Is there a snow texture for the terrain included with the base game (no expansions)? I cant find one, and was wondering if it was hidden somehow, or not under texturing. If not, are there any custom snow textures I could somehow import?

No. You need the expansions. There are no snow textures by default.
You could use this

But that would be rather silly when you can get both expansions for less than $20, and regularly less than $10.

bought the gold edition, just hadent downloaded MotB yet, quick question though, any idea why when i change the colors, it has no effect on the terrain texture's colors?

Change what colors? You can paint colors on the terrain in the same tab you use for raising/lowering terrain.
