C'mon! Can't you people who hate the red hair just shut up and give this too us! I'm a red head and we have no where near as much representation as blondes and brunettes. Just look how many strong characters throughout media are blonde or brunette! Who do the red heads have? Mary Jane Watson? That's no kind of life. She's nothing but a glorified damsel in distress, who's grown to popular for her own good. There are maybe one or two strong female red heads throughout all media. Give us this.

Have you counted as many blondes there is in Mass Effect games? I think I saw 2-3 of them. If ME games need some haircolor, it's blonde, there are a lot more of redheads there. We don't even have party member with blonde hair. Leilanna was pretty strong in Dragon Age, not to mention Scarlett in G.I.Joe.

But people shouldn't care about the haircolor really. Personaly I don't like red hair that much, it's my least favourite. But, I don't really mind Shepard having it. Just pointing out that blondes have it worse in ME universe. I think it has something to do with blonde hair gene being regressive. Dunno... Posted Image

I retracted previous statement because I realized it was going too far. Apologies (but I still hate the picture and I never complain about anything).

I shall take my statement back as well.

I know that. But it's a finished illustration is it not? Is that going on the box? Not important really, but I'm allowed an opinoin on how she looks, and she looks like a little kid with dyed hair in armor.

That is concept art not cover art. I don't know how simpler anyone can make it.

LOL.. So from my perspective, the people that are complaining the most are the people who are butthurt over the fact that their choice wasn't chosen. Here's an emote for you! /uploads_user/1070000/1069890/80753.gif

Shepard being 90% new tissue makes her pretty young, yes, even biologically. New tissue is new tissue. Old Shepard is dead, New cloned Shepard special is a year old. People can argue all they want it doesn't change the facts.

I don't think this person is talking about red hair Mass Effect. Red hair in all games seems to be the point. I don't see many red head female main characters in gaming.

It was my fault. I started it with my overreactions.
I just really like Femshep, and don't want her image shifted so drastically. It is amazing how one picture can deviate in facial rendering and overall tone so far from already existing imagery.

I don't get this argument.

Lets see, people were begging for years for a new - and better - default femshep. So, finally - and to some too late - they decided to make a new one using a contest where the fans can vote for hair, color & whatever...which is really no different from what we can already do in game.
Would a model be any different?

To be honest i dont understand why your quote, maybe you would get it better if you would see the conversation with Shimmer_Gloom and Ultramarinus. I'm not really in the mood to explain myself right now for something taken out of context.

Personally i'm looking forward for the femShep trailer and i hope it turns out to be awesome ^_^

Ok, here's a theory for everyone going on about the attractiveness of her. Even today people are trying to do something that'll let them genetically change the babies before they're impregnated into the woman. And we know that there are genetic changes done to people in the ME universe. Now, we've never seen an ugly or fat woman in these games. Maybe they use genetics manipulation to make them all attractive? That's my theory anyway.

I'm glad this is over. I quite like her though the blonde will always be the winner in my eyes. (And what my Shepard looks like.)

In the novels, Kahlee Sanders is said
to look around 30 despite being around 50. I haven't read them, so I
don't actually know if this was due to advances in medicine or simply
very god genes, but this is the example most people bring up when they
talk about aging in ME.

Ah, thanks.

LadyDrusilla wrote...

Yep, disturbing how many people on the Mass Effect forums know so little about the Mass effect setting. It is mentioned explicitly in one of the novels, perhaps Ascension, that advances in medicine mean people age much later and that there is no reason why someone in their fitieswon't look like a fresh faced thirty year old. Whinging about it just shows your ignorance of the setting.

I read the novels, I didn't remember that right away.
Disturbing how some people on the Mass Effect forums are such ****s.

Eudaemonium wrote...
XD I seriously don't get why people are
saying she looks so young. I mean she looks young, but not the thirteen
people keep bringing up. She does look younger in Patryk's art than in
the 'official' artwork, I'll give people that.

It's mostly the mouth.  Too small for a grown up.

I would've voted for the gingersnap
Femshep that won, but I'm skeptical of red hair in ME's brand of the
Unreal engine -- it always looked a bit too red to me.

Are you sure it is the engine?  I assumed the real ginger look was considered too bland.

I can't say I'm a huge fan of the artwork but I absolutely love that so much work and effort is going into FemShep now. I also approve of the redhead Shepard. For me, no artwork is ever really going to portray Shepard perfectly because it's not going to be my Shepard. So, I'm fine with that.

I enjoyed watching the announcement though and really appreciated Jennifer Hale thanking the fans who called out for more FemShep representation. I'm looking forward to that trailer now. ^^

Well, they had to make new genetic material with samples from Shepards 29 year old cells. That means, if you take cell samples from a 29 year old person to make new tissue out of it its still 29 year old tissue, just old cells duplicated.
If I cut my skin my body creates new tissue to overgrow the injury, but this doesn't make this particular area of my skin any younger.

And by the way, I didn't even vote.

So let me get this straight - are they revealing FemShep today or was the reveal that we get the redhead Femshep? Are we gonna see the Femshep trailer today?

Actually its more likely to be tissue regenerated from old tissue. Also Shepard at that age could likely look 10 years younger. Mass Effect humans live to be 150 so Shepard should be able to look pretty young. The Concept art is inaccurate and anyone who takes that as an accurate depiction of in game shepard hasn't been paying attention.

But that was what was great about her; she could be ignored.  This new one is in my face, just like sheploo.

While I do agree with ... Jean Grey, Poison Ivy and  Black Widow, Hope Summers,  Rahne Sinclair,  Rachel Summers all would like to you have  word with you about  that this.

As far the people complaining let them whine its not going to change a thing... the game is going to come out and  she is going to look the same  and then after they beat the game a billizion times they will come on here and whine some more about something else.

Haters gonna  Hate
Whiners gonna whine

Yep that is the whole point of this. For bioware to make a marketable Fem shep thats supposed to be ignored. Yep that makes perfect sense <_<

I know right!
You got something wrong in your head Dragon, the point of this is to make something people will remember, not something they'll ignore. Most companies would be out of buisness if they only did advertising people would ignore.

While I think that this whole "choose what default female shepard looks like" bruhaha that has been going on for the past month or so was utterly absurd, especially so late in the franchise, I am happy that they went with the short haired redhead (after all, short haired redhead was the original femshep's style).

I think the biggest problem with the way people voted for their femshep choices was that they didn't vote for the femshep they wanted to be, but instead, they voted for the femshep they wanted to bang.

I mean come on, are you srs? A blonde, blue eyed, ditsy, big titted shep won the most votes? How many cliches can you pack into one character? Thank god they didn't pick the hormone driven, sex depraved, ME fan choice for femshep default. It would have been too silly to have femshep go from a bamf saving the world to a pornstar.

The ME community on the whole is far to sexually deprived to be relied upon for meaningful input on these kinds of things. Plus, immaturity runs rampant on these forums for sure.
