I take offense to this, sir. You don't see me bashing Atheist because they don't believe what I do.

Hey, maybe "God" is a reaper. Maybe "Judgment Day" is the reaper arrival.
Heh, it'd make more sense anyway.

I have a flying spaghetti monster friend name Carl nobody can see him or hear him but he's real to me and that's all that matters.
Some people call me insane but he's as real as other deities around the world

And somehow - what I wrote in my "Poll" comes to mind:
It has been said that,"There is no atheist in a foxhole..." I've been thinking recently.Wouldn't it be cool -- Wouldn't it be a truly unforgettable moment in Gaming History. If in Mass Effect 3, Commander Shepard has a 'Talking (or Shouting or Crying out) to God moment!?! Self-reliance is a virtue. And we all have our pride. But even Jake Sully
in James Cameron's Avatar: Had a moment where he had done all that he could do and asked Eywa: ( The guiding force and deity of Pandora and the Navi) for whatever help that it could provide.I don't know about
you.But I was really moved by a certain moment of the Reaper Invasion of Earth footage that we got to see.In the ME 3 Demo.
Anderson: God.How do you stop something so powerful?!
Shepard: I don't know?!
After hearing the both of these accomplished, strong, highly competent men.Speak so honestly to one another.Saying things that they would never want their subordinates to hear.Lest they lose morale. The vulnerability, that Admiral David Anderson and Commander John Shepard show here.Is a real 'tearjerker' moment. If you really think about it, for a minute..BioWare has said that defeating the Reapers will seem hopeless and resistance futile; for a good percentage of the story.(I'm paraphrasing)
On account of this I could so see Shepard have a moment, either in his cabin on the Normandy or at a religious site or graveyard;say something like this: (This will be optional of course.I don't believe that BioWare should force every player to play this scene, if they don't want too.But I do believe that the option should be there.)
Shepard:"Ha... You know -- My mother always told me that,"God will never put more on your shoulders than you can bare." I have come so far.I have cheated death.I have talked to the point of almost losing my voice.Trying to convince people of the Reaper Invasion.Mostly to no avail... I'm not asking or expecting Angels to descend from the 3rd heaven to save us... But I need something. Some sign. Some - hope.Some.....................
............ INSPIRATION -- A Big Idea or a Point in the right direction.Something.... Just.... Something -- Sigh..."
Post Script: This is the Paragon Version of the Monologue or Dialogue that Shepard has with God.
Far, far too denomination/religon specific.

PLEASE, keep religion in the ME games at the level it's already at, Bioware. There's enough there in the background to give a bit more insight into the cultural diversity of the different races, and I think it should stay that way.
I agree with this. There was plenty of religious side content in ME1 and 2- Hanar preacher, codex entries, Ashley, Thane etc. there was never too little of it but neither was there too much of it.

Praying accomplishes nothing. Is Shepard going to pray and suddenly some divine intervention is going to occur that beats the Reapers ?
I would find that completely offensive, not just because its religious pandering but because its intellectually cheap and dramatically disgusting.
Yeah... some divine being decided to sit on it's rear end and watch the galaxy burn multiple times but suddenly a prayer from Shepard saves the day.
Even more stupid for Shepard to pray to an invisible, imaginary all powerful being given the events of the game. The Reapers are super powerful and have more right to claim to being a God so if any prayer is uttered in ME3 it should be to the Reapers.

tbh, I don't think they should do this. The way ME has handled religion thus far is fine. I'd be perfectly fine if you can get another religion talk with Ashley, but I don't think Shep should pray while the Mecha Cthulhu Brigade is on the loose...when he can use that time to.......actually do something useful to combat them...

also it's not just a simple "Please *insert deity here* give me strength in these dark times" with a recycled prayer animation (because doing a standard Christian prayer totally fits when praying to Odin gaiz)...there are different motions to different types of prayer....and since this is religion we're talking about...someone is bound to flip tables because they prayed to Jesus but did a Muslim prayer animation...

Just turn of fox news for an example of this.

I still think this problem's solved. the real question is whose religion gets the paragon or renegade option...
:innocent:

If a Christian bashed your beliefs on the past, does that make it OK for you to bash theirs?
If a Christian blindly believes in a deity, does that make it OK for you to blindly believe in the lack thereof?
If you think that organized religion is bad because it has priests that carry over the ideals of a religion, what about The Amazing Atheist and people like him?
Note that I have nothing against Atheism or any other sort of belief for that matter, I just despise these types of debates.

Ok two things
1. You forgot to ad Catholics to that list, we killed each other a lot
2. Catholics are the first christians
Any way I think we could have shep pray, or a least mention it. It is no less useful then having sex with your crew.
As I said it should be an option and it would help to build sheps character but nothing big like it was in ME 1 with Ash. There to add to the richness of the character.
