Yes nice but can we get back on Topic... please thanks that is all.

Misogyny seems to have played a huge role in the changing of her hair from blonde to red, so Godwood's misogyny in regards to squad attires isn't that off topic.

It is not misogyny to think Miranda's outfit is skin tight and latex designed to please adolescent males, everyone but Shep says as much, the Asari in her loyalty mission says as much and Ken and Gabby have a whole banter about her attire.
It would be misogyny to say that blonde are bimbos or they are making Ashley into a bimbo because she has breasts this time.
I however don't have a problem with the outfits in ME2, and not because I ****** to them (I don't) but just because most of them are nicely stylistic and I prefer black and white latex to a marine running around in pink armor.

I'm bitterly disappointed that she's no longer blonde -- i'll be doubly so if it's because of the prejudice of the fanbase. Will it be possible to alter her hair colour?

Of course you'll be able to give her blonde hair. The new default FemShep is just a marketing tool, nothing more. You'll see her in the femshep trailer and on one side of the ME3 CE case. Beside that, you'll see her in the ME3 cc. You'll be able to change her looks just like with any other preset (except sheploo because that face wasn't created using the cc) so if you want to give her blonde hair, go right ahead.

Sadly thats not possible, has been confirmed that will be just like Sheploo, will be a High Quality model not able to be altered

The one I wanted didn’t win at all. I wanted number one. I remember people calling her a lesbian, a ******, a lesbian truck driver, butch etc. I didn’t care. I don’t value other’s opinion enough to care. She lost. I moved on. I don’t go around saying that every single person who did not vote for her must have not voted because of those people insulting her. Hopefully, we’ll have that hairstyle and I can make my shep look like her. Does it bother me she won’t be the one on the cover? No. I think it’s cool a femshep will be there at all. Bioware didn’t have to do that. They chose to do that because people rallied for one. Fans were quite vocal about it. So, for those whining and moaning about Bioware catering to fans and how upset you are about it: be thankful or you wouldn’t even see her in marketing at all.

I didn’t like the blond. Not because I think she is dumb. Not because I think blondes are dumb. I didn’t find her aesthetically pleasing. I see enough blondes in the media as it is. I am sure that of the what --fifty or so people who lambasted her for being dumb in public--didn’t make up the entire vote. You are using that as justification to feed your bitter resentment for not winning. Until you have proof, viable proof that all those thousands of votes came from blond haters-- I suggest you move on and get over it.

Can't say I'm surprised that a thread like this exists - no one knew at the time of the first poll that there would be another later on, and it wouldn't suprise me if many of the initial voters still aren't aware of the 2nd poll. I also have to wonder if most of the people who voted the 2nd time were mainly folk disgruntled by the first poll. Hmm. Oh well, lesson learnt by Bioware, I guess?

In any case, at least the voting is over and done with now, and femshep is finally getting marketed!

Meh. If I worked for Bioware I'd stick to creating my own little baby and say 'Here's what you get. Deal with it' instead of letting people vote for anything.

1. They never should of had a vote.
2. The end result looks fine.
3. They caved to prejudice when they had the second vote. Everyone knows perfectly well if femshep 4. had won the vote and there was an internet **** storm about her skin color there would not have been a second vote with 5 different skin colors. But apparently it is socially acceptable to be prejudiced against blonds. If the complaints about blond femshep had been things like I really like her face, but I'd prefer her as a redhead that would be one thing. But it was hate mongering against blonds that filled the posts and forums about blond femshep. And bioware caved to that hate.

Instead of the board whining can we please persuade Bioware to release the new default Femshep as a patch addon for ME1 and ME2? If we have a new default girl I want to be able to play her from beginning to end.

I only hope that the voting has been put to rest for good and that this further dissatisfaction doesn't spawn a new round of voting.

I'm good with blonde or red. The new pics of femshep have her looking pretty fierce, IMO.

Seriously why does it matter? Most people are going to be customizing their femsheps anyway, the femshep model that people voted for will just be the default that is used in marketing.

You can do what you want.

I want to pursuade BioWare to make her blonde again.

We all know that red hair is vastly superior to blonde.

Oh it matters.

It matters because the reason that she isn't blonde is that some people feel all blonde-haired women are bimbos and more obsessed with their make up than anything else.

It's utterly offensive that a second round of voting was opened to satisfy people of that mindset.

THIS. SO MUCH THIS. ESPECIALLY THE FIRST PARAGRAPH.

You know what the real misogyny in all this was? The fact that the vote happened at all. I could have told you right away which one was going to win, because it was never going to be about the most fitting image of the character. It was going to be about which one fit most within the definition of beauty in Western civilization. Bland, plain, banal, lowest common denominator Shepard #5.

I demand a ginger Sheploo, Bioware!

I found the difference within facial structures between the six options to be minimal; we were basically voting on skin tone and haircut.

The option that perhaps least fell within the confines of what is stereotypical beauty in the Western world, looked more like a pop star than any of the others, and as such the least fitting option of all.

So i don't think that your argument holds much water, really.

I find the premise of this thread slightly ironic as coming from the uk, it is red people who are constantly being made the brunt of jokes. The negative attitude is deeply ingrained in our culture to the extent that even in our highly pc society jokes and negative comments about red hair are pefectly acceptable. Personally it's nice to see the gingers getting some positive attention for once.
(p.s. I do not have red hair so have no axe to grind)

Shepard #6 was easily the most on the outs with the opinion of Western beauty, and it shows painfully clear in the votes.

Agreed! Don't give power to teenagers, they will abuse it!

For what it's worth, this was a vote for the DEFAULT appearance. FemShep's appearance is still customisable, just like ManShep. The only thing this will effect is what she'll look like in marketting (in trailers, screenshots, etc.). It's not really a conspiracy or anything. Given the low number of players who actually use a default appearance, most players won't ever see this version of FemShep in their games.

Word! Couldn't express it better. The funny thing is that I haven't seen a thread complaining about male shepard or something like "Oh, he looks like puppy in the face! DAMN YOU BIOWARE! I want my veto back!"

Dudes and dudetts chill! I'm not happy about it either, but please, calm the F down :)

Oh right, the goth-looking one with the fringe.

Maybe she came last in the polling because most people don't have their Shepard always in a space helmet, and as such, her ghostly complexion isn't all that fitting.

Your attitude is rather offensive, too. Many of us non-Westerners partook in the voting.

I don't mean to be offensive, only point-blank. I am aware that this is an international community with many fans all over the world, but I'm not going to pretend that the largest voting bloc isn't from the Western Hemisphere. Yet another reason why there shouldn't have been a poll about this matter to begin with.

I can't tell you exactly why Egyptian Shepard came last in the polling. I won't say racial prejudice because #4 was the second most popular, even though I found her appearance outside of the skintone ridiculous for a career soldier. I voted for 1, 2 and 6—I voted for the last one because I thought that she had a great pulp science fiction look, even though I saw that she had a snowball's chance in Hell of coming out on top.
