My philosophy has always been: believe what you want, and all the power to you, but don't cram it down my throat, and I'll do the same. :D

Religion is already in ME, so honestly I don't see the big deal of Shep praying. Nobody seemed to care when Thane & Mordin prayed...

I say let Shepard hold a Shabbos dinner. And then have a Rabbi there. A space Rabbi.

What bothers me about the idea of this thread is that it doesn't really confront the problem of how non-Christians worship, and that not all prayer is personal prayer.

Are you going to have Shepard try to find Mecca and pray toward it? Are you going to have Shepard record lines in Hebrew?

I haven't read the entire thread yet so i don't know if this has been suggested, but you can have a generalized prayer that does not pray to any specific religion. Again this will be a choice that your shepard can or cannot make, it's up to you.

Shepard to this point in the game has not made a decision on what he believes as far as religion goes. So the likelihood that he will all of a sudden believe in on religion or another without thinking about it first is pretty slim. So having a generalized prayer to something makes a little more sense.

It could be something like "i don't know what to do anymore. If there is someone or something out there, please help. we can't win this battle alone." somthing along those lines.

I am a Jesus follower and I would be happy with that. Because again, Shepard has not explored religion at all to this point so I think something simple that opens the door for my Shepard to explore this side of him even if I don't actually explore it is fine with me.

the game has the option for same sex storylines which I find offensive and is controversial but they keep it in the game because it's a different experience for the player to explore and other reasons that I won't get into. But I don't have to persue the same sex storyline because thats not what I want my Shepard to be. If you don't want a religious Shepard then don't pick the option, it's that simple.

Bioware does not have to make a big deal about in the game. But they can put the option in there for players that want to use it.

^ This ... see  prayer issues  resolved right here .. done over.   /End Theard.

All this  craziness about having different religons  represent is crazy  - when  it come simply just like   this.

Adapted from Embedded, by Dan Abnett:

"God of my personal convictions, watch over me on this morning, and throughout this endeavor, and watch over my comrades in this unit, even if they are heathen alien sun****es who believe in some other god than thou. Help me maintain honor and courage, and uphold the great institution of the Citadel Council, and the constitution of the Systems Alliance, amen."

No, it doesn't have to be super specific. Shep dialogue could go along the lines like, "I don't know if you can hear me, but I need your help... I don't know what to do." Or have a brief acknowledgement of God for those who want to explore those options. BioWare doesn't need to go into detail what God shep is praying to, or have shep preform demanding religious activities (like going to mecca).

No, you don't understand.

(As far as I know) Muslims when they pray (properly) have to pray in the direction of Mecca. There is a ritual to prayer, and not superficially compared to Chrisitans when they just get on their knees and hold hands. It's not about going to Mecca - but you have to know where Mecca is to face it.

Jews use the sidur, which is a prayer book. I'm not religious, but I'm pretty sure when we pray, we have to pray from the book. I'm not sure how reform does it, to be honest, because that's a western phenomenon and my family immigrated from the east.

What I'm saying is that people are asking for Shepard to pray as a Christian without realizing it, because of the culture gap.
