Well, we don't know that she was killed during that (assuming you don't waste the whole Circle, obviously). I still hold out hope.

Fair enough. Personally I doubt she made it. It seemed like the ones who did were those who could escape while Hawke was going Incredible Hulk on the templars, but Idunna was in solitary confinement.

Actually, most of the Order wasn't actually in the Gallows. For... some reason. Orsino was holding the line rather well against those templars who were, and Hawke helped take out the last of those before Meredith arrived with the main siege. In the templar ending, the templars could afford to disperse throughout the Gallows and kill everyone, but in the mage ending, Meredith would probably want to keep them concentrated to hit Hawke's and Orsino's position. As such, with that siege being broken and Meredith's ultimate demise, the templars seem to withdraw from the Gallows for a while. I think Hawke could lead plenty of mages out at that time.

Incredible Hulk   Actually true in my Hawke's case.  He was a 2h warrior spec'd as a Reaver and Berserker.  You have to believe that a life-consuming Reaver caught in a full berserk rage would be about the scariest thing anybody has ever seen.
