Is there anyway to find out if players can import their old save yet still pick to use default FemShep instead? I really wanna know this.

It will probably work exactly like it did in Mass Effect 2.  Importing your old save will bring up the character creation screen regardless.  So from there you can either continue with your old face, make a new one or choose default Femshep.

The one thing that is different is changing your class will take away special perks given from importing your character.

Oh I hope so. I mean I have some doubt though, cause ME2 had plausible reason, the whole being rebuilt point. This, well y'know. But hopefully you're right.

Remember that even in Mass Effect 2 you really didn't change your face with the Cerberus rebuild.  You were built exactly the way you were in ME1.  It was just an interesting way of presenting character creation in a story connected way.

-ME1 character creation was your Alliance Profile being loaded.
-ME2 character creation is sort of the blueprint for rebuilding Shepard the way he/she used to be.
-ME3 i'm guessing will be something like ME1.  Maybe a rap sheet of some type for your trial.

In other words, you're retconning your character.

Oh I hope so! This new default femshep is beautiful. And not only that, but if she's anything like default sheploo, she'll look just amazing compared to custom femshep.

Yeah there probably won't be a comparison.  I'm definitely going to use default Femshep in ME3.

I've always felt it's so sad the compared to default sheploo all the customs look like ****.
But now we have this. And unlike default sheploo, this default I actually really like. Big time like.

And here's to hoping people can get back to celebrating that Femshep is finally getting the recognition she has long deserved, rather than continue fighting about something so trivial.

Get back to it?  If there had ever been a point where that was the case we wouldn't have had this nonsense to begin with.

She looks lovely, pity we couldn't have got her without dredging up all sorts of filth about blondes in the process, thanks for that.

People need to read the damned novels, you have fifty year olds looking no older than 30 I see no reason why a reconstructed 30 year old wouldn't look barely out of her teens.

Yeah, some pretty unkind things were said about blondes just because some people wanted a different hair color... apparently I'm a ho-bag skank with a sub-par IQ who makes a living selling my body for sex to make a living.. all because I was born blonde...... mmm.. kay. <_<

I certainly see your point regarding the age thing... you're right it does make sense since they've slown down the rate of aging and celluar degeneration since humans can live to 120 or 150 was it? I forget. So in that regard, a 32 year old shep looking barely 20 does kinda make sense (though default male shep certainly looks at the very least 32 if not older... just pointing that out).

Just that midget feminist in me that I tell to shut up and go away trying to sneak out and protest the fact that it's ok for the male to look over 30.. but the woman has to look almost like a teen... and as a 32 year old myself, I would certainly like to see a woman that looked her age in game :innocent:

Not gonna candycoat anything...
  • She looks like a kid.
  • Her pose makes no sense, unless she's falling over. Or sitting. And grinding her gun into the rubble.
  • The background adds nothing.

I thought she was sitting...?

Personally find the crossed eyes and the nose bleed lulzy (finally, someone who actually looks messed up after a battle as opposed to all thoes movie stars whose hair never gets outta place.)

I'd chalk the whole age thing dwn to the Lazaurus Project (but yeah she does look too young)

I had an issue with the blonde look myself, and it's not because I think blondes are bimbos or are less intelligent than others. I see blondes in media all the time, and often in lead roles. Maybe not in science-fiction, but in all kinds of various media. But I don't think she would be a weak female lead just because she has blond hair. After all, one of my favourite badass women is Captain/Major/Lt. Colonel/Colonel Samantha Carter of Stargate SG-1 is a blonde and I believe the smartest person on Earth in the Stargate universe. Another one of my favourites is Buffy Summers, who is also blonde. Falling Skies have both Karen and Margaret, two blond haired women I think are very strong characters and very badass, and no doubt intelligent.

I also thought that having a strong, female lead character represented in default by a women of red hair would be different and great. Seldom have I seen female leads, especially in science-fiction, with red hair. As far as strong lead female character go, I can think of Lucy Ricardo, Barbara Gordon, Pepper Pots, and Amelia Pond off the top of my head. 3-out-of-4 being in sci-fi isn’t bad (if you count Barbara Gordon and Pepper Pots as sci-fi, though I’m not sure why you wouldn’t). But look at what that horrible Batman movie did to Batgirl, giving her over to a blond haired girl not even related to the commissioner (and then causing people to not know Batgirl is actually Gordon’s daughter and think that in the comics she’s Alfred’s niece for some stupid reason!). But I digress.

One of the *biggest* reasons I was against the blond-haired character was the same reason I was against the dark haired character as well; the hair was too long. For a character that so often sees combat and was a military-for-life kind of woman, having such long hair would seem a hassle and to get in the way. I could understand make-up. But long, flowing hair? Despite the attractiveness of Ashley with her hair down, I’m still against it for the fact that it’s just in the way. It doesn’t seem efficient. That’s part of the reason why my elf character (my avatar) had her hair pulled back (though it was also partly so her ears were shown).

There was also a lack of the default image in that poll, which is what upset me. I like what they ended up going with.

Let's not pretend that Blondie's detractors are the only ones that drew their swords and said mean things.

Despite being a very popular look for women of all walks of life these days, Femshep 1 was called "butch," "******," "lesbian," and "ugly" for being "unfeminine." JUST FOR HAVING SHORT HAIR. Nothing wrong with being lesbian, but the term was used as an epithet and hardly in a fair manner.

Femshep 4 was similarly likened to being a **** for reasons that make me shake my head at humanity in general. (But the hair was ridiculous in my opinion.)

Femsheps 2 and 3 were so mundane that they hardly had a word said about them. Femshep 6 practically didn't exist.

My beef with Femshep 5 was twofold: 1) she was the most marketable because she was the most "pin-up worthy," being the very image of the blond-haired, blue-eyed Western beauty ideal. Those who were voting for her in droves were justifying it based on "hotness" and similarly vapid reasoning. Or saying she was like Samus Aran. No, not really she wasn't, IMO. That said, I love Samus. I main her in Brawl and have played Metroid since the NES game. However, I wanted Femshep to be unique, not be a heroine in the mold of a more popular sci-fi heroine. No surprise that she won with such a landslide: Femshep 5 appealed to the lowest common denominator of gamers. It's a good thing that Bioware made a "Finals" to the voting, because that's when the true colors of the community.

Nozybidaj especially is running around with the most idiotic logical fallacy in his signature. He's comparing one result from one poll to another result from a DIFFERENT poll. Femshep 5 won in the initial polling; in the follow-up, Red won. Blondie won the NFC Championship but she lost in the Super Bowl.

See my signature for the cold hard reality of it.

She would still "look like a man" in the concept had the blonde won. The only things that would have changed would be the hair color, eye color, and a beauty mark in place of freckles.

Also, this is just concept art, so it's not going to be 100% how she looks like in the game, if that's what you're worried about. :)

I'm sure they'll fix it up, but the face just bothers me. My complaints are meerly on a artist standpoint though.

Good to see that in Patryk's art female Shepard actually looks like a soldier not a Barbie. I like it.

There; David now has the sullen teen cheerleader/goth-mix girl, that the whole thing was set up to result in, to begin with. Good to see it over with.

Now I kind of hope somebody would slash the remaining development time in half, to prevent BW from using some of those manhours to give her the full Samus Aran treatment...

'S just concept art. The in-game model will be using a 3D model and will probably only look similar to this one. At the very least, she probably won't look quite so young.

My only problem with her face is that it looks off when it's NOT viewed in HD. Also, her nose is crooked no matter how you look at it.

At least you understand what I'm talking about, a lot of people were looking at my post like "wtf is that moron spewing?", but from an artist's standpoint the concept art is sloppy and not very well done.
