When the message doesn't wish to be heard people attack the messenger.

Hardly. Not according to any ancient civilization, not even the Spartans.

Human nature just makes us like to kick arrogant people to bottomless pits, that's all.

Not always true.

It happens often enough in modern day that  if  certain indiviuals are trying to shine there unwantted side on a controversial subject, the majority will attack him instead of the message he/she is trying to deliver.

I like and appreciate his criticisms. I'm personally hoping that BioWare saw and took his criticisms that way we benefit as gamers. I like his comments and don't think his views are completely impossible or pointless.

The guy should put his energy into something more constructive or take up a hobby - what an utter waste of time, ****ing about a computer game for two years. No matter the dissapointment, there comes a point where you have to let go and move on.

Ok, I find it ironic for you (us) to say that.

How many people make you tube video and posts because of something? What are you posting here? People do things if they are passionate enough - because they're blind fanbosy, blind haters, something in between or just because they want to be heard....or simply because they WANT to do it. Shocking, I know.
I have toyed with the idea to make youtube videos myself, but haven't gotten around to  it yet.

But that aside, smudboys videos are in general better than squees. His argumetns are better, and it seems squee messes hte point completley a few times.

Ok, I just have one complaint. I know some people agree with me and some do not. That's great. Makes the world a more interesting place. I don't mind if you disagree with my points. Hell, I'll admit you might find more organization in a bachelors. I think people are too hard on him for making the vids. The only difference, in that respect, between him and everyone here is that he puts more effort into it. (I should say in my defense ,for all those people who say I obsess about this kind of stuff that I have over 2000 videos on YouTube and less than 1% of them are argument videos for mass effect)

My complaint is why people keep saying I personally attacked him. I attacked his arguments and his presentation of them. I NEVER attacked his intelligence, character, or personal status. Everyone who has ever debated me here, may not like me, but they know I have never attacked someone on a personal level.

People need to learn the difference between attacking arguments/presentation methods, and attacking the person. Unless you think that every professor who ever wrote a paper to refute another professor was making a personal attack against them....

Is there anyone else who makes videos analyzing Mass Effect, and Mass Effect 2? Or is Smudboy more of brought up a lot because he's the one who's the most advertized?

Kinda sad really that the people jumping at smudboy's throat "he needs to die" also have zero arguments against any of his points. Bioware boards really do have some weird people on them.

I just wanted to add that you actually complimented his intelligence. ^_^ And smudboy isnt a bad person. I dont agree with his arguments, but if that's all the reason I need to hate someone I would end up as a very lonely person. :?

Don't take this the wrong way, but what arguments don't you agree with?

Interesting. I actually agree with him on a lot of points but at the end of the day, it's a game that I love to play. If I want infallible plot, excellent writing, etc., I'll go and read some Philip K. Dick.

Having said that, it's all too easy to sit in your chair and criticize other people's work. It's an incredibly well-made game, not War & Peace.

Some of the nitpicking like the fact that we could hear the normandy exploding, even if it's a game and we should take the science with a grain of salt. I can't really go into too much detail since it's been months since I watched his videos, and I don't feel like watching them as of now.

At least Squee's videos are funny. All I saw from Smudboy's arguments came from Squee, and hell I hate Smud's voice.

Just because some of it is nitpicking doesn't mean it's wrong. You don't agree with the fact in space...there is no sound?

As I pointed out, I barely remember his arguments and it is my opinion (read; not fact.) that he is too nitpicky, which is fine - don't get me wrong but not something I'd enjoy. If you agree with him that's fine, and your opinion is just as valid as mine.

Someone should link this thread to Smud. I'm pretty sure he'll get a kick out of it.

Yeah, but you can't dismiss his points because there's some nitpicky parts in it. At least that's how i view it.

Nitpicking won't make your argument wrong, however it can make your arguments seem petty and exhausting. The best approach for Smud's analysis would have been to stick with the larger issues (Shepard's Resurrection, the Shuttle to Nowhere). His plot analysis was enjoyable, but there were points where I found myself thinking "Just get on with it!".

And you're entitled to your opinion. ^_^ Also, I never said I dismissed anything. Smudboy obviously put a lot of effort into his videos, and dismissing them because I don't agree with them would be rude. As Squee said, Smudboy is a very intelligent guy and he makes some valid points. I agree with some of his points, and I agree with some of Squees points - there's nothing else to it.

What's the big deal about this guy? There's plenty of people with valid as well as invalid arguments about the game and so are he and the other guy. I fail to see the point of this thread. Discussing if someone's right or wrong about subjective stuff is an exercise in futility. To quote Clint Eastwood: "Opinions are like ****s. Everybody has one."

Yes everyone is entitled to his or her opinion.:kissing: But could you give one example were squee was right and smudboy wrong? Or at least give on example were you agree with squee.
