I never really got the point of amplification. I mean I can see its potential; but it seems like it would get monotonous using it every time before you fire off one of your other powers. Alternatively I suppose you could have it active just for the opening volley of an engagement; but that doesn't sound very useful.

The lift grenade sounds like it could be a nice addition to the Sentinel's arsenal since it gives you a way to set up as well as detonate warp combos. Although I hope its cooldown and duration are timed like "Slam" in Mass Effect 2 so that a Sentinel can't use it to set up and set off their own warp combos like an Adept can.

PS: Its been confirmed that we still get bonus powers in Mass Effect 3 right? I seem to recall reading that; but I can't seem to find it.

Did Bioware ever confirm whether or not we still need to unlock certain powers by putting points into another power? (i.e 3pts into warp unlocks throw)

Last I heard, some powers are locked depending on your level.  By the time you get to around Level 20 they should all be unlocked, so there's no prereqs other than level as far as we know.

Just read about the Martial Artist evo path for Soldiers and holy isht, that's awesome. I really really hope my favorite CQC classes like the Sentinel have it too (or something super similar).

What do we know about Lift Grenades and Lockdown so far? And do Sentinels still have that double-thrust melee or was it changed? I've been too busy disintegrating and decapitating bandits and frost trolls as Thor to follow the most recent ME3 updates lol, but it's time to get back in Mass Effect mode with March rapidly approaching.

IIRC, click on the "combat" button. Right under all the new Sentinel tidbits about Lift Grenades there's that.

I will freely admit I hate hand to hand combat in most shooters because I think it is usually far too powerful ending up as a primary form of attack instead of being the backup it should be, that being said I can probably safely ignore it since you have to invest a lot into it so a martial artist build or whatever is cool with me. Though a damage boost for follow up attacks when you kill someone always seemed kind of lame to me and seems more berserker than martial artist.

Knowing how I generally play as a Soldier (guns, guns, and more guns B) ), I can already say that I'll be avoiding the left Evolution paths and be focusing on Durability, Shield Recharge, and (whatever the heck that is) Fitness Expert for my ME3 build.

Apparently Overpower is also being replaced by Biotic Grenade for the Adept's unique power? Jesus, isn't Frag Grenade, Sticky Grenade, Flash Bang Grenade, and Lift Grenade enough in terms of grenades?

what will dinstinguish the adept more since a powerful biotic combo is available for the sentinel now?

Biotic Grenade, which does a ton of force, flinging enemies across the screen. It's awesome. And yes just started Mad Men

I think...the melee build would be better with a vanguard. Soldiers may have health but that doesn't equal survivability. If you're taking the time to run up to an enemy on insanity, something tells me you won't last long.

I probably won't choose that talent spec either. At least not until someone posts a good video of a melee spec on youtube.

From the look of things I'll be treating Fitness the same way I did in ME1, as a low priority.  I'm far more interested in weapon damage than I am in surivability.  The way I see it they can't hit me if I've already blown their heads off.

As someone with a preference for Sniper Rifles and accurate Assault Rifles a melee soldier build isn't in the cards for me; but I see how it could work.

If you evolved your adrenaline rush to maximize damage resistance and duration then you could use it to help you cover the distance to get in close.   Combine that with a bonus power that you can use to regenerate your shields like Geth Shield boost, Fortification or Barrier and you should be beefy enough to get in close and unleash with a combination of shotgun blasts and melee strikes.

Not to mention how situational it is, I'd rather have a constant than situational as well.

So in other words, bascially it's like a grenade version of Warp-bombing, only without needed to Throw/Pull/Shockwave on the enemy first and then use Warp while he's affected by biotics?

One of the Soldier's passive evolutions in ME2 vastly increased your storm speed. If it returns, couple that with some of the melee specs we've seen and some Adrenaline Rush damage resistance and the soldier might actually make for one of the best CQC classes this time around. Which might actually get me to play that otherwise-boring-as-can-be class.

One thing I loved about ME2 was how rewarding it was to think outside the box in terms of properly spec'd Sentinels and Infiltrators (yes, Infiltrators) being just as capable at CQC as the Vanguard. Hell, even my Engineer was a CQC beast with Drone locking down enemies for my shotgun rushdown.

With the way things are looking, Bioware's putting much more emphasis on melee action this time around, which makes someone like me who can't stand hiding behind some cowardly rifle scope a happy, happy camper. XD

Well, if you're not happy with your specs, you can always re-spec at any time on the ship.

This is a great compilation/resource OP, thanks.

On a personal note, does anyone else hate the term "Henchmen"?

Some of them. Their passive powers don't have names, though.

Absolutely.  It's a word with many connotations that aren't too cool.  Mainly it screams, "I am subservient and weak" and "I work for Blofeld on the moon!"

this makes me sad. only becasue i NEED the adept to be a great class in ME3.

overpower never seemed all that great to me. it sounded like a ME1 weapon mod, but for biotics. like marskman for your biotics. which might seem cool, flinging abilities more frequently, but why do i need "overpower" when im already evolveing the hell out of my abilities anyways? i need ANOTHER method to make my abilities even better? i wouldnt like the gameplay outside of using overpower. and even worse was the fact that i had to waste one of my 3 hotkeys on a passive ability. which is disastrous to a caster character who moved on from the pause and play powerwheel boringness.

something that really irritates me is what the hell is going on with powers being replaced by weapons? really, whats the point in creating something like biotics, or tech mines, and then sepereatly create weapons that are better versions of said abilities. "hey heres lift grenade! its a biotic ability the works like pull and lift worked, but its a GRENADE instead. so yeah, its backwards and everything, but hey look it lifts those guys up in the air. oOOooOoHHhHhhhH!"

im feeling horrible waves of bad feelings that i havent felt since i first started playing ME2. this isnt good. please dont **** it up with biotics again bioware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol I didn't see this before I PM'd you back but lol oh man did I call that. Believe it or not I'm mostly with you on all this though.

Except I think Lift Grenades sound like an awesome fit for Sentinels (more much-needed CC, doesn't compete with other cooldowns, comboability, and most important of all: they're Biotics in Tech form, which screams Sentinel to me).

Agreed. Lift grenades actually seem like a very well thought and versitile additional power for Sentinels.

The Adept's biotic grenades on the other hand just seems like they ran out of ideas and said, "Ah screw it, give them a purple neon grenade!". However, I'll reserve final judgment until I see it in action.
