I was introduced to her and we immediately started talking about the fans, FemShep and what she could do to help. She was funny, interested and very keen for her role in Mass Effect as the voice of Shepard. I met her again here at PAX and not only was she just as kind, smart, etc, she remembered my name and greated me warmly. I was very impressed that she remembered who I was what will all of the roles she plays, the people she meets, etc.
For me, it is always a great thing when the celebrities you meet turn out to be really nice people. This is absolutely the case with Jennifer Hale.

I was always under the impression that each VA worked solo. Hale stated in her "New Yorker Magazine" interview that she records her VO before anyone else.ratzerman wrote...
And she apparently had quite the session with Ali Hillis recently...

That tweet made me think that Ali Hiliis got to hear some of femShep's lines before doing hers, or they were actually recording together. I'm think it's the fomer.

Hale and Mark Meer do their voice-over work early in the process so the other voice actors who have scenes with Shepard have an easier job.ladyvader wrote...

Working solo like that would be a real talent, since that would require not hearing the intones of the other actor from any source. Imagining, and then projecting the tonality of the charatcer while imagining the other character's interactions/tonalities, would be special. I think it is very possible, but I also think Ali (as weell as most others) are working with each other, or at least with each other's recordings.

I am fortunate in that I have met Ms Hale a few times now and am pleased to say she is super kind. I have met a n umber of celebrities during my time and some are very professional, but not personal. With Ms Hale, not only is she very knowledgeable and professional, she is a really nice person as well.

My first experience with her voice acting was the part she had as Deionarra in Planescape: Torment, and I thought the acting for that character was very well done. I wanted to keep talking to Deionarra because of the tonality and emotion she exuded in her character. You're lucky to have met her, she seems as sincere in her interviews as your experiences say as well.

Jennifer Hale is one of my favorite VA's.
She played triska in bulletstorm.Her
Wait, that was her? I mean, I´m not a big fan, so I couldn´t possibly know it...
Yep, that was her alright.
Would love to hear a renegade femshep spew lines like this:
I lol'd so hard at that part.
Did you know she also played Tira in Soul Calibur? It's so much different from her usual stuff now, but when your hear depressive Tira you can definately tell it's Jenn Hale.

Ummmm ... I think my anticipation level just went up ten fold.
It's great to see Hale getting so much press lately, this, ComicCon, the femShep reveal and the New Yorker article. Hale to the Queen!

Right, and according to this Hillis interview she hears Hale's lines through headphones and then 'acts' to them I suppose.

The only thing that confuses me about this is do they then do takes of the same line said by Mark Meer for her react to as well? Seems redunant to me. How do they determine which Shepard's voice to use if the other actors are acting off of that?
I thought I had heard something early on, maybe for ME1 saying that the other voice actors recorded first and then Mark Meer was able to react to them. So who knows what the process is like? Also they said all the actor record solo but there were pictures of Seth Green and Tricia Helfer in the booth together.

I'd think they'd have the most experienced VA (i.e. Hale) go first since she's likely to make the best recordings without having recordings of the other VA's lines for context. Then the other VAs can listen to her and it makes their job easier (hence Hillis' comment). Meer might be less experienced than the VAs for some other characters, if he's going after them.
Maybe in Green's and Helfer's case they lucked into coinciding schedules, or it was just a publicity photo when in fact they weren't both recording at the same time.

yeah, long story short, Ali Hillis, Tricia Helfer and Seth Green have VERY good agents, considering they are the only people in the series that cannot be dead (well I guess there is Anderson and Udina but one of them landed the Arbiter Role so he's set for life and the other is only in 1 scene the entire game no matter how you play your cards)drwells123 wrote...

I too had never realized how large her voice acting influence was on me growing up until I looked into her further after Mass Effect. So many iconic characters I would watch growing up were her voice, and now she is by far my favorite voice actress in anything ever. It would take me way too long to list all of her roles that I saw as a kid, but just check out her IMDB page if you haven't yet. I guarantee that if you watched any cartoons at all in the nineties, she'll have been in at least one of them. Grey DeLisle, too.
Yeah... Jennifer Hale is actually one of the reasons I follow voice actors, meaning I recognize their voice in things and try to commit it to memory.
Speaking of Jennifer Hale and Grey Delisle, look up Cree Summer, you might be surprised the voice work she's done. She's been in Mass Effect, the aid to Shiala right next to the stairs leading to her chambers, and Dragon Age: Origins, Aggressive Female Elf voice.
Then there's Cam Clarke, who could forget the voice of Leonardo from one of my favorite cartoons of all time.

I
bought bulletstorm and played it just to hear her. Was money well spent
as far as I'm concerned, her character was delightfully crass and fun.
Also,
Steve Blum as the main character was wonderful too... I experienced
many a good laugh. It was the first FPS I ever bought and enjoyed, I
generally dislike them immensely (and I disliked the gameplay of
Bulletstorm even... but I didn't care sicne I loved the characters &
comedy of it so much).
You're not alone, if it
wasn't for Jennifer Hale and Steve Blum, I don't think I would have
played it. Now I hear Epic is working on a sequel, so I hope they
return.
It wasn't too shocking, but it was nice to hear that Jennifer Hale doesn't have problems delivering such words in her lines.
And I actually like the gameplay, there was enough you could do without using the weapons. Then the alt attacks of some of the weapons were really cool. I used the leash a lot and it was fun using it then kicking enemies into objects.

She also played mallory from the mighty ducks. That's basically the beginning of femshep.
That's the first role I remember her in too.

Doubt it. Seems like a waste of time. It's the same lines except for occasionally having to say 'he' instead of 'she'.

It might be the preference of the VA? I know Hillis is good friends with Hale so she may prefer to react to her lines. Or Hale records her lines before Meer?...I dunno.

Perhaps Hale records first, the others react to her, then Meer records towards the end and reacts to all of them? The whole process could even vary between games or between VAs.
