Seeing Shepard dual wield doesn't instill me with a sense of: "Trained, highly elite skilled soldier," but more of: "Crack dealer defending his turf".

Obviously if Shepard was trained he would tilt the gun sideways. Everybody knows thats a kill shot right there.

Tell that to this "trained" police officer

Shepard has an unlikely perfect aim, so yes, he could double wield effectively.

And guess what? The latter is absolutely TRUE. I hear more people ****ing about crap like how the bumper on that car in GTA IV is only using a measely [enter pixel count] than the rest of the car uses [enter very slightly higher pixel count]. "They should be using the higher amount NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!1111". Yeah, f**k how emotionally engaging this scene or that scene should be or how flat the voice-actor was (while offering constructive criticism). We gotz 2 hav up 2 date gwafiks!!!
The same mind frame that runs behind those who refuse to play Final Fantasy VII (7) or VIII (8) because "the graphics suck". The story is great, their rebuttal to it is "Yeah, but the graphics are terrible". Yeah, you wouldn't be saying that 10+ years ago. It is even sadder when those people did play and love it the story and graphics when it was released, but reject it 10+ years later because Elder Scrolls has superior graphics.

I just hope it doesn't wind up popping up in cutscenes beyond my control. I'm seriously getting major, major Murder Knife vibes from this thing.

In real life - no, people don't dual wield very often. In a gunfight, you typically want accuracy above all else. It's much better to hold one gun with two hands than two guns with two hand.
Although i think dual pistols look cool as hell... i don't think it fits in ME for gameplay reasons.
ME is a game in which you lean out of cover, pop a shot and falls back into it, dual pistols is more for run n' gun.

Just keep this in mind, Terror. The stigma is that most gamers are immature, stupid little kids (or teenagers at the oldest) and think at we are absolutely obsessed with trinkets and the trivial things about the game. The latter is why they market things like the omni-blade, the Atlas mech, and better graphics so heavily above the story or things that actually can make or break a game to us intelligent folk.

Depends on the person's preference. I myself would cover-shoot-cover if it was implemented. The bonus is the increased firepower.

Just because one guy in a meme picture is doing it doesn't make it any less of a bad idea.

Fictional pic (tv / movie?) or inept officer... does not practice trigger discipline, is about to accidentally discharge a bullet into the leg / backside of his fellow officer infront of him or possibly into his own foot.
The big gentleman behind him however is using proper trigger discipline.
All that said and done, I spent 6 years working with Canadian law enforcement (not as a police officer, but worked with them on a daily basis). The very notion of dual wielding a weapon would get you laughed at and beratted.

I concede the dual wielding is cool. At the risk of sounding elitist, though - it just ain't Mass Effect. I can't explain it.

I demand Parkour in ME 3.
You can roll over cover and there is seamless transition between cover (exactly the same way Wanted Weapons of Fate did it too). So not original. Except for the roll. But Saints Row The Third also has rolls and rolling over cover. Not jumping or leaping it. Literally rolling over it.

What does one picture prove? Just like a Desert Eagle, it is an illogical loadout. Desert Eagles have no tactical efficieny and are widely regarded as a show gun, yet you see some people in the force using them. The fact of the matter is that it wouldn't logical to dual wield pistols in a military situation.Hathur wrote...

It is doable, but it would have to be balanced with either (or both), a lot slower to get in and out of position, targeting reticle goes absolutely wild if you keep firing.

Not just Rolling, I want to slide and wall-hop, just like Brink.
