Why did they change her hair from blonde to red?

I'm glad that facial model won, because it was the one i liked, but i liked it better when she was blonde. Was it always the idea to hold a second round of voting to decide hair colour, or was it because of the overriding anti-blonde sentiment present in pseudo-intellectuals across the net.
I really do get the impression that many men outwardly decry blonde hair on women because they feel it makes them seem somehow sexually enlightened, as if redheads are a gentleman's choice.
I'm bitterly disappointed that she's no longer blonde -- i'll be doubly so if it's because of the prejudice of the fanbase. Will it be possible to alter her hair colour?

Blondes must be destroyed. They are manipulative abominations.
Abominations life would probably be less enjoyable without.

No, i don't believe that. I saw the comments posted when the initial voting started, so there is little doubt that many fans have something against blondes.
I'm wondering if this is the reason a second round of voting was set up, because it was never mentioned that we'd get to decide on hair colour in the beginning.

It was such a big stink that Bioware decided to hold another round to decide hair color.
All I have to say is... Thank the Maker the voting is done.

The blonde Shep apparently won because everybody seemed to like the longer hair. Then people had a huge snit that Shep was blonde because that meant she was a "barbie" (their word, not mine).

I've been on vacation so i didn't even know about the second round of voting, but given the ridiculous "she can't be blonde" comments i had read, i figured something like this would happen.
Lame. The model looked better blonde, and the idea that a person's abilities and skills are decided by their hair colour has less credibility than nominative determinism.
It's almost as bad as racism, really, and BioWare just pandered to it. Disappointing.

They did it so we could make 30 threads a day about it.
Oh, i do apologise if this has been discussed before.
Though, if you can say with certainty that there have been 30 threads on the subject today, you may be spending more time here than is healthy.
Some of us have other things we like to do, so there is no need to be so rude.

There were a lot of people who thought that we were going to save the galaxy while doing our nails, not to mention the mysogynyst news talking about the stereotypied "barbie" so hell yeah they did another voting. I liked the blonde, but i'm a sucker for redheads

No. There was never supposed to be a second vote. In the first vote, blonde shep won by a landslide, but haters claimed that " Shepard can't be blond, it's stupid, it's cliché. This whole vote is a sexist beauty contest". The second vote was created because people loved the hair style but hated blonde.

So they had another vote of 4 hair colors with that hair style.
Blonde was still there and lost (I voted Brunette).
I honestly dont see a conspiracy as some do, there were some anti-blonde comments by fools, but i highly doubt that had any effect on the 2nd poll.

It's unfortunate that the worst of the fanbase is always the loudest, like the body armour-fundamentalists that want to revert to the ME1 attires, and the misogynistic bigots that don't believe a blonde haired woman can do anything but worry about her nails.
Sigh.

Because people here ****ed and whined " but but but the original ugly default Shepard had red hair and we're frightened of change so please make her a bluey" Ok said BioWare, whatever you want! Plus we can use it for more pointless advertising whilst detracting from the actual game! Awesome!!
Poor Bioware... and we wonder why so many game devs fear the fans. <_<
Ungrateful swines.

To be honest, I voted for the blonde only for the haircut. I don't care which femShep they put up. Seriously, we just wanted a trailer and figured they'd spruce up Jane a bit. But of course there is the opposite arguement; that no one cared about her until she was a blonde.
