Cults and religion are the same thing. The latter is just a name assumed because it has less negative connotations.

It looks like the thread hit rock bottom but anyway.

If a Christian bashed your beliefs on the past, does that make it OK for you to bash theirs?

If a Christian blindly believes in a deity, does that make it OK for you to blindly believe in the lack thereof?

If you think that organized religion is bad because it has priests that carry over the ideals of a religion, what about The Amazing Atheist and people like him?

Yes, because yours are unjustified and unreasonable. And Athiesm is not a "sort of belief", it is just plain old human reasoning - just with the lack of superstitious wish-thinking. Why do think cultists think their unjustified beliefs are free from scorn, unlike others? You better get used to it.

P.S. WTF is the "Amazing Atheist"?

Cults are different someone self proclaims themselves a god, the child of one, or are the only way to salvation only because they say so then forces through a variety of negative measures, isolation, sleep deprivation, and brainwashing, ect to make their members believe whatever it is they say is true. The cult leader also has no power beyond persuasion and the ability to make their members fall in line. Members wishing to defect are more often blackmailed, mentally abused, threatened, or killed to prevent them from leaving.

Religion while they all believe in a god that is not seen but is everywhere, their gods all have written and established acts, there is no isolation, sleep deprivation, brainwashing, coercion, ect everyone is there of their own free will and if someone wishes to leave the religion they can and no one will stop them or use blackmail, threats, or force inorder to keep them.

technically, not believing in something still counts as a belief..........technically...

but w/e please stop...it is not OK to bash other people unless they are being ****s about it......please don't pull a Balak and get butthurt because some other human messed with you...

while I happen to agree that like......99% of religion is utter turd, I don't go around saying so...

please, don't contribute to the image that atheists have among the theistic populace where we're all intolerant ****s...

also I think the Amazing Atheist is something on YouTube I stumbled upon once or twice....although having a YouTube channel devoted to atheism and having a whole religious hierarchy isn't the same thing......

I think it would be interesting in ME3, if your Shepard would be allowed to pray.

I don't. My shep's an atheist, and thinks god to be a self righteous, perverse, blood-loving little ******. Oh...and he's not real. ;)

that's why it's optional...

I agree that it shouldn't be there but for different reasons (even though like...80% of my Sheps are atheist). I just can't see it being implemented without pissing SOMEONE off...

let's say you hit the thing so Shepard prays, but he ends up doing a Muslim prayer......cue 70% of America going into a blood rage.....or if he ends up doing some Australian Aboriginal pagan prayer......cue 90% of theists going wtf

I just can't see it being implemented well...even the "hang head solemnly" is only one form of prayer and doesn't cover all forms....I think the topic was handled well when Ash brought it up...hell, even Ash didn't outright say which god she believes in (although judging from her belief in heaven, I'll venture to think that she's part of one of the Abrahamic religions)...

I just don't think it should be in ME3 because it'll ****** off more people than it would please......

Maybe in the modern times, but a few hundred years ago, not so much. Then again, it was mostly mass murder and torture.

If anything , my shep will be bleeding goats onto a pyre, and poking needles into effigies of her enemy. She might even sacrifice small children. Cause her god calls for it.

We don't want to upset god. :?

I'm an Atheist. An I don't really care type of Atheist to be specific. If people want to pray, let them pray. I've got stuff I need to do. Just don't interrupt what I'm doing with it. Don't force it on me. I won't force Atheism on you. Live and let live, if you know what I'm saying.

So if you want your Shep to pray? How do you want your Shep to pray? Christian? Muslim? Hindu? Buddhist? Jewish? Whatever. You'd have to program all of those in there, because not everyone who plays this game is Christian. It's easier to leave it out because it doesn't add to the story. You can imagine that part of your character and make your character's behavior congruent with your belief.

It's a good idea if it's optional, I mean we can already say in ME1 if Shepard is religious or not. Alhough praying would be harder to do, due to different religions. In ME1 all Shepard says is ''You know that saying you will never find a atheist in a fox hole?' I've been in alot of fox holes'' so it doesn't really point to what religion Shepard follows.

Yes, there are no atheists in foxholes.

Each and every atheist are exposed by warfare as hypocritical cowards and will therefore kneel in the dirt beg salvation to the Flying Spaghetti Monster so that he may blesseth them with his Noodle of Righteous Eternity.

Prayer would be cool but I would like to see it after the killing of a major person in the game. Something like a Thane prayer.

Otherwise, I don't see the point. I'm a Christian and I do pray, but unless it's for some reason in game...it's a waste.

You should be allowed to suicide bomb the batarians. Maybe allow sheperd for a more open sexuality, i'm thinking Zoophilia, or Paraphilia, us child loving people need to have something that represents us, bioware is already making children for the game, there is no excuse for not adding something for us too.

Sincerely, a person that touches children.

Only a dellusional idiot would wait in a fox hole. Those with brains are on the field, fighting.

Edit: can we also molest children? That's another grand religious tradition I'd like to see in the game.

The word cult pejoratively refers to a group whose beliefs or practices are considered abnormal or bizarre. The word originally denoted a system of ritual practices. The narrower, derogatory sense of the word is a product of the 20th century, especially since the 1980s, and is considered subjective

Nice try but the only difference between a Cult and Religion is the latter has managed to become socially acceptable.
