Well I just downloaded Wild_Mage.7z file using the fine Opera Browser. Site seemed to be slow today, but download time was 25 seconds. This is normal for where I live.
So I'm not sure if the Gremlins and Gnomes are done fighting in the background, so if you want downloads they are currently available as of this post.
I'm not sure about uploads, perhaps someone else may want to give it a shot.
FYI: The Vault Seems to be Fixed for Uploading

Also just down loaded a Mod (Legacy of the White Plume Mountain). Again site was very slow and unresponsive, but download was successful. I also have a text copy of the instructions.
I'm now thinking the Gremlins and Gnomes are more at a cease fire as to working with a finalized peace agreement. As such I will recommend that others who may be downloading make a copy of the instructions for their own reference in case the war starts again.
Opp, my mistake, thought there was a problem with both up and downloads. I guess my comments can be ignored.

Downloads have always worked. It's just that nothing new has been posted on the Vault in a month despite regular content submissions from the community.

I know my submissions are still sitting there - hell they are even stale now with newer versions. If it takes them this long to fix their stuff, they'd be fired long ago if they worked for any of the companies in my city.

It's hard to fire someone who works for free, though Marshall. That is to be borne in mind.

Damn skippy. And being a volunteer doesn't negate responsibility. If it's a case of resources just say so. If it's a case of dying site.. Say so. I go by the official response and not guesses.

Marshall, being a volunteer doesn't negate responsibility, however it does sometimes seriously limit one's ability to do something when things hit the fan. And with an attitude like that, you'd not have many volunteers helping out, I'd wager in Marshallopolis. I, too, am a volunteer and sometimes the attitude some folks display or the assumptions they make are extremely -- mm, how to say this politely? -- uninformed as to what, exactly a volunteer in some positions actually CAN do.
Like I said, it needs to be borne in mind. Responsibility is not ironclad authority to act, and respect is a two way street.

As manager of the NWVault, BeyondThePale, has absolutely no control over the data server move or the problems resulting from it. If there is a fault on the Vault, he has to submit a 'ticket' which the IGN tech guys pick up and try to fix.
Can you imagine the problems the whole IGN sites might well be trying to fix with this move? I have no idea if it is ONLY the data server move or if other upgrades have contributed.
Talking of sacking a person who has no recourse but to follow company policy is just plain outrageous, and is a result of being completely uninformed as to how the IGN network operates.
They've asked us to be please be patient, they have not said or even indicated that the NWVault is going off-line forever.
Marshall, if you have newer versions of your files and you are able to upload them over the existing ones you have waiting to be approved, upload them. When the Vault gets itself sorted out, your most recent file versions will be there to be published.
As DunniteOwl said, respect is a two way thing.
*Shakes her head*
Keep calm, don't fret about the Vault going anywhere but right where she belongs. Honestly...have a little faith!

Has anyone looked at how many other games Vaults are affected? Problems from a data center move I wouldn't expect to be affecting just one Vault out of the tens/hundreds IGN has, as I doubt the nwn Vault has dedicated hardware. If many Vaults were down, I would have expected some coverage by the gaming press.

The guys at the vault are providing a very good service and I think they probably do not receive enough recognition. I did not realize they were volunteers and based on that, they should receive a lot more recognition for what they do.

NWN1 appears to be affected in the same way in that the Top Modules List is not updating. I have not tried any uploads there, however.
I looked at several other sites: World of Warcraft vault, Lord of the Rings online, EverQuest2 vault and could not make heads or tails of whether they were active or working or anything.
Right now it seems best to trust Beyond the Pale and the vault admins to let us know if anything more serious is going on.

Today there is a sticky on the vault stating they are still working on getting things going. I believe this is a good sign.

The vault has started posting new files again!
They are not appearing on the front page yet, but you can access them from the "New Releases" pages:
NWN

NWN2

The top 15 modules list is now updating again and lots of new content was added yesterday. Looks like things are moving the right direction. Good job Beyond the Pale!

So, I guess we won't be "firing" BeyondThePale anytime soon, then.
Faith and patience is the key in these situations until otherwise made obviously moot.

I've been reading it and every once in a while it sort of makes sense. I'm hoping to have a few contributing spam-bots in the community in a few months. Maybe they could form a new reviewer's guild or something, as long as you don't mind advertisements for Gucci Boots Mango Boots in the middle of your Gucci Glasses Mango Glasses reviews.
