The plight of the Dalish inspired me to take a melody I had written about war, and to put Dalish language to it as the lyrics.  I have a tiny bit of Cherokee in my background, and I can't help but think how much the Dalish struggles remind me of our Native American heritage.   I wish there were more Dalish Elf Language resources out there!  Especially after studying 5 foreign languages, it would be alot of fun to learn a completely "fictional" language.

I decided my sleep-deprived mug on Youtube singing into a webcam was not something that people would get excited about, so after much more sleep deprivation, playing another new mage character, and umpteen screenshots, I put together a slide show, AND I dusted off my Protools M-Audio recorder and hooked up a mic to it (thankfully my computer did not crash for once). It sounds alot better, and I hope you like it (with drums this time).

I chose to feature screenshots of Merrill because she is adorable and she is both proud and naive, which causes her a hard lesson, and it is very sad that she loses her clan to her own risktaking.

The rough translation to English is below:
"Way of the Arrow, Way of the Bow, Way of the Forest and the Elder Tree
We are the last of the Elvenan. In our Aravels, we tell our story.
Goodbye to this place we love,
we will greet the friend of the dead and god of the dead
We will go together and write in blood
Elder, your time has come, your eyes need resting
We will plant a tree over your grave and tell others at the clan gathering.
Way of the Arrow, Way of the Bow, Way of the Forest and the Elder Tree
We are the last of the Elvenan. In our Aravels, we tell our story.

Does anyone want to come up with a better video to go with the song for me?

Hi creative buddies! Thanks for encouraging me to write another song... just uploaded a new song I recorded onto You Tube, the title is Arlathan and you can find it by that tag. Here is the link:
Or you can find it on my channel josieevelync. This is all home recorded, not for profit, for you to use as background music to your own videos if you wish (send me a message and I will send you the MP3). The song is intended to make you think you are either in the Fade, at a place where the veil is thin, or looking through time back to the original Arlathan mentioned by the Dalish Elves. Tried to keep the melody in theme with the whole DA/NWN chord progressions. It is not really mixed down or mastered, but I hope you enjoy it, would love to hear if you like it. I am terrible at making videos, so it is just a few pictures of "Dalish/Graveyard" type scenes.

Woo hoo! Song # 4 is now posted on Youtube. Thanks to my DnD buddies who said "I wish we had a Dalish war song". "An Na Harel" is the title. All the links are at the beginning of this topic. Enjoy the DAO screenshots of the Dalish Elf Origins!

I just wrote a Dalish Lullaby. It is a capella with my own voice doing all the 3-4 part harmonies (sorry Twin). The title is Atisha Era, and it can be downloaded from the "Minstrels of Thedas" project page files. Below are the lyrics:

Emma Len, (my child)
Souveri Inan (your eyes are tired)
Felas Melana (time to slow down)
Sahlin Hamin (rest now)
Emma Len (my child)
U ma din (you are not alone)
Mahvir ma then (tomorrow you will awake)
Mahvir, sulahn (tomorrow you sing)
Atisha era (dream peacefully)
