They are just trying to get some of the GOW and COD crowd. Which is understandable , since money >>>>> everything else eh.

Diablo has daggers in it.

I am suspecting that they are trying to make the game mainstream and sell it to them.

You thought that we couldn't see through your omni-dagger scheme, eh, BioWare?

I know this has probably been said to death but I find it funny when a forum user thinks they know what the majority of fans of a game think =P

And yes Bioware is trying to boast of ME 3's action...as long as the melee take downs are as good are as good feeling as the ones in Deus Ex Human Revolution I'll be okay with it

Does Blizzard advertise daggers so heavily as the omniblade in ME?

If you are going to refer to every single heavy melee attack in ME3 as an "omni-blade", then you may as well refer to every single conventional melee weapon in Diablo as a "dagger". So yes, definitely. In fact, more.

The "omni-blade" is hardly advertised. Overall, we have seen more footage of weapon customization, stat. progression, the mobility and the new cover system, but they are more subtle.

Try to find videos with the omni-blade in them and see how few times it is being used, when it is a brand new feature. BioWare should in fact have made a video exclusively concerning the heavy melee attacks or the extra mobility options since they are new features.

They just make BSNers who think that they represent the majority in every single subject they discuss cry because they don't want anything awesome to happen when they push a button. They would much rather have a broken CQC system than a (zomg)...awesome scene.

And what do we see? Oh yes, the hardly advertised omniblade.

Edit:

On the cover of the packaging.

On the main site, half the screen is taken by...shepard with omniblade.

On almost every video released today is the omniblade.

Almost every interview mentions the omniblade.

Yes, hardly advertised indeed.

Have you ever tried sticking out your eyes? I hear it gives remarkable results. You don't have to see anything ever again.

I have to disagree.

We see the omni blade a lot. We see it in trailers, combat videos, pictures, wallpapers. Plus that the're being sold and handed out to people in real life.

If someone mentions the "COD and GOW crowd", there's usually no point in listening to what they have to say...:bandit:

It's called marketing, geniuses. Better marketing means more money. At least in my world, most companies want money, though i don't know how it rolls in your world.

Yes, how is it not hardly advertised?

The new N7 armour has made more apperances because it is a signature feature. What's your point? As a gameplay feature, we have no idea how the omni-blade even works against armored characters.

On almost every video released today is the omniblade.

And they rarely use it, in comparison to staying in cover or simply blasting their way through, even though those are not new features.

Almost every interview mentions the omniblade.

BS.

Every interview mentions Tali's face and the RPG Elements, that have been explained thoroughly already for the most part, not the omni-blade.

In comparison to what combat gameplay element?

We have no idea what the heavy melee attack is for two classes, and how it even works, other than the fact that it is hinted that it is only doable when you press the melee button for a prolonged period of time.

We are unsure as to the damage it deals, to what kind of enemies it can deal it, etc.

And seeing as how it is supposed to carry all of ME3's CQC on it's own back, we know too little.

The omni-blade is their new thing, I'd actually be worried if they didn't mention it at every opportunity they could. What they are doing shows that they care about it and feel like people will like it.

I like the idea, I was sad from the start there were no melee weapons.

They were handing out giant inflatable Omni-Blades to everybody at the conventions and did pan shots of the crowd waving them at the camera. I don't call that "hardly advertised" :P

And this has been already brought to the table. They are signature features of the game, the only ones that could be used in merchandize other than the N7 t-shirts that they still keep handing out and we still don't even know how the hell they work:

I can't think of any other combat feature other than the new powers which we don't know exactly how they work.

I find omniblade to be really silly. Especially all those akshun poses with it...ridiculous. I just cant take it seriously.

But in general, I am not fan of "cool stuff".

Seriously guys! Do you have to plaster that stupid thing everywhere and shove it down our throats all the time. Especially when half the fans things it's friggin' stupid in the first place. The way you've been beating it I'm surprised it hasn't spurted forth some link of omni-goo from the tip.

Seriously... give it a rest. It wasn't that cool from the start, and it's just becoming more and more tragically uncool the more it gets waved around. It just smells of trying too hard to be "badass and awesumz!!1" to the point where it's just not. At all.

I'd have considered getting the new Femshep T-shirt if it didn't have her with that retarded thing on it. <_<

It's like the chainsaw attachment on the Gears of War. Or the nano-x in Crysis. Shove the gimmick EVERYWHERE.

Anyone notice how EA's logo is always gimicky itself?

If by awesome button you mean the over the top animations, opinions vary. I have yet to play the full version, but the demo's combat so far is much more fluid than DA:Os. There are of course other problems, but that's not the issue.

I suppose that there was supposed to be some sort of argument explaining how awesome things ("cool things") are bad, but I guess I'll have to be happy with the mildly inflammatory trolling.

The omniblade and how it's being marketed is a bit much. But that's marketing for you. Dragon Age Origins had horrible marketing, as did ME2, DA2 and now ME3. Just ignore it.

I think it's fairly telling of the temperament of some of the people here that, while this topic has eleven pages, a topic that actually shows the improved RPG elements of ME3 can barely get three pages.

People like Gatt and TK claim to care about that sort of thing - they don't. They care about *****ing. Really - did the world need another topic about the Omni-blade? Couldn't he have just bumped one of the many that already exist (probably a few of which he made himself) No - he had to make a new topic about an old thing, just to stir the pot again. It's pathetic.

I didnt wrote that. I just wrote that I dont like these things. And that I find those poses with omniblade to be really silly.

And DA 2 combat indeed is much more fluid now, but that could be achieved without final fantasy animations.
