Pay attention instead of whining about something so trivial.

Terror, your opinion is not 50% of fans. We are also not forcing it down anyone's throat.

If you don't like it, don't use it. If you don't like hearing about it, come back in a week or a month or March and see if there is something else you prefer to discuss.

they could show off the weapon customization and its effects.....the newly revealed Armor customization for squaddies....the power trees and their effects. But nope MORE AWESOME BUT......I mean MORE OMNIBLADE!

I'd love that, too.

THEY. DID.

They did? They showed how modifications directly affect combat through gameplay examples? I missed it. Is there a link where I can check it out? It'd be neat to see.

http://social.biowar...index/8213000/1

The demo that showed a lot of that stuff had it being put to use right after the upgrades were made. Did they explcitly state what each upgrade did? No. Can you read the damn things and figure it out for yourself? Yes. It's not that difficult.

Sincerely, thank you. I haven't seen this yet.

Missed the point, idiot

Warping gameplay so this gimick works at the expense of the rest of the game is a classic case of developer stupidity.

Yay... lets make an Omni-toy for folks to go and stab people but screw ranged play to make it work. That totally makes sense in a gun game.

"Oh but... but it allows you to make Stealth Kills on Stealth Missions"
So would a silenced gun, they can build mini-nuke launchers, energy weapons and Thanix cannons but lost the ability to make silent guns ?

...still don't see how a melee weapon effects the way you play the game...

If you don't like it, don't use it and instead continue using your ranged weapons for your gun game. Some people on the other hand, like myself, have been asking for the inclusion of a little more melee combat than that pathetic rifle slap from ME2 that I guess you were fine with...

I mean what, in the future did they also forget how to train special ops soldiers in hand-to-hand/melee combat?

Mass Effect always had some close-combat elements - shotguns, melee attacks. They made it so the melee is actually worth a damn, but there's nothing to suggest that long-range still isn't a suitable tactic because of it.

I am not opposed to melee combat being improved. But the....Omni-blade? It is imo corny and discredits the omni-tool.

Is it going to be an omni-tool modification? If so, can we have our PC not even possess this mod upgrade but sell it instead?

I really think they should have just added a normal blade- it would have made a lot more sense, and would look a lot less... garish.

I think the Omni-Blade is an interesting concept... As long as it doesn't become a Lightsaber clone. Melee combat would be a nice touch, but should be limited and not a field one should specialize in game. The Mass Effect series has been Guns and Biotics, keep the formula!

People wouldn't nag about it for three months, that's for sure.

I personally have nothing against the omni-blade. I'm just a little uncertain about some heavy melee attacks some classes are using. Like the Sentiel. It looks stupid when Shepard does that thing with the dual blades.

You know what Chris, I can really dig the stab blade or whatever it's called....it IS awesome no doubts there. But you know what would be a million times better than this pure awesomeness? Lightsabers!!!! Why not take BioWare to it's roots where its fame really took off....Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic? Maybe even throw Revan in there.....I know you can make it work somehow, BioWare has no limits

The BSN isn't even 10% of the ME fanbase.

As of this posting, the votes for the Omni-blade being stupid is...5 votes.  That seems somewhat short of an overwhelming mandate to the developers.

Very simple and effective advice... OP is blowing a gasket and overreacting. I for one will likely never use the omni blade as it doesn't seem to match the personality and fighting style of my Shepard... much as how in ME2 the only times I ever used the melee attack was in Shadow Broker (where you're forced to to move the mission forward) and once or twice on accident when I pressed the key, undoubtedly just whiffing at empty air though I might have smacked a varren with it too, I can't recall... suffice it to say, the number of times I've meleed in ME2 in hundreds of hours of gameplay time spent can be counted on 2 hands.

I don't like melee, won't use it... very simple. People who like their stabby blade can enjoy it, good for them.. I for one don't give a hoot about it and will never see it used.

True but the few hundred are probably the biggest fans.. and the biggest fans seem to disagree with you and actualy like the Omni-Blade. Also, according to the poll so far, the majority of players don't mind the Omni-Blade. You can't use "Oh well its only 1%" as an excuse because I like the Omni-Blade and I can tell you, we Omni-Blade likers don't have secret underground meetings and decide we're all gonna come on BSN. You can't prove that out of the other 99%, the majority dislikes it. And I can't prove otherwise either but I do think its a safe bet to say that if the majority of people on here don't mind it.. the majority of the other 99% will have the same opinion.

Honestly, I like the Omniblade. Still, the Adept's Palmstrike of Death tops it. Fear the palm.

You know what? If your Shep is an Adept, there really needs to be a Renegade Interrupt where you shake some unsuspecting dupe's hand, only to instantly drop him via his coming into contact with Shep's mighty palm.
