Alright, I know everyone's sick of hearing about this quest and its many "issues," though I have yet to hear of a solution to this particular problem, assuming one exists.

I did Soldier's Peak(DLC) very early in the game so I'd have access to the storage chest. I completed A Paragon of Her Kind BEFORE I did Broken Circle. I felt it unnecessary to walk around with the lyrium on me so I stowed it away in my nifty little chest then went on my merry way. I just finished Broken Circle and went to turn in the lyrium to Godwin(after recovering it from storage, obviously) and it's not giving me an option to sell it to him, it's only letting me question him as to why he needed it in the first place, and just imagine the look on my face when I check my quest log, for curiosty's sake, and it tells me that I "failed to deliver the Lyrium."

Is there a soluion to this, or am I doomed to wander this land with forty souvereigns worth of smuggled lyrium for all eternity?

It's really a bug as such; not even a glitch.

The game seems to work using the assumption that in taking the quest you keep the lyrium in your inventory until you actually sell to Godwin. The moment it is removed from your inventory the game updates your quest to show that you failed to complete the task.

It's not what you wanted to hear, I know. But that's the way the game is.

Well, at least I can sell it now knowing there's nothing I can do about it which is far better than selling the lyrium and having someone tell me a way around the bug.

The only 'way around it' would be to load an earlier save, i.e., one before you placed the lyrium into the storage chest. Though it would mean a tremendous amount of replaying from what I can gather from your post, and assumes you have an earlier save.
