Just a thought on my mind: does anyone else think that the Engineer's ability to wield any kind of weapon will render the Infiltrator obsolete?
The same principle doesn't apply to the Vanguard because it has Nova and Charge, but Sticky grenades and Cloaking (which leads to long cooldowns btw) doesn't seem to make the Infiltrator seem too unique.

Time dilation when scoping, 2 very versatile ammo powers and a higher carry capacity are all also things that make the Infiltrator unique in comparison to the Engineer.

So you want to take a sniper rifle on an Engineer to have a psuedo-Infiltrator?  You get no slow-down when scoped, a lower damage potential on your snipe without cloak and no secondary effects on the shot.  And to top it all off, the Engineer can take the sniper rifle, but for the same relative encumberance the Infiltrator can have the sniper rifle and a shotgun.

Its not just about the overall powers, you need to examine the nuances.

I'm curious to find out how Nova will effect larger foes , like Cerberus Atlas , larger mechs, will they stagger or will they fall , is it depending on the amount of protection. . . .?

Infiltrator and Engineer are almost nothing alike any more. Engineer is all about battlefield control, kind of the same way an Adept is with Biotics, just with Tech.

Infiltrators are pretty much the ME universe's version of a Backstab class. Hell their passive evolution was even called "Assassin." Whether you go the sniper route or shotty, the primary goal of the class is to set up lethal shots with massive damage buffs.

I know that Shepard will be able to choose from any of the weapon types, but do squadmates have the same benefit, or are they going to be limited to two specific weapons like in ME2?  If it's the former, Tali might actually be almost useful as a squadmate this time around.

We really don't know at this point - some evidence points to "yes" (like some of the recent devs tweets), while others point to "no" (like Ashley's and Garrus's passive evolution ranks).

Have you read about the Infiltrator's unique power, Lockdown?

It's basically Kasumi's Shadow Strike. It only works while you're cloaked and it completely paralyzes the enemy so they can't either move or fire. It can also be evolved to hit two enemies at once or to make the enemy explode if he/she dies because of the attack.

isn't there a sniper upgrade that gives any class the sniper slowdown? Granted, it might not be as effective as a properly spec'd Infiltrator's but still.

anyway a Sniper Engineer won't make an Infiltrator obsolete in the slightest. Similar to how a Shotgun Adept doesn't make a Vanguard obsolete.

This power looks really cool, but I'm betting it was scrapped in favor of sticky grenades for similiar reasons as overpower and amplification being replaced by grenades. It would give a power that isn't tied to the GCD and Lockdown would be tied to cloak, making it fairly limited until later in the game.

edit* although I am looking forward to playing an infiltrator with decoy. It is the perfect distraction to set up attacks.

Good point, dude. I was thinking that too. Decoy def sounds like the perfect bonus power for an Infiltrator.

So based on what we now know of
all the powers and their evolutions, what class(es) is everyone
visualizing as the (potentially) coolest in ME3?

In order:
1. Sentinel
2. Infiltrator
3. Vanguard

Engineer - They look as dull to me as they were in both of the previous games.  Not "weak", just dull to play.

Soldier - TBD.  I really enjoyed them a lot in ME2, but mostly from doing non stop headshots through AR, even more after taking the Widow.  Pretty poweful class, but ultimately one-sided.

Adept - Despite all of the doom and gloom, I'm going to reserve judgement until the game ships.  One of the devs really tried hyping up their power this time around on insanity, saying that they felt that "biotics" generally kept their all around usefulness compared to ME2.  That could just be PR though.

Very true. Unfortunately the Adept seems to be only obsolete class of ME3. All the others are looking great with some cool new tricks up their sleeves. The Adept on the other hand looks like to be the poorman's version of Liara. Incapable of doing anything remarkable or unique.

It looks like my Adept Shepard is going back to Cerberus one last time (before killing the lot). To change her class into something interesting - an Omnitool (Sentinel) or a little combat training (Vanguard) perhaps ;)

I was under the assumption that the powers that were scrapped , were either tided into the passive power of that class or  offered as a bonus power from one of the new squad mates(secret 1&2 squadmates) Posted Image

There is a weapon mod listed in the leaks as a "Sniper Rifle Concentration Module"  which increases damage and creates a time dilation effect when zooming in.

I know one thing for sure - that's the most awesome name for power EVER.

Hey folks, here's a very important but only semi-related question that I do not feel warranted creation of its own topic, and thus will ask here in my fav. thread.

Does anyone know how many hotkeys us console players'll get for Shepard's powers this time around? I'm really hoping for 4 instead of 3.

You know, whenever I would watch the Kinect demonstrations with this game, all I could think about was how much faster hitting keys on a keyboard were compared to that.

For the xbox folks it helps avoid the power wheel which is kind of cool.  Other than that I am not impressed with it because yes it is slower than hitting a key.

Especially obvious with "singularity". I'd like to see some Engineer with super fast tech powers recharge spamming Neural Shock this way :-P

Does anyone else at all think the delay adds a little to immersion? I mean sure, I get that its a video game, and the kinect will likely be useless on higher difficulties, but I think its kinda cool that Shep(well, the player) actually has to say the command, the team mate hear it and react, as on a real battlefield. I plan to do at least one play through where I'm just calling out powers the whole time.

On topic question: I've never pulled off a 'warp bomb' myself, and I wondered if it works to detonate warp on a stasis field? If so, what are the odds these work together in ME3?

Wait I thought you could just yell what powers you wanted your squadmates to use with Kinect, which IMO is already pretty nifty. But are you saying you can just shout out your own powers to use them too? Cuz if so I'm buying a Kinect.

Although what happens if you and/or your squadmates share powers? I'm not yelling "Shepard: Combat Drone!" if that's the case lol.

Yes, you can use the Kinect for your own powers. For yours you don't need to say the name, for your team mates, you specify the person.

ME3: only short - named squadmates allowed! :)

The longest yell I thought of so far would be "Kasumi: Flashbang Grenade!"

Damn that's pretty cool. I'm down with the immersion. I remember shouting obscenities at the gang members I was stalking in Manhunt back on Xbox to get their attention before brutally murdering them, and THAT **** was fun.

Still, though, anyone know how many hotkeys we'll get for our powers on the 360? Kinect aside.
