the last post was in 2010, I think you're much better of starting a new thread with a link to to the old one. But when in you doubt, you could always PM Chris Priestly or John Epler and hear what they have to say.
