They are harping on about it a lot. Really if that blade is the best new thing Mass Effect 3 has to offer then we should all be worried. Very worried.

THIS RIGHT HERE

they could show off the weapon customization and its effects.....the newly revealed Armor customization for squaddies....the power trees and their effects. But nope MORE AWESOME BUT......I mean MORE OMNIBLADE!

I'd love that, too.

THEY. DID.

They did? They showed how modifications directly affect combat through gameplay examples? I missed it. Is there a link where I can check it out? It'd be neat to see.

The demo that showed a lot of that stuff had it being put to use right after the upgrades were made. Did they explcitly state what each upgrade did? No. Can you read the damn things and figure it out for yourself? Yes. It's not that difficult.

Where is christina norman and her awesome reveal Vidocs??? oh wait..she got married and left....DAMMIT

In all likelihood, there will be reveal videos - but just like with the previous games, they'll come close to release, probably within two or so months. The game is still a fair bit off.

Omni-blade is a gimick, hardly surprising its marketed to hell and back.

The idea of a better attack is ok but warping the entire game to accomodate it is disappointing.

Yeah... lets bring a blade to a gun fight...

I will not be amused if range play suffers inorder to make the blade. Especially for classes like Infiltrators.

Believe me, all I used to play was Gears of War, Halo and Call of Duty. I hated "smart" games. I just wanted to shoot stuff. I would've never even tried ME2 if it hadn't been for the shooting trailers I saw. It reminded me a bit of Gears so I tried it and look at me now.. I'm about to start my 31st playthrough. I would've NEVER tried ME2 had I seen all the RPG elements.. I hated games like that, I just wanted to play and my 1st playthrough it did ****** me off and it was confusing but after a short while I got used to it and now I love it.

Long story short: it's just marketing, and BioWares tactic is working.

I actually kind of agree with...Terror K?

Wow.

Anyway, yeah, it does sort of feel like we're being beat over the head with it because it's flashy and cool. I'd rather know more how it works if they want to keep talking about it...otherwise, just showing us the weirdo attacks each class has an letting us speculate as to why the heck the Soldier has a normal Omni Blade and the Engineer, the omni-tool centric class, has...something else.

I see Infiltrator's having a lot of use for it, thanks to the camoflauge - go invisible, walk up to an enemy, free kill. Infiltrators can rock close range when they want.

Same here, but instead of ME2 it was DA:O, I mean look at that marketing campaign and you'll laugh your ass off once you see how different it is ingame.

Seriously though, it's not just the omni blade. I stopped counting how many times they were talking about how you can shoot the pilot of the mech and run around in it. But it's marketing. This is what we have now, last year it was the overuse of the phrases -"emotionally engaging" and "dark second act". We'll live.

Yes, and there isn't a whole lot of people who will live and breathe and consume anything and everything related to a game series for years.

Hence the repetition, to get the message out to people who haven't yet heard it. Taking it personally (how DARE they show us the same stuff all the time!!) is just absurd.

... oh but yeah, show me the Vanguard please. ;)

OP = I'm kind of on the fence about the OB at this point, it's nice BW gave us something other than the "elbow of death" but if not the OB what else would you suggest in place and how would you market that in place?

I find the constant advertising for it annoying, but that's all. I'd rather they focus on femshep now instead of the omni-blade. That said it's not that bad and who knows how it will be when the game comes out. *shrugs*

Or... I can like cloak, line up a shot and blow their head off at long range. CQC is more in line with Vanguards, not Infiltrators.
This is supposed to be Mass Effect, not Alpha Protocol.

Yeah but don't forget BioWare are planning on making some silent and stealthy take downs sort of like DE, but don't take my word on it, I'm not entirely sure myself.

Even in Mass Effect 2, giving the Infiltrator a shotgun and mixing in some CQC tactics was a viable strategy. The idea is nothing new.

You can do the same thing at close range.

Especially when weapons aren't restricted to classes anymore. I'm going to use shotguns more than sniper rifles in ME3 as Infiltrator, that's for sure.
