I need a Nightmare Build for Carver without  utilizing the Templar specializtion. Any suggestions? I was thinking Vanguard/Battlemaster.

Dunno, why you wouldn't invest in Templar tree, since it's probably better than every other tree that he has access to.

But, if you insist on having a gimped Carver, something like this could work reasonably well, I guess.

You can invest some points into Bravery or Battle Synergy, if you like (your choice). You can also upgrade Mighty Blow for some BRITTLE CCC action, but be aware that he can wipe out your party, if you are not careful.
Sunder in 2H tree is currently bugged, so I would recommend leaving it alone, until they fix it.

My question is, my does carver still use the templar tree when hes a grey warden?! Shouldnt he have some special darkspawn fighting abilities or at least some passive abilities that represent his incresed prowess from the warden training?

Exactly! That's why I wish I could mod for Xbox. I'd make him a Beserker. Seems the most fitting if he's a Warden.

Personally, I justify it as Alistair teaching him, since Alistair is with him in act 2. Of course, that only works if Alistair stayed in the wardens ...

I wish there was a different specialisation. Beth's Force Mage makes sense for either wardens or circle.

Yea, it wouldnt even take that much time or effort! Im not 100% sure as i havnt finished my current playthrough with a grey warden carver but he isnt in act 2 at all and if its like with the templars, hes only in act 3 for a little while so it wouldnt even matter too much if his skill tree isnt completly balanced! All I want is for it to make sense, not just b convenient!

I think the Templar spec is the most fitting one for Carver, since he was named after a templar. If he is a Gray Warden, someone like Alistair or some other ex-templar Gray Warden could have teached him the templar stuff. If he was a Berserker, then some dwarf would probably have to teach him the art of berserking. And, if he was a Reaver, he would have to drink ritually prepared dragon's blood.
I really don't see a problem with this from a RP-ing perspective. Out of all 3 specs, the Templar one is still the most fitting for Carver, Gray Warden or not.
From a gameplay perspective, he would be much more usefull as a Berserker or a Reaver.

One issue I don't like in the tree is "lyrium in the blood", that could have been replaced by some "darkspawn blood magic" :-)
