That is why I said they have to be careful with it. Personaly I think it is better if they left it alone as far as Shepard goes but if Ashley prays I don't see anything wrong with it. It's not like she is going to go the citadel and start bible thumping.

Just going through the last sixteen hours or so (three pages. wow) and found this incredibly hilarious. Nothing to do with you, Ghost Warrior, but look at that name...in fact, looking at the names of some Mass Effect literature, a bit of it sounds vagely spiritual/related to spiritual ideas: Revelation, Ascension, Redemption, Inquisition, and Evolution...interesting.

I don't know if you know what scapegoat means. It basically means someone or something that gets blamed but is not responsible. What you're saying here, probably without realizing it, is that religion isn't the reason for violence.

And on the idea of creating a religion, bad idea, A) it's the third part of a trilogy, and will seem incredibly shoehorned in and more importantly
Mass Effect is science FICTION, not fantasy. One religion is okay for Dragon Age, because it is a fantasy game set in an alternate universe. Mass Effect is a fiction game set in the future.
And for your last two sentences, that's what we've been discussing.

I'm a Christian myself, and I find same sex romance offensive. Which means I will choose not to pursue it. I would be happy if praying to some deity made it into the game.
That said, going along with the rest of the discussion, I don't believe that any current religion should be in just because of the massive amount of disconnect that could be caused by, say, and atheist playing, choosing to pray, and, wait, that's not me. I don't believe in God... That kind of thing.
Maybe we should pray to the Enkindlers...

Lots of good discussion around here. My two cents: I believe it would be a harmless addition so long as it remained an option. After all, you CAN play a believer Shepard and the opposite, since you are given the chance to explicitly state your input on the matter to Ashley in ME1.

You really need to grow up, pal. If someone saying they find somthing offensive counts as "bigotry and intolerance" to you, I suggest you get out and see the world. Twisty did not say it shouldn't be in the game. Twisty did not say they thought all **********s need to die a painful death. Twisty said that they (I'd really like to use he/she here, they feels weird) found it offensive, not unlike how several atheists in this thread found religion offensive.

Psst, it's not okay for people to hate someone because of how they were born because their imaginary sky friend tells them to. I don't begrudge anyone what they are. I judge people on their actions...and his are appalling. I don't hate Christians. I don't even hate him. It's hardly the same.

Religion is indoctrination of the most insidious kind and has no place in the future. The Reapers actually find religion offensive as I recall from Sovy's view on the Geth woshipping it but Sovy used it.
As it stands, I find the Reapers the most effective demonstration of why Religion should be discouraged. The Heretics were used by their own deity to commit awful acts and in the end considered them worthless.
Why does any human think 'God' is any different than a Reaper ?
Would be more funny for BW to make some Religions actually a Reaper implanted mechanism by Sovy to be used as a means of controlling the population.
Big Bad Reaper tells folks to kill people - that would totally be wrong
Holy Diety promising ascension if they kill people - Lets pray to him for salvation
I find it out of character for any Shepard to pray to a deity after learning about the Reapers, being resurrected or the arrogance it takes for someone to believe an almighty Diety will somehow listen to your prayer over those made by anyone else.
