As a Linux gamer, I have an unsupported OS, that should be stated right off the bat.  I am asking that people do refrain from telling me to install Windows and the problem will be solved, I know that, however it's not my objective and I will likely shelf the game until it becomes an option first.  But anyway, moving on.

I have purchased the game through Direct2Drive, and am able to prove it however I am running into an issue, After clicking Play on the launcher, I am being presented with an error screen stating.

"We're sorry, an error has occurred

The application is unable to run on guest accounts or Windows accounts without sufficient privileges.  Please log in using another Windows account."

Now due to my operating system, that is not an option, I am fairly comfortable saying that this has something to do with AWC.dll.  So my question is, do I have any official options available to me before I seek third party options?.

The second purpose of this thread, though for the purposes of this thread, to a lesser degree, is to put a linux face on the map, just to remind game companies that we are out here.

Examine the description of the forum at the top. Save for certain particular subjects, Bioware is not an active participant. It's just gamers here, asking one another for suggestions about technical questions. No one reading the traffic here can answer the question you have posed.

You will need to work things out with Wine, or whatever Windows emulation you are trying to use, without local input, I'm quite certain. If you do hope one of us may be Wine-savvy, you should nevertheless follow through with the reporting discussion labeled "Before Anything Else" among the stickies.

It's true I didn't read the stickies admittedly, though primarily due to wanting to remember what I came here to post in the first place, however I did see this is a self-help forum.

Even without a significant bioware presence I do still want to walk the line if at all possible. which is why posed the question. since it is much more likely someone will respond here having asked the question than if I didn't ask at all. That said, I do realize it was a long shot,

Unfortunately for this case here, the only option available to me via normal wine channels is to find a crack, which I don't want to do. So I figured I'd check and see if anyone on windows had similar issues and what they did to resolve them, aside from the obvious answer that the error gives, which is to login under another windows account. That would work around the problem for others, but unfortunately it doesn't do anything for me.

Thank you for your reply though I do appreciate it.

As far as system information, since I forgot it earlier:

Operating System:    Ubuntu 11.04
CPU:     3.0 Ghz AMD 1075T
RAM:     16 GB DDR3
Video Card:     NVIDIA GTX 570
Audio:     Pulse / Alsa (DirectX 9.0c compatible)
DirectX:     11 / 10 / 9.0c (9 installed, 10 & 11 DLLs present)
Hard Drive: 3.3 TB Raid-0

Relevent software: .NET 2.0, Visual C++ 2005 Runtime, Visual C++ 2005 Runtime

EDIT
Is AWC.dll a dll that's specific to the game? or to windows? I never heard of it before.
