No thank you. This needs to be said and questions need to be asked and answered.

Your in the wrong place my friend.  I have no sympathy for either side.  Because the response when blonde was winning was DEAL WITH IT!
OH HAHA that never gets old right.  Maybe your girlfriend needs to deal with it!
Especially when this is so pointless in the long run.

If it didn't, that wouldn't be a problem.

It's only a problem because it did. We've all seen the "barbie" posts, so i'm not interested in your justifications.

I can appreciate that you're happy because you got your way, but as Thane said "pure results come from pure methods" and there is nothing pure about this.

AAAAAND all your doing is adding to the whinefest.  Congratulations your part of the problem.  If this offends you so much than you need help a game forum can't give you.

yea, its a pointless argument isnt it. making a huge fuss about the default femshep when it only takes a few minutes to make a custom shepard is kinda silly. Barbie and Ginger are funny names tho, everyone knows what you mean

If 31,000 people wanted BlondShep, then why did she only get 5,000 votes in the second round of voting?

Where did those 26,000 people go? Hmmmm?

I guess they must have been abducted by the Collectors.

If 20,000 people wanted red head Shep why didn't they vote for her in the first round?  Were they stuck behind the Omega 4 relay, hardee har har.....  Really, at least come up with something other than a simple strawman. In fact, don't bother. /sigh

Your argument makes absolutely no sense man.  You can't count the first vote into the second.
If blonde was the clear winner than she'd have one the second round.  The proof is right there.  Basically your saying that they need to tally EVERY vote from BOTH  rounds and whoever voted blonde in the first round obviously would've voted for blonde second.
The fact that Red is winning the second round proves you completely wrong. it isn't a 19 > 31 its 2 seperate polls that 19 out of 31 is more accurate.

I think we established this long ago. Most people liked FemShep 5 for her hairstyle. Color, based on 2nd poll voting, was a much less important factor.

The numbers don't lie dude.

You are quite right about that.  I'm interested to see the data sets you used to arrive at your conclusion.  I'll wait.....

And if hair color was a "much less important factor" why was there a second vote?  Wasn't the whole second vote entirely based on the premise that people didn't like the hair color?  But if hair color wasn't an important factor why have the vote?

You're a peach darling! I'm not sure why I bother writing this but I'm curious to see the data sets you used to arrive at your conclusion that all voters in the 2nd poll where prejudiced blonde haters. I'll wait....

Hair color is less important than hair style.  Obviously if we could only have one it'd be the style, which is proven in the results 1st and 2nd polls. That doesn't mean people don't want to customize color, it's just not as important to them apparently.

Though I'm sure nothing anyone says will get you to even glance at the other side of the argument. Surprise me huh?

LOL they think that all 20,000 people who voted for blonde in the first vote did so purely because she was blonde.  Did people ignore all the pepole saying "I voted for her because I like the hair style."  LOL and he likes to accuse people of strawmen a lot

Ah I stopped you on one silly point and you bring up another.

/shrug I gave up.  It's hard to converse with one who doesn't understand how comparing %'s across two data sets with different totals is at best a useless gesture.  I'm done now.

You should've been done before you started.  Trying to use percentage and crap to undermine the voting. the 31k of voters who voted for blonde were reset when the second vote started.... thats just the facts of it.

You'd think they would create a Femshep of a racial minority or something.

I've really only ever seen Femsheps that looked White and Asian. Never a Black femshep.

It's practically the same deal, except I've seen a few Himsheps that actually looked black. Google "black shepard mass effect" and this comes up, but when was the last time you saw a Shepard that looked like this, or this? You probably haven't.

Sorry to ruin your perfectly good rant but the first round candidates were all Caucasian and blond - I suppose they could have had one poll to rule them all (dozens of options corresponding to each possible hair colour X ethnicity X eye colour X lipstick colour X ... ) but probably decided that no one would be able to meaningfully compare more than half a dozen pictures.

today one of the joystiq staffers commented on the femshep controversy.

there are plenty of black shepards out there, every player has the option to make shepard whatever ethnicity they want. i normally role caucasian femsheps, mostly cause even with dark skin most good looking femsheps cant hide the generally caucasian features

Wow, this is still going? Again, the guy is a troll. Like it has been said, hairstyle 5 was the best, they gave us more options later because we asked for more options. The fact that the original vote gave us 6 out of hundreds of possibilities is pretty limiting, and we wanted more than that, so we got it. If this had been set up much earlier I think it would have been cool to see a lot more options, possibly in a tourny style vote off. But we got the best they could do in such a short time. Like it or don't, it doesn't matter, just be happy Bioware gave a crap at all, most companies don't.
And seriously stop feeding the troll. If this is really that upsetting to him, he has bigger issues.

Just gonna repost this because it still feels quite relevent.
Personally out of the original six I liked #5 the most simply because I liked the hairstyle more than the ones on any of the other choices. When I heard it won I didn't really care that it was blonde. When I saw that they were holding another round, I liked the red the most. I think I speak for most people when I say those things, and I never even voted because I don't use facebook.

Actually, let me clarify this a bit so there's no misunderstandings. I never even knew about the original vote til it was over and I saw some posts about it. Then I saw the other choices and thought that the best one was chosen. I heard about the new round, and judging from the amount of, "she's blonde, deal with it" posts at the time, I'm going to assume plenty of blonde supporters saw it as well.

Also, how long was the original vote? I only know round 2 was a week. If the first one was longer, obviously we have our number discrepancy right there.

Voted for the blonde one but I'm just as happy with ginger =) she's wonderful. I'm going to take default Jane through ME and ME2 simply so that I can use her in ME3. Feels right to do it this way. And here's my indian FemShep Robin =) if you want a different FemShep than the default, just make one yourself.

I'm just hearing about this now, and I'm extremely PO'ed. I'm not mad about her no longer being blonde (even though I voted for her), I'm mad that this second vote completely flew past my radar.

ME3 was the only game I've been actively keeping track of, but I somehow completely missed this... When was the second voting process announced?

When I voted for the blonde I really wished she had black hair... Knowing that she's a redhead AGAIN only rubs it in because red is my least favorite hair color (no offense to the redheads out there).

Especially when this is so pointless in the long run.

1. I personally didn't tell anyone to "deal with it".
2. Blonde was winning fairly. This second poll wasn't as well publicised (as proven from the lower amounts of people that too part) and it's logical to conclude that the most likely people to vote are the ones that would have disliked blonde in the first place.

Fighting misogyny will never be pointless.

I'm sorry this has been winding me up since you started this topic and used 'misogyny' so liberally.

Misogyny is the hatred or dislike of women or girls.

This is a thread about the hair colour of femshep right? You prefer blonde, the majority of the voters in the poll decided they liked the red hair.

So basically, please stop using words you quite frankly don't understand the meaning of.

AND before you start attacking me and my post, I didn't take part in any of the voting for what default femshep looks like, as it does not bother me in any way or form. Whatever she comes out like I'm happy with. If I want a femshep who looks different to default femshep I'll just play with the CC.

It is when there isn't any to be had.  Their were maybe 2 people crying out about the blonde hair... 2 very loud people but thats hardly worth making a political stand about in a game forum.

Besides the guy above just pointed out that misgyny is the hatred of women.  How does that work in a femshep poll?
Isn't the fact that you said yourself that your not going to even play as femshep more mysgynistic than anything else?

I think it is you that doesn't understand how to use the word. It refers to a specific type of hatred, and the idea that blonde women are incapable is a misogynstic one.
