Also, why doesn't Vega have CS? Does Ashley get it? 'Cause I thought she was lethality with Vega being survivability. It would be odd if she got the high-force power and Vega the high-damage one. Seems kinda backwards.

Garrus:
- Concussive Shot

- Armor-Piercing Ammo
- Proximity Mine

I believe it was said previously that Vega would be getting Carnage.
Yeah, he'll get Fortification, Incendiary Ammo, Frag Grenades and Carnage.
Huh...since carnage is his only damaging ability - I imagine it will be strong..right? (Frag grenades have a limited amount so..carnage is probably going to be used a lot more).

It kinda makes me worried he'll be OP. The devs said Ashely is lethality, yet this might suggest she's not getting the high-damage Soldier power, which would be odd. If this is the case, anyway, Vega is both survivability and lethality.lightsnow13 wrote...

With that in mind, I'm betting Ash gets CS, an ammo power (disrupter?), a ME2 bonus power (incendiary grenade?) and either one totally new power or another ME2 bonus power.
Kaidan's a little more tricky. His class powers could be pretty much any combination of Cryo Blast, Overload, Throw, Warp, and Lift Grenade. I'm betting on Lift Grenade being one of his powers, but have no clue what the other one would be. Then he'd need a ME2 bonus power (most likely barrier), and then either a new power or another ME2 bonus power.
Hmmmm...

Barrier was great - but I hated anyone that had a defensive power. It basically meant anytime you needed their power, too bad, they were on cooldown for 12 seconds. On insanity, shields don't matter as much as power.

However, having one active adds to your encumbrance meter, the same one weapons run off of. If you go over the encumbrance limit, you take a penalty to your power cooldown times. Soldier's passive gives them a bonus to encumbrance limit, and it is possible that some of the other classes will have this too. It is also possible that even with a small encumbrance limit, an Adept could go in with only a pistol, put up barrier, and suffer no penalty.
Note that this is only about 75% confirmed info, and I'm speculating a bit based on dev comments, power evolutions, and info from the leaked script.
EDIT: Also, I've been doing the math, and so far, we know that each squadmate gets two bonus powers. From the leak, we know that there are eight squadmates (counting Ashley/Kaidan as seperate). That gives us 16 slots for bonus powers. ME2 had 14 bonus powers, and so far Garrus and Vega each have one old power and one new power. That means that, unless they intend to give out the ME2 bonus powers some other way, there is litterally no more rome for new powers. Just something to keep in mind.

You are not considering the temporary squadmates though. We will only have 8 permanent squadmembers, but we will be teaming up with the likes of Miranda (Slam), Legion (Geth Shield Boost), and Thane (Shredder Ammo) so they could have bonus powers that our permanent squadmates do not. And there seems to be overlap as well, since Grunt has Fortification as well as Vega, and Jack has Warp Ammo as well as Liara.

Barrier/Fortification/GSB/Tech Armor got completely revamped. They don't break, for one thing, so you only even have to apply them once. Instead of adding extra shields/health, they instead reduce damage in general, and can be stacked.

This...is amazing! I might actually choose a defensive power for an extra ability! I never chose one. On insanity, defense abilities were basically useless. I'd always go for reave or stasis.
Thanks for the info!

Wait, Shepard gets 197 skill points in ME3? Where did that info come from?pmac_tk421 wrote...
I was doing some quick calculations(and calibrations) and if I'm right, people who import a level 30 character should be able to max out 4 powers off the bat. I say this since There's 197 points for shep in ME3, and with 60 levels and 21 points for a maxed stat, we should be able to max out 4 and have a few points left over. They may have changed it since though.
Tali never had Overload, she had Energy Drain (which was frankly far better than Overload and gave her additional survivability).Blacklash93 wrote...

Wait wait wait wait. You mean the in-game love of my life, Miranda, is only a temporary squadmate? I AM DISAPPOINT!

Keep in mind that this is all speculation; it's perfectly possible that the old bonus powers are simply given to you from the start, and that squadmates only cover half of the old powers.

Especially because of ammo powers affecting it, I hope concusive shots cooldown is reduced. It was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long in ME2.
From what I remember, you're in luck. Iirc, its equivalent to cryo blast now.
Which is really cool, cause it'll help squaddies that had trouble with CC before (i.e. Garrus).

I also don't understand why people think Nova is going to be some super awesome ability for the Vanguard. Maybe on the lower levels, but it will more than likely be wasted points on Insanity unless it does a hard knockdown to even protected enemies. I also wonder if it's effect is amplified/lessened by the amount of shields you have left. If you can use it with an almost depleted shield and get the same effect as a full shield then it might be good. Otherwise, not really.
Everyone who knows Vanguards knows exactly why it WILL be awesome.
Yes, it blows your shields. But what is the number one strength of a Vanguard? REGENERATING HIS SHIELDS!!!
Charge is awesome for the stagger, for closing the distance, the invulnerability window and the time slow, but where it really becomes a shining jewel is its ability to regenerate the Vanguard's shields.
Your hang-up is probably thinking that the Vanguard would use Nova alone. NO. That's a horrible idea.
Charge into group of enemies-> Shotgun, Melee, Shotgun -> Nova + IMMEDIATELY Charge the next targert in the group. What you have is the ability to stagger/knockdown groups of enemies in conjunction with Charge without relying on Inferno Ammo's panic or having to take Area Charge.

Everyone who knows Vanguards on Insanity knows that you can't just stand in the middle of a firefight because your shields are depleted almost instantly, and you have to be able to Charge again right away. Everyone who knows Vanguards knows that you can't Charge and then instantly Charge again as soon as the time dilation ended. If Nova's strength depends on your own shield strength then it will suck badly on Insanity. Even if it doesn't, it has to do a hard knockdown on protected enemies or it won't be that good. You almost never have more than 3-4 seconds on Insanity to live while being shot by more than a single enemy, and that's with full shields up.
Also, if Nova is not one of the powers that is free from the linked cooldowns, it will be even worse, because you'll be dead before you can Charge again.

I could see it working very well as a defensive tactic on Insanity. If too many enemies flank your squad and get close to you (too many for you to handle), then you could Nova on them and then Charge away to another enemy. Puts them out of commission for a short time and lets you get resituated across the battlefield.

That's assuming it's not part of the GCD. You do realize that even if you're Charging into a group of 2-4, that it's very likely that there might be 1-2 elsewhere out of range shooting at you in the meantime.

And there's a high probability that the Vanguard's passive power provides a bonus when using melee attacks, so you could launch at least three attacks and then make your escape to the next victim.

GCD? Never seen that acronym before.
What I meant was if there is a single enemy staying behind and all the rest are close to you, you could Nova the group before you charge away to the single enemy. Now you have full shields and are in a much more manageable situation, and you also did some nice damage to the group you got away from.
