And for everyone complaining about freckles.  Those that say freckles take away from her epicness?  You are seriously horrible people bordering on racism, but most certainly espousing prejudice.

For those complaining that you won’t be able to get rid of the freckles, did you use the Character Creator?  You can have your Shepard be as pale as printer paper or as dark as night.  You can also change the structure of their head.  And by the gods you can increase or decrease the size of their face.  Last but not least, you can *gasp* also change the complexion!

First of all, my problem with freckles is that it only goes well with redhead (not even all tones of it)
and nothing else. By itself, custom MacShep is coherent.

Bioware told that it will not be customizable so only chance of any change is via a mod. However as demonstrated in DA2, you cannot change the skin. Only hair color, hair style and eye color. And freckles with that complexion will look at the very least weird, if not outright horrible (higher chance).

Man, I really like this picture of Ashley.  Makes me almost regret having my Shepard bang every female in sight in ME2:

Image IPB

She looks at once like a strong, capable yet still very feminine woman.....keyword woman, and not some punk goth kid...

Why can't FemShep look like that?

Perhaps.
Old armor was cooler, tho.

Changing the complexion of your Shepard so that she doesn't have freckles removes all the hi-res textures?

You won't be able to edit the default face.

That shouldn't be much of a complaint since Bioware never meant for ME to be very mod friendly anyway.

The concept art shep is not going to look exactly like the default shepard.

I know that.  But still, look how long FemShep fans have been waiting for some real marketable material for FemShep, and this.....this.......this is how they are rewarded?

If I were a FemShep fan, I'd be offended..

The first complaint is that they should let us customize the preset face in the first place! But since they didn't give a damn about it, we had to resort to mods. But now they're screwing that over as well. That's a perfectly valid thing to complain about.

What does an epic hero look like?  I bet you can't give me a solid description of one, because unless you're a fan of classic Greek literature, real heros come in all shapes and sizes..

Anyway, the default Shepard was always portrayed as a soldier, and Sheploo definitely looks like a soldier imo.  The only thing he's lacking is a more robust build.  He should be taller and more muscular, but it doesn't matter.

The other classes, while not as weapons oriented as the soldier, are still combat specialists.  Regardless of your class, Shepard will always be a warrior first and foremost so he must look the part..

What does a soldier look like?  Because I know tons of them, real soldiers.  Many of them look nothing like Sheploo.  I know females that are serving that look younger than FemShep.  Your logic of "Sheploo definitely looks like a soldier" logic fails.  I bet you can't give me a solid description of a soldier, because unless you're a fan of classic 80's action movies, real soldiers come in all shapes and sizes.

Sorry, did I miss something on my goth punk checklist?

1)  Pale skin.....check!

2)  Dark lip stick.....check!

3)  Greasy messed up looking hair.....check!
I guess the only things she's missing are blue highlights and piercings up the wazoo..  Image IPB

As for your real life examples, do you think any of them could be in the Special Forces?  No, of course not, so why even bring them up?

So you insult soldiers currently serving in the United States military by saying they aren't cut out for Special Forces because they don't live up to your specific image of what the Special Forces are?

The concept art Fem shep isn't necessarily being marketed at all. The Cover art Fem shep is.

They didn't let you customize Sheploo for 2 games. Why would it change now?

I need to ask, why wouldn't they let that happen since back then? Surely isn't a reason that 60$ can't cover.

I figured it was because Mark Vanderloo didn't want things added to "his" face, like grotesque scars and such.

Gah! I hate it when people answer questions with another question. Ask a Bioware dev that. Its possible it could be something a part of the contract or something not exactly sure but since we can't customize the default fem shep face I don't think that is the case.

I never heard that they modeled MacShep or Hawke after a real person but even then, I don't think that those people would be outraged if their hair gets dyed in the game.

Maybe in sleeker, more form fitting looks...

but I prefer'd ME2 armor for the simple fact of the customization.

I know lots of soldiers too.  In fact, I used to be in the Armed Forces myself.

At any rate, thats irrelevent.  The point is, Sheploo looks like an archetypical soldier, which is good for marketing and brand recognition.  In real life, heros come in all shapes and sizes, and so do soldiers.  But Mass Effect isn't real life, and I'm certain that fans don't want to see a pot bellied Shepard..

So you insult soldiers currently serving in the United States military by saying they aren't cut out for Special Forces because they don't live up to your specific image of what the Special Forces are?

How am I insulting soldiers?  I was merely stating the truth.  Special forces soldiers in the U.S military are all male, and have much higher physical standards than regular troops.

You bringing up the female soldiers you know in real life in an effort to legitamize the depiction of FemShep (who is supposed to be Special Forces) is thus nonsensical..

As someone who is pale, has loads of piercings, and generally considers herself "punk," I am not offended because being offended is overrated!

In all seriousness: you neglected to mention "dyed black hair" and "soulless eyes." And I doubt that sanguine lipstick counts as being "goth" in style. Not that those matter, given that the actual face that'll be rendered doesn't have cherry-dark lipstick and greasy hair, as shown by the official-official artwork that has Femshep in the same pose as Sheploo.

Sorry to say that but Sheploo is mind blowingly boring, he looks like a goalkeeper known around here and is constantly made fun of. But that's irrelevant, my point is that he's just another generic 30-something black-haired caucasian male you can find in 95% of computer games. It's as tired and cliché as a character can possibly get.

No, I don't expect him to be like that ultra politically correct Morales Spider-Man but come on, way too bland with no imagination at all. Talking about the face by the way, not body.

Sheploo and the upcoming Sheplette are custom "hand built" models. They do not fit within the the facegen constraints, or are too constrained to fit within it, depending on how you look at it.

You *could* probably shoehorn them in there, given enough work, maybe even without causing too much odd stretching in various situations, etc, but meh.

Yes, dyed black hair is definitely a typical goth/punk attribute.  I've seen some with flaming red and blue hair as well though..

And thanks for teaching me a new word.......sanguine.  Had to look that one up! Image IPB

Just hair style & color & eye color would be enough for a start and that can be done with a mod anyway. And complexion now that we have MacShep.

Well, the primary market for Mass Effect (and most other action oriented games) are 20 to 35 year old caucasian males, so........

Either way, people would still have complained.  For me personally, as long as Shepard looks the part, then I have no problem.  He could be asian, black, white, mulatto, it doesn't really matter.
