Still doesn't explain why you hate Anderson.

The diehard Cerbies supposedly see Anderson as a traitor to humanity, mainly because of his actions against Cerberus in Retribution.

True, but I've preferred Udina over him before I even heard of what happened in Retribution.

Though Udina nearly doomed the whole galaxy in ME 1 and it was Anderson that overrode Udina's idiotic lockdown order.

I chuckled. First at the picture, and then at the thought of Udina crushing all opposition in ME3.

I really do hope Udina survives at least most of ME 3, I can't stand him but he cracks me up.

Safer? Really? The same Udina who nearly doomed the galaxy to Reaper invasion by putting the Normandy on lockdown?

Udina has done an admirable job of furthering the Alliance's interests. Anderson says so in ME2 if you saved the council and chose Udina as Councillor. Miranda also says he has done a lot for humanity.

The same Miranda that thought it was a good idea to bring the ENTIRE squad in a little shuttle for one mission to god knows where...

I just had to poke fun at Miranda, not disagreeeing that in the long run Udina would probably do more...

^ This.  Not that the Udinites want anyone to remember what a political hack and complete tool Udina is.

I honestly can't tell the levels of seriousness in this thread anymore... How mad am I supposed to be right now? But to be on the current topic, I can't stand Udina myself. He's the standard politician, looking after himself first and after that he doesn't care. For example locking you down because you're making humanity look bad, even after all you've done. He doesn't have to believe you, but you've done too much for him to reasonably lock you down. Of course, all that's just my opinion.

Never mind that the Reapers would have taken the Citadel if Udina had had his way.

"It's just politics Commander." He was likely under pressure from the council and other Alliance politicians to make this decision.

Udina is the right man for the job. It's no surprise that his detractors happen to be those who favor the old alien racial caste system and it's space gestapo force.

I doubt dictatorship under one race or group of galactic bullies would be that much better. At least the old council managed to keep peace for over 1000 years.

Under brutal dictatorship only thing you will get is defeated nations and species screaming for your blood. And they will get it. Sooner or later every galactic empire gets its rebel alliance. This is exactly why Churchill said democracy is the worst form of goverment except for all the others.

I don't support Udina, and I don't support the current state of affairs either. I chose Anderson hoping he would promote more equality rather than acting in the interests of any one species alone. He opposed Sarens lack of control as well, I'd say he's hardly a fan of the amount of power spectres have.

But honestly, what level of seriousness am I supposed to be reading these at?

But a human councillor should be looking out for humanity alone. It's the reason why humans want to be on the council- that way we can push our own interests far more effectively.

That's a very broad and unfounded assumption to make about people's motives.

The sad thing is, in the current culture of discourse in the US, I can't tell if you're trolling or being serious.

Sad.

Again, reflective of the sad state of American politics that people assume it's natural and right for a respresentative to care only about his direct constituency's short-term interests.

Not sure if serious? Not everyone on this forum is from the United States. As a human representitive, the human councillor needs to push human interests, it's up to the Asari, Turians and Salarians to push their own interests (which they very eagerly do). And pushing human interests doesn't necessarily have to be at the expense of the other races, many things that are in humanity's interests are beneficial for the other races.

Yep and the whole point of getting Shepard to become a spectre in the first place(which Udina was advocating for) was to advance human interests.

Some seem to forget that....

That is in fact very true...I'm quite sure it's stated as such in ME1 isn't it?....I do in fact understand Udina locking down the Normandy also, etc... Regardless of the fact that Shep is right about the Reapers, lets face it, s/he does sound like a madman on the verge of insanity...just put yourself in Udina's and the Councils shoes for a moment and look at the story from their perspectives....Doesn't stop me from wanting to see Udina and the big three burn though.....
