Title is pretty self-explanitory, I just can't get the Arishok to hate me and NOT challenge me to a dual at the conclusion of act 2. And my stupid ego gets in the way every time he makes the challenge and I have to accept.Posted Image

So what do I do, or NOT do, to get him to declare me an unworthy oppenent, and attack me with the rest of his Qunari? I want to see the other side of this story but haven't yet and I am starting a new playthrough and would like some advice from my fellow forum members.
                       Cheers!

1 Hide the bodies after you find the hostages.

2 Do not tell him about Isabela taking the relic

3 Tell him to let the elves be taken away after he asks you "What would you do if you were in my place Hawke?"

4 Do not agree with the vigilantes ways of taking justice into their own hands

If you do most of that he will see you as unworthy i think.

Like esper said, he always challenges you to a duel if you don't agree to hand Isabella over to him. To have him declare you Basalit-an -- worthy of following -- you have to gain his respect over the course of Act 1 and 2. Info about this can be found here. Failing to do this will have him declare you unworthy but he will still fight you one on one.

Dang.  I have done all of this and he still challenges me to a one on one duel. Is there any way to get him to not challenge me to a duel short of Isabella leaving my party for good? She is one of my favorite characters.

... Have anyone tried to side with Pertrice. In the one playthrough were I did that I also handed Isabella over. I don't think it would work, but it is the only thing I can think of.

Why not duel him then?

Pretty sure you get more dialogue/influence from Isabela if you do.

Just wanted to do something a little different. Good-bye Isabella...... for this playthrough anyway.

Thanks for the help and quick responses, all!

Be careful with this, though. If Isabela comes back at all giving her up will result in the Arishok leaving with no violence. The only way to get him to withold suggestion of a duel is if Isabela doesn't come back in the first place. For this you need to keep her friendship/rivalry score low.

You can just say no to the duel. Then you'll get the big group fight. C'mon, you can do it! It's kind of funny, actually, what Hawke says when turning down the duel.

If you can hide the bodies, you can certainly tell the Arishok to take a hike when he proposes a duel; you've already got a dishonorable Hawke--don't let your pride get in the way of more dishonor!

The Arishok is someone I respect, and I would love a duel with him. But that would mean if he is dead, the others Qunaris simply leave Kirkwall. And I don't want that. To let all the others Qunaris to leave Kirkwall alive after his death is something unacceptable for me after they massacred hundreds of ordinary people, kidnapped the nobles, killed a few of them. An impunity that is unbearable.

I think the outcome of the duel, very few honorable. They all deserve to be eradicated.
