Why can't we stop this stuff and just rejoice that FemShep is getting the recognition a good part of the community has been fighting for years?

Congrats FemShep fans, today is a great day for you, and she looks great.

You obviously don't understand.

Ah, sad.
Well off to new discussions, points to be made, original results to be ignored.

Now it's "I'm a dirty walking pair of boobs".

LMFAO now people can finally sleep well at night because FemShep isn't blonde. She's ginger.

She probably had brown hair.  The red hair is dyed/fake.
Quit insulting real gingers.

Thank God it's finally over.

Lesson to be learned. Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it.

If this is going to start up again, i'm going to ressurect part an old post from a couple days on the other thread. Statistics are 4 days old, but not much should have changed:

Balek-Vriege wrote...

I thought I would crunch some numbers while watching the news after reading some more of this debate, and thought it could use some numbers at least, if we're going to continue debating whether or not people who think the poll may be fair in anyway may have a point. Lets list the results/% of vote as of about 15-20 minutes ago (from when I started typing this and finished the "math" stuff in that time) I used from polls 1 and 2.

Poll 1:

Total Votes: 72849
Femshep 1: 7,994 - 10.97% (short hair, black)
Femshep 2: 5,295 - 7.27% (redhead, freckles)
Femshep 3: 11,412 - 15.67% (Asian-looking, black ponytail)
Femshep 4: 12,986 - 17.82% (Black Shep)
Femshep 5: 31,506 - 43.25% (Blonde Shep)
Femshep 6: 3,656 - 5.02% (Eastern looking Shep)

Notes towards various arguments/general: 41,343 votes/56.75% not for Femshep 5; 31, 506 votes/43.25% voted for Femshep 5 regardless of hair colour; 5,295/7.27% voted for Femshep 2 textures/look/redhair; 12,986/17.82% voted for runner up; 16642 votes/22.84% voted for a darker skinned shep, 36048 votes/49.48% voted for black haired Shep; unknown amount of blonde voters wanted different hair colour

Poll 2:

Total Votes: 42,612
Femshep 1: 12,606 - 29.58% (Black Hair)
Femshep 2: 5,337 - 12.52% (Blonde)
Femshep 3: 5,482 - 12.86% (Dirty Blonde/Brunette)
Femshep 4: 19,187 - 45.03% (Red Hair, Freckles)

Note towards various arguments/general: Blonde vs. Dirty Blonde/Brunetter have almost identical numbers and % (arguably a split by looking at numbers alone); Red hair has much stronger showing than poll 1; Option 4 has unique texture additions; Blonde Shep has 5,337 votes/12.52%; Dirty-Blonde has 5,482 votes/12.86% ; Blonde/Dirty-Blonde together have 10,819 votes/25.38%; 31,793 votes/74.61% voted against "Femshep 5" and dirty blonde/Brunette; 37,275 votes/87.48% more or less voted not for Femshep 5; Freckle textures being a 5th place winner in poll 1 are now on 1st place winner of poll 2; first place textures on winner of poll 1 are now losing in poll 2.

Now based on those people can make some easier claims about how things were represented from poll 1 in poll 2, since hair colour change wasn't the only thing in poll 2 changed.

There's another half of that post where I show a possible scenario of how you can go from the results of poll 1 With a large Femshep 5 majority), to within 1-3 percentage points of each result in poll 2 (a very small Femshep 5 majority). All with a couple basic assumptions about how the votes would split up and tally (which also showed how most Femshep 5 voters may have liked the original blonde Shep better), but I don't feel like regurgitating it. I think the process was a bit unfair to people who originally had their choice win in the first poll and some things like freckles/green eyes sort of snuck through the process as well. That doesn't change the fact the new Femshep is decided on.

The debate about how many people voted in one poll compared to another is meaningless.  When it comes to polls it's the percentages that matter.  70,000 vs. 40,000 votes is more than a big enough sample size to get an idea of where something is going.   Both polls hardly moved in their percentages for the whole voting, so they're both an accurate read of how people would vote in each.

In the end, we're still going to have to wait for a Femshep trailer to make a final judgement of how good/not good she looks. As of now Femshep is a Redhead with freckles and green eyes. People against it now may actually like the final in game model and people for it now may hate the final in game model. Until then, I bet this debate rages on until the trailer is released and the hot air over that eventually calms down.

I was thinking last night about how they could manage to get a trailer done so fast, since poll two is only like 2 weeks old. I wasn't too surprised to not see a trailer, although I did get my hopes up. Image IPB

Am I a killjoy for saying that this is hardly an announcement...and that redShep picture is no where near the quality I expect from Patryk?

Blonde FemShep: 31,000 votes
Redhead FemShep: 19,000 votes

Bonde FemShep: 31k out of about 75k = about 41%
Redhead FemShep: 19k out of about 43k = about 44%

I'm glad this is finally over even if the one I wanted didn't win. Honestly, it's not like I'm ever going to play the default FemShep. Custom is so much better. :-)

Mathematics are the devil's candy.

The only important thing is that one number is bigger than the other. Leave your 'percentages' back at the clan meeting, Adolf.

Redheads have more fun. Plus people can still make her blonde if they really want. Really don't get the pointless rage about this. Hey ME community, pick something more important, like the lack of armor customization for companions or the vastly fewer skills to put points into. *shakes head*

True.  The only thing I see people may be disliking is that it doesn't look 100% like the Femshep in the concept art for the polls. Image IPB

Not at all. She looks like a child. Not really digging the pic. It looks like there's something wrong with her face.

I think you're right. It also makes me think that Bioware still hasn't done a 3D rendition of her (or prepped for a trailer at all), or we wouldn't get such a ... awful angle on her face. Seriously -- I can't believe this is his work. If he had even a 3D model to look at, he could've come up with something much better.

Dear god, that is terrible.

Well if we're going to gang up on the dude's artwork, I have to say that I wasn't particularly impressed with any of his pieces - skillful and well executed, yes, but I didn't care for the design of the pictures (poses, framing, etc.).

I feel bad about being mean to artists today, though, after reading this. Uh, so, I take it all back, he's an amazing artist and I probably am just too much of a pleb to get it.

As said it really was a speed job 100k considering the vote timeframe.  He probably didnt have that much time as the vote was close untill the last couple of days, but it still a powerful image and potrays her character well.  Other then her face (which I assume is where your focusing) the rest of the picture is fantastic!

At the end of the interview David said there will be future screenshots and the likes.  So expect some great stuff to come.   Fingers crossed poster and Lithographs at the store! B)
